John would be so confused upon walking into an IKEA. Wandering into the showrooms would be so odd for him I think it would go something like this:
"Arthur there's so many rooms here. They're connected but they don't look like they belong together. They're ornate but unlived in."
"what?"
"Arthur something sinister is going on here. This place is humongous, never ending. There's scripture everywhere. Arthur... what is a Djungelskog"

Let's imagine for a moment that at the end of all the nightmares and traumas, John will finally get his own body. Some discoveries will be pleasant. But some don't.
Yeah, John, humanity sucks.

JOHN (in acknowledgement): Huh.
ARTHUR: What?
JOHN: Dawn. (A gentle, upbeat piano tune begins to play.)
ARTHUR: Dawn?
JOHN: The sun is rising. Amber slices of morning light are cutting their way through the window and into the room.
ARTHUR: Tomorrow came.
JOHN: It’s a new beginning, Arthur. A clean slate.
ARTHUR: No, no. Not a clean slate.
JOHN: No? I thought that’s what you wanted.
ARTHUR: That was easier than to remember what I’ve learned, what I’ve preached, not only to you but myself that… that we can’t escape these things we’ve done.
JOHN: Okay.
ARTHUR: But it still is another. And I’d rather… greet a new day like an old friend. With fondness… and appreciation.
JOHN: Okay, Arthur.

I should have left. I should have turned around and walked back the way I’d come and accepted that I’d never see her again. Instead, I did the stupidest thing I’ve ever done. There, caught up in a series of events that I didn’t understand but that terrified me, and drowning in emotions that I still can’t explain, I asked if I could kiss her. Without warning, she put her hands either side of my head. I realized it was the first time our skin had ever touched, and I could feel the intense, hellish heat that radiated from inside her. But it was too late. She leaned in and kissed me. There are no words to describe the pain.

I guess if we're doing this sort of thing, best I can manage is Johannes VIII's annotated review of Eater of Wasps. Give it a read-through for gross body horror, family drama, apocalyptic wasps, and the Doctor being adorably delighted over the prospect of driving a tractor.

I got motivated by that one ask about the comic adaptation of 'The Voice In The Night': There is a Chilean Stop-Motion animated adaptation of 'El Almohadón de Plumas (The Feather Pillow)'. It is free to watch on YouTube, and it has English subtitles!
Like with the ask before me, this isn't exactly propaganda, I just find that animated short to be really well made and I wanted to recommend it to more people, if that's okay. Here's the link!

'The Voice in the Night' also had a comic adaptation here on tumblr, which I can't for the life of me remember where to find; I don't know if this counts as "propaganda" or not, because I'm not saying that it's more FITTING, only that it's more FAMILIAR to me (because that comic crossed my dash).
Found it

El almohadón de plumas (The feather pillow) (Horacio Quiroga) "The quiet, fragile happiness between Alicia and her aloof but still deeply in love husband Jordan is cut short when, just three months after their wedding, she mysteriously falls deathly ill. Jordan keeps bringing doctors to check on her, but to no avail: No doctor can answer why this young woman is suddenly and visibly dying with every night that passes.
Saying anything more would spoil the plot twist, so here's the Project Gutenberg link
SPOILERS BELOW CUT"
Ant Colony (From Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls) (Alissa Nutting) "When space on earth became very limited, it was declared all people had to host another organism on or inside of their bodies. Many people chose something noninvasive, such as barnacles or wig-voles. Some women had breast operations that allowed them to accommodate small aquatic life within implants. But because I was already perfectly-breasted (and, admittedly, vain) I sought out a doctor who, for several thousands of dollars, drilled holes into my bones to make room for an ant colony."
It is with that paragraph that begins Ant Colony, a short story published as part of the book Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls, the debut short story collection of author Alissa Nutting. Beside the obvious Corruption theme of its very premise, the rest of the story also touches on another, often overlooked element of this Entity: Twisted, unhealthy love."
SPOILERS BELOW CUT
Feather Pillow, cont.: Not only are bloodsucking parasites well within the Corruption's domain, but it should also be noted that a common motif across those who fall victim to this particular entity is a desire for love or to connect with others, which the Entity takes advantage of. Alicia's wish for 'childish fancies', her resigned frustration with her husband's unaffectionate attitude and her seemingly complete lack of other human relationships besides said husband would make her fit right in with that pattern. And in a TMA context, the bug growing that impossibly big and yet no one being able to notice it until it was too late could easily be explained as being due to both the bug and the circumstances around its existence being supernatural in nature.
Ant Colony, cont.: The plot twist of the story is that the ants hadn't begun eating the nameless narrator alive from within because the queen ant hated her, as the other doctors she talks to had theorized, but because the doctor who she had paid to implant the ants into her bones, who had already been established as having a creepy crush on her, had been purposely manipulating things in order to get the ants to assimilate her consciousness and eat her whole from the very beginning, all so that he could get the ant colony to inhabit him next because, as he puts it: "When you all crawl inside of me, we will all be one forever."

do you all remember in the early 2010s where people were talking about freeing the nipple and that mixed-gender sports should become a thing and the removal of period tax and all of that and then some people realised that would mean trans people too ans they instantly decided to revert to bioessentialism 101 and now i have to see grating sentences like Well maybe jeopardy should be gender-segregated because males have a biological advantage in pressing a button

It is frustrating how understanding of “rape culture” has totally evaporated. When we talk about sexual violence or pedophilia or incest or any of these things, it’s never within the framework of these as extensions of patriarchy, not “deviant,” but an integral element.
People are so desperate to project these onto The Other. Often it’s a vague “the predator” lurking in the bushes, when in reality most sexual violence (against children and adults) comes from those close to them with systemic power over them: The Boyfriend, The Father, The Manager. But more often it’s projected onto a more specific Other, commonly coupled with either Orientalism or Transmisogyny, but of course has been used more broadly.
It’s clear that there is no principled opposition to the sexual harm or deviancy here, otherwise the primary targets would be patriarchy and the nuclear family. Instead, these issues are raised to be projected onto Others to justify bigotry that in the past required none.

normal brain: playing pokemon B/W as a nuzlocke or efficient playthrough proves N right because you turned your pokemon into tools for your own personal gain
galaxy brain: playing pokemon X/Y without using mega evolution proves Lysandre right, because you are presented with a scarcity scenario with the mega ring and you use your strength to selfishly decide that nobody should have or use one
universe brain: Resetting pokemon D/P/Pt proves Cyrus right because you have full control over the game’s universe and can freely remake it in your image on a whim.
