Dean calls Cas many names when they get together, ranging from endearing and sweet like ‘sweetheart’ and ‘angel face’ and ‘love of my life’ to teasing things like ‘dumbass’ and ‘bud’ and ‘dude.’ But Cas’ favorite name that Dean calls him is an endearment that slipped out on accident one night. “Future husband of mine, can you hand me that blade?” Dean had asked as they were packing things back into the Impala after a hunt. Cas had picked the blade up and was inches away from handing it to the hunter when he froze, the pet name finally registering. “You just… did you just call me your future husband?” Cas stuttered out, lungs squeezing tightly and hands shaking as his heart raced in his chest. Dean smiled, a flush rising in his cheeks as he nodded; caught somewhere between nervous and confident. “Gonna ask you to marry me someday. Maybe even soon,” Dean murmured. Cas felt lightheaded and breathless as he pulled Dean into a frenzied kiss, dropping the blade to the ground as he wrapped his arms around Dean’s waist to pull him closer. “I think I’d like that very much, my dear future husband,” Cas said against Dean’s mouth, kissing him until they were both smiling too hard to press their mouths together.

One time a friend told me that if she wanted to have a chill night she would come to me and ask for tea and a book to read. I didn’t like tea at the time, but I always made sure my cupboards had them in case she needed a quiet night. One time I told my boss that I loved oranges, but couldn’t peel them because of my nails. For a year he made sure to peel me one at least once a week. Once my friends gave me a made up superlative of “most likely to have a pen they could borrow” and ever since I’ve made sure I always carry a pen with me. A long time ago, my high school librarian told me that no one would care what my grade in my sophomore chemistry class was if I’m bringing them doughnuts and asking them about their day.
