Robin Williams committed suicide after being diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Bruce Willis just learned that his illness is Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Lewy Body Dementia. One of the hardest things to process is the slow change in the one you love. Becoming a completely different person. Everything changes. It's called the long goodbye. A rapidly shrinking brain is how a doctor described it. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are and become less themselves. Patients can eventually become bedridden, unable to move, and unable to eat or drink or talk to their loved ones. There will be those who scroll past this post because Dementia or Alzheimer's has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has fought or is fighting a battle against Dementia or Alzheimer's. They are the lucky ones. In an effort to raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like to see at least 5 of my friends put this on their timelines. I'll settle for one. LOVE THEM THROUGH THE LONG GOODBYE. If ever I was in need of #JakeRyan to make it all better or #JasonVoorhees to gut me like a fish, tonight would def be the night. I'm #KeepinItReal with this one kids. Let's just say I've got A LOT going on and I was holding it together until about an hour ago. The following key factors played into me losing my shit: •Empty nesting sucks. •I'm moving in 14 days. My house is a minefield of boxes and Goodwill piles. •I'm a grinder and a clencher. Yesterday, I managed to clench my jaw so hard it popped out of place on the right side. Yeah, that happened. •My new contacts only work well in daylight. •Ollie accidentally broke my finger yesterday. •Ollie scratched his eye which requires drops. He won't let me put the drops in his eye. The vet gave me drugs which will "fuck him up" to knock him out for the drops. He still tries to bite me BUT they fuck him up enough that he can't make it outside to pee. An hour ago as I walked in the dark through the Beirut that is my living room, I didn't see the Gulf of Ollie Piss and slipped on the wet tile. Broken finger, fat ass and aching head crashed to the floor in one very painful flop. Covered in piss and swearing I just laid there hoping the angel of death would be swift and merciful. Alas, he was not and there I lay soaked, throbbing and defeated. Floor mopped, clothes in the washer, showered and no drops in the damn dog's eye, I'm going to bed. This is gonna hurt like a motherfucker tomorrow (old bitches don't bounce). So, just know behind the lip gloss and a shit ton of hair products my smile will be as fake as my lashes.
