2. Love Oz teasingly mentioning that Qrow called him pipsqueak once. Teasing Ozpin is one of my many favorite versions of Oz.

3. THE WAY I KNEW OSCAR WAS GONNA HAVE A IDENTITY CRISIS THE MOMENT EMERALD SAID “OS”! And then he did and the poor boy did and he felt like he was in a sea he couldn’t escape

4. I love that Oz calling out to Oscar to get through to him. I looooove me some concerned and caring Ozpin, that’s my freakin jam!!! 😭

5. ONCE AGAIN THE COLORS USED?! When Oscar’s comes back to reality and his eyes snaps open and we see all those versions of green, I love it

6. THE WAY MY HEART HURT AT THE END!? Oscar’s sadly saying that he’ll be Oscar forever knowing full well that to him that likely isn’t the case and then Oz not being able to say anything cuz he knows that exact feeling and knows he can’t do or say anything to make Oscar feel better

I had a WIP of an old VERY angsty pre-merge Ozpin comic just burning a hole through my pocket since 2022, is it worth finishing and uploading?

The Goal knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he sent Ozma down. He knew that Ozma would want to see Salem. He was counting on it. I’m even willing to bet that the GoL likely knew how everything was going to end with Ozma and Salem on his line:

“Where you seek comfort you will only find pain”

The God didn’t chose Oz randomly, it was well thought out and planned the moment Salem threw herself into the pool of Grimm.

so i’ve been thinking about oscar and ozmosis a lot and nobody is surprised but anyways

so that entails thinking about the original ozma and his ‘choice’ to reincarnate although it wasn’t much of one

and i want to talk about that!

this is gonna be really long so everything under the cut

SO!

he didn’t know what it would entail and now he’s been thrown into an eternity of dying, being reborn, merge, and repeat which essentially puts them in a constant state of motion, never getting to take a break

but we all know the tragedy of this, immortality is a curse first and foremost and i like to talk about that BUT that’s not the point of this post. because i’m already planning to go further in depth with that <3

but i want to talk about the reason he’s in this situation, the one who gave him this ‘choice’

so for a while i was like. wait. why would the gods bring ozma back if they made salem immortal so they could never be together until she learned her lesson?

but then i thought about it. and i realized that’s exactly why they choose him.

because of course there were other human heroes they could choose from, why would they choose ozma? it feels like he’d be the least likely choice because of salem, she’d never learn her lesson if they brought him back

but then think about it from their side. what incentive would anyone have to come back to life? everyone they know and love would be in the afterlife with them, they have no need to return.

except oz would. because how could he say no with the knowledge that the person he loves is still there, alone, forever?

how little of a choice he already have—who would decline a job directly from the gods to save humanity—now with the knowledge that she was alive? how could he possibly say no?

he didn’t even get to think about what would happen if he and salem fought. he didn’t get to think about what this ‘life’ would entail because he heard that she was still alive and he could go back to be with her.

and then the love they had turned to hate, only now that he was all alone he could truly realize the horrible consequences of that choice. only now could he realize how cruel this really was.

that the brief time of love that he’d experienced was in exchange for an eternity of suffering.

There's something so wholesome about the fact that Mario told Princess Peach– a beautiful, beloved protector– Luigi's name long before his own, while Luigi told Bowser– a terrifying, threatening tyrant– his own name with little provocation while Mario's had to be violently forced out of him.

Like, they really do be putting each other first, even in the subtlest of ways.

I ended up adding spots of a bunch of different colors, one to get a bit of an oily sheen texture, and two because I think Oz’ aura is probably a mishmash of different colors that *mostly* settle into green but still peek through here and there.

I’ve also always wondered if Oscar’s aura was originally green. I mean, he hadn’t unlocked it until he met Oz, so…

EXACTLY! Like Oz went through the exact same pain and confusion as Oscar is going through.

He knows and understands all that Oscar is feeling, of which is very sympathetic and apologetic too. He’s always telling Oscar how sorry he is

It’s why he’s so desperate to make Hazel understand that Oscar doesn’t deserve this. He’s just a kid, like the youngest of all the Oz’s probably. It’s why he’s always trying to reassure Oscar and be there for him in times of stress.

He knows none of this is fair. Because he went through the same thing. And he wishes thing could be different for Oscar because he doesn’t want this either

He knows that neither of them asked for this, he knows it’s hopeless to try but he’s is going to do so, all for Oscar’s sake and well being.

Watch him have the most heartbreaking backstory ever

I get the Toads raised Peach and she doesn't want to put her adoptive family in danger, but those little dudes still gotta take a page from the main Toad's book

I think there was a reason why Toad saw Mario wandering around in the wilderness looking for his brother and his immediate reaction was "You. Me. Best buds. Right now. We're going on an adventure!!!"

He clearly has a lot of love for his kingdom and a fair amount of friends, but it must be lonely being the only toad with an ounce of bravery.

Oscar remembers the day Oz died and it’s really painful for the both of them. Oscar’s crying, and Oz is repeating how sorry he is, how he should have stayed dead, so that he could save Oscar this pain. And Oscar, through tears is comforting Oz while Oz comforts him, still saying through a broken voice how sorry he is.

Oh I can see it being similar yet different like my Always At Your Side fic but ten times better then I could ever write and also ten times worse in the angst department.

Literally can you imagine if it were either of them? If we actually got that depiction in animation form? Good lord I would CEASE, I would cry, I would wail even if it would only be for a moment and then the 1 up mushroom kicks in.

No one talks about how heartbreaking it is. Here Oz is, agreeing with Hazel that he deserves the torment Hazel is putting him through and then some, and yet he argues and pleads desperately with Hazel that Oscar doesn’t deserve this.

That one scene shows how much Oz hates and thinks about himself and also how much he cares about Oscar and truly doesn’t want to see him hurt or in pain.
