Everyone in game! Little animals are having fun!

Pixel art for today based on videogame Dino Land for game console Sega MegaDrive. It is some unusual game. About little animals.

And this is my drawing about the same theme. Today, all little animals are having fun. Little dinosaurs, lizards, turtles. All the little animals are playing a game. Everyone plays! Little dinos starts not so good this game. And yellow animals start a game very good. Very active. And they get tired very fast. And all of them now need some free time, time to restore. And little dinosaurs are using this moment and lead the balls to the gates.

Game is next – to pull balls of your color to the gates with your color. Different teams have a different colors of the balls and gates. Green for yellow little animals. And little dinosaurs has a blue. And armadillo and turtlestype it is some another color. And by the teams all plays at the same time. They run about a big field and pull the balls. Balls with not your colors – just throw away. And your color balls – to pull into the gates of your color. There are lots of such gates. And there are lots of balls. Every minute we have a new ball! And this way little animals are playing!

I had a dream i got to explain tf2 to my friend and i remember being crazy excited because someone finally wanted me to explain tf2 to them, but then almost as soon as i started my alarm went off and i woke up. And i was so angry. And it took me until halfway through my morning shower to realise I wasnt actually explaining tf2 i was telling lies about how scout had a sun hat and it would get bigger every time he respawned so scouts with big hats were bullied relentlessly. Thats what inspired that raw anger.

One thing that keeps striking me while making this game is how often I have to go back on personal quibbles about Sherlock Holmes adaptations - I keep having moments of "...ok I can see why people do that so much."

I have always found the whole "brain attic" thing a little silly, and I find the fact that it's become an intrinsic element of the character a bit strange considering it's mostly just a bit of early-installment weirdness in Study in Scarlet.

But then as part of a game I wanted a screen where the player sorts information, and the idea of visualising the inside of Holmes' mind, and showing how it changes over time, was just far too good to pass up. So, brain attic.

Doyle implies that Watson joins up with his old regiment during WW1, but the idea of this beloved author going off to the front in his 60s never makes much sense to me and I know it is basically propaganda. My headcanon tends to be that Watson's war service would be in an unofficial capacity in England.

But I needed an instant way to signify to the player that Watson had been away, and he's had a tough time, and he needs rest and healing.

So, he shows up in an army uniform, and he has at least been to France (I imagined him in a hospital away from the Front).

Silly little thing that came up today reading His Last Bow is that Holmes in it has white hair. I love the idea of him with white hair in old age. It just didn't look good in the pixel art. So he has grey hair.

I think in adaptation you need to consider the strengths of the medium you're working with and the story you're telling rather than headcanons, but it still feels strange and frustrating sometimes.

Really can't go wrong in fantasy with a giant skeleton being part of the environment. I'm talking colossal, part of the scenery bones.

Oh yes, let me wonder what the hell it is, how it died, how long it has been there. Let me walk on its ribs pathways, climb inside an eyesocket, look at where it fused with the nature around it.
