In a Better LIght | Chapter Four D.M
Word Count: 1.6k
Warnings: Mentions of the war, angst, substance use
-
The sound of excited students filled your ears as you walked through the halls. Students were getting ready for the weekend as they walked to their final classes of the day. The first trip to hogsmeade was this weekend and younger students could not wait to leave campus. You and Hermoine has been walking to the library as you were on your free period, wanting to get some grading done.
“I can’t wait for this weekend. I plan on meeting Ron in Hogsmeade. I’ve missed him so much since the term started. You nodded, thinking about your plans for the weekend. “Are you planning on coming? I think Luna had mentioned wanting to go and pick up a few things from the shop.”
“Ah, no I can’t. I am a little stressed about how the students are handling the information in this week's lesson. I will stay back and grade some papers, maybe reevaluate our lessons.” Hermoine gave you a sympathetic look, you offered a smile. “I’m happy you’re seeing Ron, you’ve been non-stop talking about him since you got here.”
A pink tint flooded her cheeks. “Sorry about that, I guess I hadn’t realized I was droning on.”
“No worries, I’m only teas-“
“Shhhh,” Hermoine pulled you behind a pillar. The corridor you were walking through was mostly used by staff, there were few students walking through. You followed her gaze to see she was watching an intense fight between Parkinson and Malfoy. Pansy looks embarrassed, almost on the brink of tears but Draco looked unbothered.
“Don’t come crawling back to me when you want to ‘clear your head’” With that, Pansy stormed off down the corridor leaving nothing but the sound of her footsteps.
“Yikes, do you think that had anything to do with what happened last week?” Hermoine asked, thinking back to when you had caught them… in a questionable situation in the Astronomy Tower. “Typical”
The Saturday morning sun peeked through your window, leaving rays of sunlight on various objects around the room. You knew you had missed breakfast, deciding to catch up on a little bit of sleep before spending your day nose deep in papers. As you got ready for the day, deciding on plain black slacks, a blue jumper, and some tennies, you noticed a small envelope laying atop your stack of papers. It had your name displayed in delicate cursive, the back pressed with a blue emblem.
Y/N,
Try not to work yourself too hard. I plan on stopping by this evening with a few sweet treats. The group will miss you dearly.
All the best,
Loon
You smiled fondly at the letter. Luna had always been a close friend of yours. Many nights you spent together were filled with laughter and fun crafts she insisted on trying. Upon hearing she grew close to Neville over the summer, you were extremely happy for her, knowing someone cared as much about her as you did. Although you had been friends with the rest of the group, nothing compared to the comforting feeling Luna left in you.
You grabbed a small bag that was filled with a few snacks and a mixture Neville had given to you, you decided to wander the halls. While you would never say it allowed, you were thankful to rely on the herbs neville had given you and your friends. Some days it was hard to deal with the anxiety and flashbacks of the year prior and it gave you a chance to escape. You saw the scenes so vividly every time you closed your eyes.
Students and staff lay on makeshift cots as you and a handful of other students help Madame Pomfrey heal those who can be helped. You saw so much bloodshed shed around you, it became overwhelming as more people were brought in. You had spent countless hours handing out potions and ointments, using whatever spells you knew that could reverse the damage.
“Save only those you know you can heal. Leave the rest.” Someone had said, sadness laced in every every word.
You shivered, taking a long drag from the mixtures. Hogwarts has since began healing, the staff had been doing a great job with repairing the building and restoring things within the castle. Soon enough, your brain began to clear up, leaving you to enjoy the view of the lake before you. It was quite beautiful how the sun hit the dark lake, somehow causing a glimmer in the tides. You’d remember how Luna convinced you to go swimming one night in fifth year, there was a cool breeze and the leaves had begun to fall off the leaves. You both ended up getting sick later that week.
The sound of footsteps pulled you out of your trance. A head of platinum blonde hair made its way up the steps, muttering to themself. Once you locked eyes, Malfoy jumped back a little. “Sorry, I didn't know anyone was up here.”
“Noooo, no.” You could hear your words come out slightly slurred, causing you to sober up a little. “You can stay, I don’t mind.”
