I had a very cute interaction with my S/O today!! I was pre-gaming aka listening to every Epic song because the next saga is coming up soon, and the moment I got into the room, Warrior of The Mind was playing, specifically in the chorus.
Then I just heard my S/O humming along with Athena!!!! He pays attention to what I listen and it's always Epic and I was so... GHDSGFEFJ!!
Glad you asked! As the Underworld Saga is coming out soon, here is an overview of the character, in both Greek Mythology, and in Epic the Musical!!
First of all, in Greek Mythology he is, to me at least, a very, Very, VERY, confusing figure. (I won’t get into it all here, so don’t get mad at me for not trying to explain it all. Feel free to do your own research, but be prepared.) As in, I can’t seem to find any sources that quite agree on his origins, or the circumstances that surround his myths. Most agree he was blinded for revealing the secrets of the gods, but others that he angered the gods in some ways, or saw Athena bathing, or some other manner. In any case, his gift of foresight was in most cases given to him to make up for his blindness.
The part that gets confusing is he seems to change genders quite a lot, the most notable being the one caused by Hera, turning him female after he disturbed some snakes. Eventually he gets turned back male, though some other versions have Tiresias switch multiple other times (?).
Sometimes he is credited with the invention of augury (using birds to tell the future, usually through observation). He also apparently lived a really long time, almost seven generations, before he died. He was allowed to keep his foresight in the underworld, which then he uses later when Odysseus consults him.
In Epic, we know that Tiresias is the dead prophet that Circe sent Odysseus to talk to. Tiresias then tells Odysseus that he would make it home, but no longer be the same person! He sings the song No Longer You!
Hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine ~ ✨❣️

JoanFK, for the first time in forever, I finally drew you :<< also, I've been listening to Cruel Summer too many times since the start of the weekend, which made me finally draw this idea that's been living in my head for a year now.
I have been playing with lights, shadows, compositions, and the overall idea I have based on one line from the song's second verse, but I was never confident to actually draw it. But today, I knew this would be it.
I miss JoanFK. I miss the wishful thinking I had when S2 wasn't greenlit yet. I miss daydreaming about them. Now all I can think about is how bad they were written in S2 :<<<
beautifully said or erm... enumerated?? I had the same sentiments when the second season came out. I just miss the chaos that season one brought to the table. I hated how this show was too cautious, to say the least.
AT LEAST MAKE FUN OF THE THINGS THAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. Why are they holding back huhu
I miss the goofy and unhinge clone high.
what do you think of the reboot? i've seen some people say that it ruined the original show and characters, or that it would have been better if a continuation never existed in the first place. you are a pretty big fan and one of those people who liked season 1 before the reboot aired, so maybe you have an interesting point of view.
This ask has been in my box for a hot sec. Here goes:
Based on how S1 skillfully balanced bizarre comedy and very real emotional beats, I kinda expected the new Clone High to take an interesting twist on the whole parody show/clone of historical figure/skeuomorphism thing going on. The clones would have to grapple with not only the DNA they've been forced to be born with, but the writers of the show themselves. As the clones grow and 'escape' the expectations forced on them by being clones of historical figures, they would also 'escape' the parody tropes they've been forced to embody. They would truly become their own people, wether that means embracing their pre-established identity, discovering a new one that's always been there(dig deep down!!), or a mix of the two.
Ok done with my CH idea. Onto bitching:
I HAAATE the new JFK. Hate. He's boring. All the edge and fascinating qualities he had are gone. What a waste of a character that had JUST started a gradual uphill character arc at the end of S1. Woof.
New CH needs a proper ass antagonist for viewers to love to hate, like JFK or Cleo in S1(COUGH MY RASPUTIN cOUGH). I'm not talking the SBOSF or Candide-level(its not like theyre doing diddlysquat anyway) but a student character(s) to pose a threat to the main character. I FULLY expected Topher to go full incel and drag Abe down with him at some point. And if not something THAT extreme, let's have some new character challenge the old ones or, hell, act as a mirror or a FOIL. Just a character that forces our familiar ones to act/adapt in an ACTUALLY IMPACTFUL WAY.(WHEEZE MY RASPUTIN HACK COUGH)
Speaking of, the new clones are too…… milktoast. Yeah they have their flaws, but damn in comparison to the fun chaotic dynamic that was Joan/Abe/Gandhi/JFK/Cleo in S1, these new guys are just so bleh. And I WANT to like them! I really do. There's just a lack of actual petty ass conflict a la S1 Cleo v Joan that I genuinely miss.
And characters aren't consistent. Don't get me wrong, I want them to grow and adapt as characters as seasons progress. If they didn't that'd be SO boring. But there are SO many moments where characters say one thing one moment and then do the opposite the next. Doing this on purpose is one thing, but in this case it just feels unintentional and sloppy.
(i interrupt to give a positive) I adore the visual style. SO much. I'm in awe at how well the crew nailed the UPA Revival style on the head! It's clean, it's pretty, and dammit it's SO much fun to watch.
None of the romantic relationships mean anything. They get together. They do the tongue thing. They break up. The 2 characters then act like nothing ever happened between them and there's no change in their individual development. Yeah, I get it's a parody show and all but man it's hard to feel like it's worth getting invested in characters when WE KNOW THAT NOTHING OF VALUE WILL COME FROM THE RELATIONSHIPS THESE CHARACTERS GET INTO. idk! maybe im just a whiny little prick but it just feels like How To Kill Your Fandom 101! Do you want people to be invested or not?!?!?!
I dearly wish we had more episodes :(( I wish there was a little more time to breathe between the breakneck pace of the eps. Really missing the pacing the S1 Ponce ep had.
The writing needs more edge. 9/11 jokes. Incels. Pick-me Girls. etc. COMMIT TO ITTT. This show is shockingly scared of pissing off certain groups of insufferable people
I know I bitch a lot, but I do enjoy the new seasons. It's hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice and writing for a show that was cancelled 20 years ago is fucking hard. Especially when you have a fandom comprised of two very different generations of people with very different interpretations of the characters/show itself. I can't imagine the push and pull that occurred in production over the story. Shits hard! Execs are out of touch! Fandoms are annoying! How do any of us complete anything ever lol. Be nice to other fans and be especially nice to crew members, even if you are airing criticisms.
