Ya'll know that certain things, I need time to decompress after digesting. Injustice and brutality, most specifically, towards Black people and POC, takes an incredible toll on my mind and spirit. #EndSars #EndSarsBrutality #EndSarsNow #PrayForNigeria #StandWithNigeria the many issues of brutality, war, rape, government corruption, and slavery in several of the countries in Africa have ALWAYS weighed on my spirit. My mother and her educated Black village who helped to raise me always made sure I was aware of the atrocities taking place in the diaspora. Those that know me know I take these horrors personally. I sit in the images, knowledge and details of the pain, and spiritually that pain sits in me, heavy. Sometimes I will have panic attacks, sometimes I will cry, most times I sit in presence of my bloodline, my ancestors and I listen to them. Sometimes it's scary sometimes it's comforting, sometimes it's all I can do aside from pray and donate to help in times like these. #endnigeriangovernment #endcorruptioninnigeria #endpolicebrutality #Donate #BLM The blood of family is being spilled and painted with.... I'm so complex I swear, even I don't get me. I maybe treat life like a dystopian game. It's like when I'm good I'm great and when I'm bad I burn it all to the ground and like how it feels playing in the flames. I only ever mean a little harm and it's only ever personal when I didn't think that I meant it. I be wanting to be so close, almost exhale your air so that you'll never forget me but I find myself in the same moment wanting to be so far away that you never knew me to begin with. I want to be loved all the way but only a little bit at the same time. Teach me but don't tell me what to do. I see everything I want in you and everything I hate about myself in the meantime. I don't want to make the wrong choices unless they end up being the right ones in which case I have to destroy it all and start from scratch soon as I like one. I either tell the whole truth and never stop or convince even myself of this new lie, like I'm exactly who I thought I was until I'm rebirthed as the new guy. The same careless spirit that finds the aesthetic of every era in which Black people weren't free, beautiful and idealistic. • The same careless spirit that causes the predominantly White medical field to disregard the complaints, pain, needs and access of Black patients in eminent fatality. • The same careless spirit that up until the mid 2000s, believed medically that Black people and specifically Black kids felt less pain. • The same careless spirit that gets aggravated at the fight for justice, than the injustice itself. That gets appalled at the reaction Black people have when being disrespected/devalued than the disrespect and dehumanization itself. • The same careless spirit that moves white lips to say "why do you have to bring race into it," "it's not about race," "I don't see color" and "omg, race is irrelevant;" when white bodies don't recognize race as being relevant or involved unless there's an overt lynching or slur because you as the White majority you are raceless. — running unopposed on a track made of the blood, pain, scars, and trauma of every other color of person God created • The same careless spirit that JUST CAN'T BARE not to be able to say "nigga." As if you have ANY RIGHT to ANY word connected to the history YOU REFUSE to accept, acknowledge, learn from, respect, admit privilege from, or give it's monetary due.
