One of my FAVOURITE ship dynamics to write or read in fics is when two characters are basically already a couple but they just haven’t realised it yet. They call each other up at like 3am, they cuddle, they sleep in the same bed, they fall asleep in each other’s arms, they hold hands, they practically live together, they talk about having a ~ special connection ~, they just haven’t actually kissed or done the do or talked about their feelings yet so they’re still both like “but I just don’t know if they like me in that way!!”

1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?

Oof, I spend so much time daydreaming about stoires, both before I start them and while I'm writing them. It helps explore where I think the story is going and sketch out scenes in my head. I am definitely one of those people who plays themselves a little movie from my fic in my head before I go to sleep 😁

15. What’s your favorite time to write?

I write by habit in the mornings, between about 8am and midday, but sometimes I like to settle down in the evening. That's my illicit, no stress writing time, and I do love it!

36. What fic are you proudest of?

Oh, that's a tricky one. I'm proud of them all, honestly, but Gilded Cage and Hiraeth are probably at the top, just because of the scale and complexity of them. I'm proud that I managed/am managing to pull it off 😁

43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?

I keep getting tempted with a modern Merthur AU, very much inspired by Horsecrazy's fantastic modern AUs. Idiots in love. best friends pining. That sort of thing!

51. Does what you like to write differ from what you like to read?

Probably the biggest difference is I've never got on brilliantly well with multiple PoVs in novels, but in fanfic, I do tend to write that way 🤣 I'm perhaps also a bit more adventurous in my reading than my writing at times!

To recognize TERFs, anti’s, fash, incels and other internet shitstains, one pattern you need to recognize is this:

They take some normal human behavior

Explain it in the darkest, most bad faith way possible

And then ignore any other, often more realistic, explanation.

A simple example:

A lot of adults watch TV shows about high school relationship drama.

Dark bad faith take: all these adults are obsessing over teenager sex lives because they want to fuck teenagers.

More realistic explanation: a lot of adults have memories of their own high school relationship drama that they like to relive, process, etc through media.

Another realistic explanation: People can empathize with the stories of hobbits, dragons, defense lawyers, plucky detectives, space rebels, talking dogs and teenagers in high school without always having a desire to fuck the characters involved. It is possible to just enjoy a story as a story without it fulfilling some emotional of sexual need.

Like, when you take a tiny step back, it becomes clear that the jump from ‘adults watch high school dramas’ to ‘they all want to fuck teenagers’ is absolute moon logic.

This logic only works if you assume the absolute worst possible things about the group you’re talking about. This logic works if the only lens you can see a group through is ‘predator’ and you do not acknowledge that they are completely humans who can just do non-predatory things like ‘enjoying stories’.

And assuming the absolute worst possible things about a specific group while denying their complexity and humanity… well, that is absolutely key to what TERFs, anti’s, fashos, incels, etc. do.