“Okay.” He shrugged, taking a seat next to you. You stared at him for a few moments, taking in his appearance. He was wearing his old quidditch jumper and, to your surprise, a pair of comfy jeans. His hair wasn’t styled back as it usually was but messy along his forehead. If it was anyone else, you’d admit that he looked good. “Are you okay?”
You shook your head of any thoughts on how he looked. “I am a bit wonky, to be honest. Neville gave me some weed, so I’ve been smoking.”
“Weed?” Malfoy looked perplexed, the wizarding world had so many potions and spells they hadn’t any need for muggle substances.
“Yeah, it’s a muggle thing. Try some.” You passed the delicate stick to Draco, briefly touching his cold skin. The sensations left you tingly, or perhaps that was the drug. “You smoke it like a cigarette.”
He nodded, taking a small drag.”It’s kind of flowery.”
“That’s Luna, she mixes lavender in with it for calming affects.” You smiled fondly. You watched as he took another drag, this time his body visibly unclenched.
“It feels nice.” He tried handing it back, instead you placed your lips on the filter taking another drag before rustling through your bag. Draco looked slightly shocked, but quickly laughed it off.
“I have some snacks in my bag if you get hungry.” You opened a few candy boxes and a bag of chips. You two sat in silence for a moment, looking off at the scenery around you. After awhile, you feel comfortable in his presence and decide to strike up a conversation. “So, how are your classes going? Are the student adjusting well?
“Oh, uh, yeah classes are going pretty good.” He popped a Birdie Bott’s into his mouth grimacing at the flavor. “Sometimes it’s hard to teach knowing you had just learned the material yourself.”
“I get that. ‘Moline and I have been having some difficulties getting students to connect to your content.” You grabbed a handful of chips, shoving them in your mouth, “It’s hard to explain the importance of Muggle studies, even after everything that’s happened.”
“Right.” Draco went quiet at the mention of the war. You hadn’t meant to upset him and instantly felt bad for how it came out. Truthfully, you felt bad for Draco as he and his family had gone through a lot over the summer. It wasn’t spoken a lot by your peers, but after the war the punishments came down hard and you couldn’t help but wonder if the Ministry understood that kids like Draco hardly knew any better.
“Can I ask you something? No judgment.” You crossed your heart, hoping he would understand the gesture. He nodded. “How are you? I mean really, how are you?”
He paused for a second, as if he was thinking of what to say next. “It has been really hard. I am grateful that Headmistress Mcgonagall has given me this opportunity to try and make amends with the school.”
“How is your mother?” There was a pause, a lonely tear sliding down Draco’s cheek. You quickly moved to wipe it away, not meaning to upset him as much. “You don’t have to-“
“It was really lonely in the Manor when father…left.” He took a drag, turning to look at you. For the first time, you felt like you were seeing Draco Malfoy. Not just the facade he presented himself to be. “She has been doing better, though. The Ministry has allowed her to run a charity for the families who have been affected by the war, so that takes up most of her time.”
“I’m happy for her. I often worried for you and your mother, as I know not everything is what it seems.” You reached out for the remainder of the joint, taking one long drag before using a spell to burn it out so you could place it in a tin. When you were done cleaning up a bit, you looked up catching Draco’s stare.
“That’s really refreshing to hear.” He adjusted his legs so they were now in front of him, his feet landing on either side of yours. “I hear what the students say in the halls. It’s very tiring. I can’t say anything because, in a way, they are right.”
Often, you have heard students say crude things about Malfoy. Calling him names such as snake and monster. You could see his eyes cloud with sorrow, “I don’t think they are right. They weren’t there, they don’t know the whole story.”
“Yeah.” Although he agreed with you, you could still see the harsh words his inner self was saying. You decided to give him some space and began clearing up the snacks. Just as you went to grab a box of jellybeans, a hand stopped you. “Would it be okay if I took these?”
“Of course.” You smiled, your eyes met and he offered you a genuine smile.

In A Better Light | Chapter Three D.M.
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: None, I think
-
Monday morning meant a fresh new week. You were looking forward to spending sometime with Hermoine to collect your thoughts and organize lesson plans. A royal blue blouse and a pair of slacks waited for you on your desk, alongside it your morning routine. You quickly headed off for a quick shower before catching up with the group for breakfast. Although you had planned on having a relaxing weekend, you ended up spending most of it constructing lectures and looking over some of the assignments your students handed in. You were confident that this week would go over smoothly as you have lightened the course work for you struggling students. The night you caught Malfoy at the Astronomy tower was pushed to the back of your mind as you felt it was none of your business.
