This first thing I thought when I woke up from surgery was I am so hungry and I need ramen right now! but the second thing I thought was Oh my god, I'm safe.
I was safe.
I thought about having kids someday, but the thought was always divorced from the concept of having to grow them in my body. Whenever I thought about it, I would either start screaming or my mind would shut down. My worst nightmares featured discovering I was pregnant, and realizing I would have to keep it, and go through childbirth. I was terrified.
I got the surgery, and realized I was safe, and I never had those nightmares ever again. It was like finding out I was bulletproof.
Later, I looked at the broken condom, and I didn't see my life flash before my eyes. I didn't see my hopes and dreams turn to ash as I pivoted all my energy into a child I didn't want. I didn't see a possibility of starvation or homelessness because my already modest income went to a child I couldn't afford. I didn't see my disabled body becoming further disabled, or killed, by a pregnancy that I didn't want.

During Pride, pause before interacting with protesters.
Many of them want you to get upset and abuse them. They want to incense you so that you'll try to hurt them. It's all part of the plan. Every negative interaction that a protestor has with the LGBTQIA community just serves to reinforce their belief that queer culture is angry, hateful, offensive and wrong. It legitimizes their stance as being the only rightful, goodhearted way of life.
This is doubly true when protestors involve their own children. They intentionally generate negative reactions in order to further isolate followers in their cause. They want that spectacle, and will use it to install fear of the outside world in their kids.
You don't have to respond to homophobes. You don't have to react to them at all. It's hard, when they're the ones spreading hate and insults, and it puts a lot of pressure on you to police your tone. I really can't blame anyone if they lash out. But try to pause and recognize the game being played here - Are you really going to just give them what they want?
So with gas being so expensive and groceries also being more expensive grocery shopping is becoming a whole *thing* now. The cheaper grocery stores are down the highway while the more expensive hip grocery stores are on my street… lots of pro and con-ing going on. basically I’m saying tear down Whole Foods and build an Aldi thanks
Prof Earl Miller, a neuroscientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, explained one to me. He said “your brain can only produce one or two thoughts” in your conscious mind at once. That’s it. “We’re very, very single-minded.” We have “very limited cognitive capacity”. But we have fallen for an enormous delusion. The average teenager now believes they can follow six forms of media at the same time. When neuroscientists studied this, they found that when people believe they are doing several things at once, they are actually juggling. “They’re switching back and forth. They don’t notice the switching because their brain sort of papers it over to give a seamless experience of consciousness, but what they’re actually doing is switching and reconfiguring their brain moment-to-moment, task-to-task – [and] that comes with a cost.” Imagine, say, you are doing your tax return, and you receive a text, and you look at it – it’s only a glance, taking three seconds – and then you go back to your tax return. In that moment, “your brain has to reconfigure, when it goes from one task to another”, he said. You have to remember what you were doing before, and you have to remember what you thought about it. When this happens, the evidence shows that “your performance drops. You’re slower. All as a result of the switching.”
This is called the “switch-cost effect”. It means that if you check your texts while trying to work, you aren’t only losing the little bursts of time you spend looking at the texts themselves – you are also losing the time it takes to refocus afterwards, which turns out to be a huge amount. For example, one study at the Carnegie Mellon University’s human computer interaction lab took 136 students and got them to sit a test. Some of them had to have their phones switched off, and others had their phones on and received intermittent text messages. The students who received messages performed, on average, 20% worse. It seems to me that almost all of us are currently losing that 20% of our brainpower, almost all the time. Miller told me that as a result we now live in “a perfect storm of cognitive degradation”.
There is no safe reason to spread their name further.
Accounts have been spamming asks with the same general formula: linking the group's full website and making a vague connection between them and Wicca/Norse gods/paganism/Hinduism/some form of non-Western religion. This is bait to get the responder to spend their time researching the group and either debunking its connection or going along with the claim. Both results in the neo-nazis getting more attention.
The Buffalo shooting occurred in a food desert. That was the main groceries store and it’ll be closed for quite some time. So here is one concrete thing we can do to help and that’s donating to the link below:
Even if you do a ton of exercises that target specific body parts, you’ll never be able to force your body to directly lose weight from there.
The only thing that will cause your body to lose weight is a calorie deficit. No amount of strength training or cardio will cause weight loss if you’re not burning more than you’re consuming. Yet even then, your body is what controls how and where you store fat.
Not to mention that 1. most of these exercises have nothing to do with the body part they're placed next to, and 2. body parts like your breasts and collarbones aren't muscles that can be exercised into shape!
