What do you mean by poc people complaining about white supremacy just to complain?

As I want to clarify I’m not trying to argue or start a fight I’m asking out of genuine curiosity because I don’t go looking for people complaining about white supremacy and as a poc person myself I’m just curious on what you mean? And please don’t take this as anything hostile this line just genuinely confused me I’m not trying to be hostile

What I wrote was:

This may be an error of punctuation on my part but that was an exemple of the kind of straw men caricature the show was portraying their poc characters as.

Velma brings up very real issues as throw away phrases… and they are never brought back again. She just says it as a rebuttal and nothing more.

Right after that paragraph I add a expansion on that thought:

Where they (the poc characters) bring genuine arguments people make but with zero nuance or thought behind them, instead the writers put what THEY imagine it is about and, 99.9% of the time, they attribute it to people being “tOo sEnSiTiVe” and “tRiGgErEd SnOwFlAkEs”

Those are exemples. On that whole section of the post (the second of all section) all the paragraphs that start with “Where…” are exemples and expansions on those examples.

There is! Here is some of the non Dog Doos:

Uncle Bolts (Spooky Doo’s robot duplicate) adopted Timmy Doo, the roomba;

Cousin Linguini kinda accidentally found his Doo in Remy, the rat, so there was no Doo adoption here;

Uncle Albert, by virtue of being Shaggy’s mom’s brother, is kinda of a honorary Rogers. He doesn’t have a familiar per say, but that didn’t stop the Doos from pack bonding with Robi, the robot butler;

Uncle William had Bonnie Doo, the yellow bunny, who was found by our beloved Great Dane extended family on the side of the road;

Cousin Magali has Mingau, the white cat. Mingau comes from a long line of cat Doos that went abroad with the Lima branch of the Rogers family;

Cousin Stu straight up had a tiny demon, Spawn Doo. Spawn was adopted by another non dog Doo, Harvest Doo, Stu’s sister’s, Leslie, black cat. (Harvest spent a whole week staring at the void behind the couch until one day she laughed at it and dragged Spawn out of it by the scruff of his neck).

There is great debate between the Rogers side and the Macher side of the family if Stu was like that because of Spawn’s influence or Stu being like that attracted Spawn to him but neither side can deny that both were made for each other.

Also you should know that Spawn, by virtue of being a demon, circumvented the “once together, always together” rule, where when the Rogers die (in this case, the Macher) his/her/their Doo follows. So Spawn remains vigilant at his human’s grave. When the family comes to check on Stu (to make sure he didn’t pull a Uncle William and attached his soul to the mortal realm so he could “always come back”) they bring some steak for him in his tiny stone house he made with some rocks nearby (they also renew the spells that stops him from trying to resurrect Stu with a blood sacrifice. Again.)

With Yabba's appearance in "Us But Not Quite" (love Stone's reaction of "oh god the dog has an accent!"), I am curious. Where does he fall on the "bound-unbound" scale in your Rogers Family AU? (side note: I do remember him actually using magic in one ep, and it was that an egg appeared under his hat and it hatched. this was after a very long plot involving a magician, iirc.)

A question for the Desi Scooby Fans

Hi guys! In my quest to rewrite the horror show that was HBO Velma, I decide to also redesign the characters, making some changes, mostly to their wardrobe, sometimes to their appearance. I will be keeping the changes in ethnicities while adding accordingly to the demands (my demands. I’m the one demanding) like making Shaggy Afro-Brazilian.

Now this brings me to my current query:

Is this design correct for Velma

I wanted to bring more influence from India into her design, but I’m also not Desi myself (I’m Brazilian) and India is a very big place with vastly different habits and traditions depending on where you are. Being half American would also add in ways I can’t even fathom.

If you guys could send me information (or direct me to somewhere where I can learn more) about how a Desi-American Lesbian girl would act, dress in her day to day, also reliable information about what religion she would practice and how it all would shape how she sees, interprets and interacts with the world I would be eternally grateful

In the rewrite that lives in my head of HBOVelma I thought about a gag where everyone swears at least once (it will depend on the character obviously. I will make that swearing meme at some point to exemplify what I mean)… except Fred

A Barbie Movie Thought:

(Spoilers ahead)

So I just watched Barbie for the third time (girl help I’m obsessed) and I noticed something:

Stereotypical Ken is not friends with the other Kens. Or at least he is not looking in the other Kens for emotional support, not like the Barbies do for each other. His only relationship with another Ken is with Pompadour Ken, but that is a rivalry.

He doesn’t play “guess what bird I’m thinking of” with the other Kens, or talk with the other Barbies when they are not talking to him first. Hell, ALLAN, HIS BEST FRIEND, HIS BUDDY, who spends half of his few moments in the movie worried about Ken and his well being is not even an after thought for Ken.

His only relationship is with Stereotypical Barbie. And when that turns out to not be the kind of emotional fulfillment he wants (he wants romance, she wants friendship) he has no other emotional net to fall back too.

And I don’t know about you guys, but that sounds a hell of a lot like those men that think they found their dream woman and that they connect so well and they are meant to be… when in reality he is just experiencing his very first open emotional connection with another human being, because that kind of emotional vulnerability was not nurtured between him and other men in his life.

And when this “perfect dream girl” reveals that she only sees him as a friend… well it’s easier to turn her house in a Mojo Dojo Casa House™️ then go to therapy

Ken literally needed a whole ass musical number with the other Kens to emotionally connect with them, so by the end they are uplifting each other (just like the Barbies always did for each other with the exception of the Weird Barbies and Kens who they are now learning to accept) instead of beaching each other on broad day light