Hermoine was waiting outside your door, gloomy look on her face. She was wearing a similar outfit to yours, but kept her school robes over it. The group arrived late last night and Luna had told you all about her double date with Hermoine and Ron.
“How was your weekend, Moine?” You asked locking your dorm and heading towards breakfast. Hermoine let out a sigh.
“Seeing Ron made me realize how much I miss him. It’s hard getting used to everything and having him here would make it easier to deal with.” She shook her head a bit. “I sound needy but Ron was there for me after everything that had happened.”
“I understand.” You walked in comfortable silence the rest of the way to the hall. You had wondered if Malfoy would show his face, he’s rarely seen and you wonder if he’s having a hard time etting accustomed with the other professors. You ponder if you should tell Hermoine what you had seen, deciding to get it off of your chest so you could perhaps get over it. “Can I tell you something? But it HAS to stay between us.”
“Sure…”
“I saw Malfoy.” Hermoine gave you a confused looked, so you continued. “Friday night I was heading up to the Astronomy Tower to clear my head. When I got up there… I saw Malofy and Pansy Parkinson rather close.”
“Pansy is back in school? I haven’t seen her in any of the classes.” Hermoine took a moment to process what you had just said. “Close how?”
“I think I had interrupted something intimate.” You blushed, looking away from Hermoine to not send the wrong idea.
“I had heard that they had on and off flings, but to be so careless?” Her face suddenly stern, “He is a professor now what if it had been a student who saw instead?”
“Yeah.” And with that you arrived to breakfast, going your separate ways.
The Hall was lively as students and teachers talked amongst themselves. You hadn’t felt hungry but knew you needed to eat something so you opted for fruit and toast with jam. Neville slid into his place next to you, smiling when he had seen you already there. He quickly filled his plate befor turning to you to talk.
“Did the mix work?” You gave him a confused look. “The herbs from the greenhouse?”
“Oh, I didn’t have time to try them yet. Sorry, Neville.” You looked down at your food, feeling a little disappointed that you weren’t able to have much needed you time but quickly shook it off. You had caught up on work and that was better for you and your students.
“Thats alright. Luna was curious because she had thought of the new mixture. She’s brilliant in the greenhouse. You know…” Neville was slowly drowned out as you saw platinum blonde hair enter the hall. Malfoy was dressed in a slick black suit, his tiny snake pin on the lapel, and a green cloth tucked in the pocket. You watched as he quietly walked up the the table, avoiding eye contact with the group of professors staring at him from the Gryffindor table. “Y/N?”
You snapped out of your gaze and looked back to Neville. “Sorry, what did you say?”
“I was just saying Luna and I missed you in Hogsmeade. We found a plant shop and thought maybe this weekend we could all go, what do you say?”
“Aw, I would love that Neville. Thank you.” You tried not to notice the presence beside you, hoping he wouldn’t try to engage in conversation.
“I have to run, I have to prep a few things for my class.” Neville collected a few things in a bag he had brought, double checking he had everything. “Uh, Luna and I will be working on something in the greenhouse at lunch so i won’t be here. You’re welcome to join us but it won’t be very fun.”
“Thank you for the offer..” With that he nodded, leaving you in silence. You picked at the fruit on your plate, trying to decide if it was appropriate to say something. You looked to Malfoy from the corner of your eye, taking in his features. His hair was styled out of his face, his jaw was tense and there seemed to be slight bags under his eyes. On his plate he too had some fruit, breakfast potatoes, and a singular sausage. You collected yourself, hoping it wasn’t obvious you were staring, and decided to head to your class early.
-
Classes went by smoothly as students began understanding the content more. You had reduced the assignments for the week, both to help the students and you. Grading work was always a tiring job, especially when some topics required multiple assignments in order to make sure there is an understanding of the lesson. Letting out a sigh, you grabbed your things and headed off to the great hall. The sounds of student gossip and footsteps filled the corridors. A few students greeted you on your walk, causing you to hold a small grin on your face.
