Voyager Fandom, we need to talk.
On this blessed day, the anniversary of the most esteemed and craptastic episode that is Threshold, I must discuss a serious issue that has gone too long without discussion.
That being, of course, amphibian erasure.
Lizard babies, everyone says. Remember that time Janeway and Paris had lizard babies?
No, I do not. Because clearly they are amphibians!

yall ever think about michaels eyebrows and her hair? because i do
its so important to her growth as a human and its so evident if you know what youre looking at. she goes from having her gorgeous curly hair to getting a standard vulcan bob within probably a couple months of living on vulcan. she probably had a really hard time because of it and had either asked to get her hair changed to look like every other vulcan kid or they had it done for her so that she could fit in. either way, part of her humanity was stripped when this was done to her. she wasnt vulcan and she never would be but at least she could look just a tiny but more like them
as time goes on and as she starts to get older, she shaves her eyebrows to give them less of a curve, once more a show of her trying to fit in on a planet that doesnt want her. she tries so hard that when she arrives to the shenzou we see her with her straight vulcan haircut stylized and her eyebrows shaved looking as close as she can to a vulcan with what she has
her hair changes as she embraces herself and her humanity. she combs her bob to the side, no longer trying to conform to vulcan standards, and testing the waters to see what she likes
and then her mutiny happens. and it is SO important. she loses everything. she loses her captain, she loses her ship, shes stripped of rank and she no longer has respect. people either fear her or they hate her, and when we see her as a prisoner, she looks like shes gone through hell. because she has. she no longer maintains her hair and she lets her eyebrows grow out. shes not vulcan so why keep trying to be something shes not?
and so she begins embracing her emotions and working on figuring out who she is as a person, as a human. and her hair is so important to her journey. and we can see that so clearly as we see her turn into the amazing woman and finally become the captain we all knew she was destined to become
