Some people asking for the context for this, so here we go: one of the books briefly mention Bruno being the family star when he was younger, before things took a turn. I imagine as Alma's only son, he was babied quite a bit when he was younger. And Julieta, who is so responsible and mature at a young age (or, trained herself to be in order to deal with her mother who is under stress), and has a gift which required her to practice, probably feel a lot of resentment towards him (and towards Pepa too) for being able to enjoy themselves while she is forced to be older than she is and work. Okay rambling done