Luna had decided to help Neville set up for one of his classes, leaving you to sit at lunch alone. Maybe you could use this time to clear your thoughts. As you approached the head table, you noticed a head of platinum blonde hair sitting next to your seat. It was pleasant to see him show up to meals more frequently, you wondered how he was getting his meals.
You move to sit down in her seat, hanging your bag on the back of your chair. Lunch looked delicious as steaming plates of food spread out along the table. Grabbing a few vegetables and one of the readymade sandwiches you began your lunch break. You couldn’t help but sneak a glance toward Malfoy, who appeared to be pushing his food around his plate absentmindedly.
The second half of your day would be filled with the older students' classes, meaning heavier topics and a less engaged classroom. Although your older students understood the content much better than their younger peers, you had a hard time getting them to ask questions or engage in conversation. Hermoine had suggested having conversation circles once a week to review the course as well as help students speak their mind.
A soft cough pulled you out of your thoughts, you turned your head slightly to face where it came from. Draco was already looking at you, a nervous expression on his face. “Professor Y/N?”
“You don’t have to be so formal, Malfoy.” You teased, holding in a laugh.
“Oh, sorry.” He shifted in his seat, eyeing the crowd of students before turning to face you again. “I just wanted to apologize for my behavior. It was unprofessional of me to engage in such actions on school grounds.”
“It’s quite alright.” You offered him a small smile, in return his features softened. “I won’t tell anyone.”
“Thank you.”
After classes you made your way to the library, hoping to catch up on some grading and studying lesson plans. The library was rather full with students, so you walked upstairs to the section dedicated only for Prefects and Professors. Slowly, the whispered chatter of students faded away, while books became thicker and thicker. There were leather couches with coffee tables and study desks with comfortable chairs littered between bookshelves. This area felt more sophisticated as students were not allowed to filter in and out. As you walked past a section, you noticed a familiar face sat relaxed on a couch and papers spread out in front of them on the coffee table.
“Mind if I join you?” You spoke softly, placing your bag on the other side of the couch. Draco snapped his head up, a confused look on his face.
“Uh, yeah. Sure, go ahead.” He began clearing off space for you to set your things down.
There were a few moments of silence between you both as you took out the stack of assignments out to grade. Draco continued to look through essay after essay. Although there was no one around, you felt as though there were a million eyes on you and you over thought every move you made. Why do I feel this way?
“Do you happen to have another quill?” Draco’s voice drew you out of your thoughts.
“Oh. Yeah of course.” You reached your hand into your bag beside you, fishing out the set of quills you kept. Briefly, your hands touched as you handed him the spare quill. His fingers were ice cold, sending a light shiver down your spine. Get it together. “I always over use my quills until the tips break.”
He rolled his eyes, “Of course you do.”
“What does that mean?”
“You were a Ravenclaw, right?” You blushed slightly, wondering how he could have possibly known that. “Ravenclaw’s are known for their late night study sessions. It doesn’t surprise me that you’d write and write until your quil breaks.”
“And Slytherin don’t?” You quipped back.
“Merlin, no. We like to keep things in pristine condition.” He turned back to his paperwork, which looks like it has barely been touched. His lesson plans were scribbled on a piece of parchment alongside a rubric for the essays.
“Do you need help grading?” You offered, pointing to the stack next to him. He looked shocked for a moment, pink tinting his pale cheeks. He looked as if he were debating your offer in his head, most likely too proud to ask for help.
“Actually,” He bit his lip looking at the stack next to him. “Do you mind? I haven’t received an assistant, yet, and it’s a bit overwhelming.”
With that, you spent the next couple of hours helping him grade.

The thing I love about hp is the setting feels so cozy. Even when they are fighting for their lives against voldy-snort the castle is beautiful and McGonagall swearing to keep the kids safe is so sweet.

Hiiiiii, long time no see. The next chapter of my Draco fic will be out soon, hopefully. I do have the chapters planned out but sometimes I get writers block on making it all come together. On top of this fic, I have also come up with another fic so i’ll go into more details on those. Thank you to everyone who still follows along and likes my posts. 💘💘💘💘
One fic idea I have is another Draco x Ravenclaw reader fic where Reader is dating Theo Nott but like things don’t go well so Draco swoops in. I don’t want to give too much away but it will be another long series.
