I know logically that I have a lot to live for and I’m excited for the future but that doesn’t stop my brain from throwing thoughts of SH and self-hatred at me whenever I experience a negative emotion. Sure maybe that response helped me survive being a closeted teen but now it’s just a fucking nuisance that ruins my mood. It’s hard to have the energy to challenge those thoughts when they’re so heavy. I’m fine and I’m not gonna act on anything but they make me feel like shit and not in control of my own life.
