More inadvisable ways to introduce a replacement for a dead Dungeons & Dragons character mid adventure:
Hanging from a gallows, apparently dead, only to speak up and request help getting down at the party’s approach; when they ask how you survived, simply remark that you have a very strong neck
Appearing in a flash of light in response to some seemingly innocuous action, tearfully thanking the party for “finally breaking the curse”
The next ogre or other large humanoid the party encounters is wielding you as a club
Wandering aimlessly from around the next bend, peering at an enormous fold-out map and loudly insisting you could have sworn this was the way to Waterdeep
Falling screaming from the sky, and landing miraculously unharmed; if questioned, mutter something about bats and refuse to elaborate
(replacement character is at least one size category smaller) It turns out that you were in the deceased character’s backpack the whole time

Technically, clerics don’t draw power from their gods, they draw power from their faith. There are many clerics who draw power from faith in concepts like nature, the elements, or Justice. Then there’s that one weirdo who is powered by their faith in other people.

I'm Running Tomb of Horrors via SurveyMonkey Poll (and you can play!)
Tumblr media
Hi im Minibit, your GM. Remember Twitch Plays Pokemon? This is like that, but for tomb of horrors and with surveymonkey polls.
I didn't plan to run the most notoriously lethal dungeon in d&d, but I was curious if it would be possible to run a single-character game for a group using a poll system, and ToH is the module I rolled to try it with. So far it's a lot of fun!
Details are under the read-more for those who want them, but if you're already on board here's the Google Doc!
I'll be updating the doc with the new survey link when they go out. I'll also post around the dice game communities with the tag #Tomb of Surveys, which you can block if you're not interested.
The long version:
System is Maze Rats melded with the 1e Tomb of Horrors module. We're doing our best to stay true to the spirit of the original adventure, which is best summarized as "Acererak is a dick."
You don’t need to own or understand either rule system. Just vote on what you think Morgot will do, and I’ll use the rules from my end to tell you the results.
When you need to know a rule to make an informed decision, I’ll explain it in the survey option.
Everyone shares one character and votes on what they do in a SurveyMonkey poll. That way your horrible deaths are democratic.
I do my best to put all the info you need in the survey, but you can still ask clarifying questions before you vote.
Don’t ask “can I do [thing that isn’t a survey option] instead?” though. Because of the format, this game is more videogamey than your typical “you can do anything!” ttrp game.
Polls close after 24 hours
New polls go up when I get a minute, its not consistent but there are ways to get notified when it goes up (ask me about it)

Yeah, the dungeon es going to have a powerful anti magic feild that can only be weakend by special candles found inside, each candle burns a different colour which allows for only a single unique spell to be cast under its light by whoever lit the candle, there will be pink candles that heal any living thing their light shines upon, and will weaken the undead boss at the end
anon have you ever played dungeon crawl classic because this is the kind of bullshit (affectionate) they do
