Me, when I'm busy and have to do something I don't like: Godamnit, I could have been writing.
Me, when I actually have the free time to write: Yeah, now is the time to do everything but that.

Okay, now that's just rude - I finally managed to bring myself to polish/edit some of my writing yesterday, even adding another sentence and a few notes for stuff later in the chapter (progress!) - and today I can barely look at my writing without wanting to vomit at what, just a couple of hours ago, my mind perceived as perfectly fine writing 😭- why is my brain being such a dick right now?!?!!

Hmh, seems like the writer of that article is struggling a little with the nuances in Austen's writing (how can you read Darcy as an "insufferable brute"?! - the man has many flaws, but "brutishness" is not among them o.O)
Although, admittedly, I read Darcy as being a little socially-awkward, too - while he's simultaneously being a bit of an arse (the two things can co-exist, yeah?). Maybe that's just me - aside from the fact that my first exposure to Darcy had been the 2005 movie adaptation, I might be projecting a little too much onto Darcy here: As an awkward introvert, who is terrible at "conversing easily with those I have never seen before" (and, admittedly, sometimes cannot be bothered to participate in small talk because it feels so meaningless to me), I've also been told that I can come across as cold and arrogant... (whoops 😅). It always felt natural to me that Darcy, with his social status and connections, doesn't really feel the need to ensure he's making a good first impression with strangers he doesn't intend to spend much time with (which is arrogant to a degree, certainly - but I'd argue that this mostly boils down to his privilege enabling him here; other people that hate small talk simply cannot afford to not give a damn because they are dependent on making good impressions and forging good connections - Darcy isn't).
Who would describe Mr Darcy as a "shy man reacting to the world honestly and earnestly"? Who???
Ah, the same person that describes him as "socially-awkward".

Hey Queenie, hope you're having a lovely weekend! 💕 As you well know, I can never let an opportunity pass to ask for some more LauraMax on another wonderful Six-Sentence-Sat(or)Sunday, soo... please? Some LauraMax for little ol' me? 👉👈🥺
As far as field trips went, he guessed this one wasn't awful: the museum smelled a lot better than the dairy farm they'd carted them off to back in grade school, the lunches they'd set aside for them in the food court had at least been vaguely sophomore-sized, and really, any day where he got to walk around staring off into the distance instead of dealing with Mr. Groff waxing poetic about the quadratic formula was a-okay by him.
"Whaddya think?"
Max jumped, pretending to clutch at his chest and stagger when he saw who'd snuck up on him like that, gasping out, "Augh, oh God, the fortune teller was right...I am going to die in front of a Van Gogh!"
Laura's smile did the thing it had been doing more and more often those days, forcing his stomach to turn cartwheels the longer it went on. "Oh please, like I'd let you just keel over - you're not getting off that easy," she groaned, yanking his hand away from his chest but not immediately letting it go, instead tucking her fingers into his and...oh.
"Hey, lookit that, how'd that happen?" he only half-joked, his stomach trading cartwheels for butterflies as Laura pulled him towards the rest of the class again, her hand laced in his, her triumphant smile bracketed by her very, very red cheeks; he slid his fingers between hers and made a quick mental correction to his earlier thought: As far as field trips went, Max couldn't think of a single one that had turned out better than this.
six sentence sat(or)sunday!!!

You know what?
I love you, fics that take months to update. I click on the newest chapter and have no memory of this place and get to go back some chapters and rediscover how much i love everything about this story.
I love you, fics that take years to update. I think of you fondly, and know your names, go search for you and see an update from this year and scream, diving in uncaring of any missed details (i will finish the update and read you in reverse because this is a treat you have bestowed)
I love you, fics that probably will never update again. Thank you for being a roman empire for my mind, thank you for teaching me about the ephemeral fandom experience, for inspiring a thousand million what if-s, for being a comfort read and a nostalgia read and a reread.
I love you fic writers, who jump into projects and stories with enthusiasm. I love you when you succeed in pumping out those chapters and that love doesn't go away when you stop.
I love you fic writers who post and then get in your own head and never feel confident enough to update, whether it's at all or whether it's just that one story.
I love you fic writers, who have a fandom or media hurt you to the point of abandoning or having a hard time with their WIPs.
I love you fic writers, who lose interest or have life changes or illness or bad memory. Thank you for being part of the fandom, a core part of the fandom. Thank you for the time spent in the fandom.
I love you, fic writers who try out something new and then stop. You're so valid.
I love you, WIP fics that may or may not ever get finished. Thank you for brightening my day in the way only you could have.