The other fic I was thinking of writing is a much shorter series, probably 8-10 parts max. It’s just about a reader who has a group of friends and parties a lot. It’s draco x reader as well but I want it to be light hearted and fun.
All of my ideas are ravenclaw!reader based because I am a ravenclaw so i am biased to write characters similar to me. BUT i am willing to take in requests of blurbs with other houses and such. Anyways yeah that’s my update thank you for sticking around. 💘💘💘

Chapter Two: In a Better Light
A/N: Okay, here is Chapter Two. I do reread and revise but please feel free to let me know if you see any mistakes or anything. I appreciate everyone who had read my story thus far, I didn't think I would get readers so early on so that's really cool.
Warnings: Talk of substance use, anxiety, nightmares
Word Count: 2260
Classes had started and you and Hermione have been gathering student intellect on subjects that would interest them and then dividing the work over the time schedule you had made. The first and second years will be learning the basics like where muggle civilization started and how it progressed. It had been a rather lengthy subject, so you decided to tackle it through the progression of agricultural, technological, and architectural advancements. This way, they were able to understand the basics as well as technology and tools that the wizarding world may not have. The third years were to study government systems and various cultures around the world, giving them room to inquire about specific places or terms they were unfamiliar with. Fourth years and Fifth years were going to study muggle art forms such as literature, films, and fine arts. You and Hermoine had decided this would allow students to connect important literature between both worlds, and compare and contrast themes within various works. Lastly, the Sixth and Seventh years would be taught heavier subjects such as major wars and the importance of specific periods throughout the years. You had gone back and forth on whether it was too soon to be teaching heavy topics, but when you had discussed things with Headmistress McGonagall, she had said it would be great to compare Muggle and Wizard wars as there have been similar instances in which both parties fought with each other.
So far, students have shown great interest in each of your classes, asking many intellectual questions and connecting ideas from the Wizarding world to the lives of Muggles. It filled you with joy knowing students were open-minded to the lives of muggles, it made you even happier that the students who had one or both parents living in the muggle world were so willing to help their peers understand things. More than once, you have had a student come up to you or Hermoine asking to cover a topic or idea that you hadn’t thought of covering. You were going above and beyond the expectations of the administration and the Ministry, which gave you a sense of validation as the Professors before you had never truly represented Muggles the right way. Although you agreed there were wonderful things in the Wizarding World, and nothing could pull you away from it, there were great things in the Muggle world, too.
“I just can’t believe how interested the students are.” Hermoine beamed. Now, you were in the Library discussing the past few days and which assignments you’d like to hand out over the weekend.
“I think after everything that had happened,” You kept your voice low so as not to disturb the students around you. “The interest in the muggle world has increased. I mean, there was a big fight over blood status and the acceptance of muggles within the wizarding world, right? This had to have started some conversation at home, especially amongst half-blood and muggle-born students.”
Hermoine nodded, “I agree. In a way, the war did bring a lot of positives to the Wizarding World. I just wish it hadn’t happened so…”
“Intensely.” You finished. Looking around, you noticed most of the students had cleared out of the library so you and Hermoine were the only ones in your section. “‘Mione I think it’s time for us to call it a night, curfew is almost up.”
“The curfew isn’t for us, Y/N.” Hermoine giggled.
Later that night you had tossed and turned in your bed, waiting for sleep to overtake you. Images of what you had witnessed during the war danced behind your eyes. Students and staff lay motionless on makeshift cots, more coming through the doors severely injured. You and a handful of other students who were keen on healing spells were running around trying to get to as many students as you could. Despite your efforts, some couldn’t be saved and this left you feeling useless in power. Ever since the war, you had a spell of nightmares that caused you to avoid sleep most nights. Your mother would lie on the floor in your room, in hopes that her presence would be enough to make you feel safe. When that wasn’t enough, she encouraged you to reach out to your friends to talk about your experiences. It had taken you a very long time to reach out, thinking you didn’t want to bother your friends as they had seen much worse. Eventually, Luna sent out letters inviting everyone to her home in hopes they could lean on each other for help through these trying times. It worked, and you were able to lean on each other and find out tricks to help with any memories that lingered. Neville had found a mixture of different herbs that could relax the body and mind that he would offer to his friends if they really needed it. Thinking back, your friends were a great support system and you were grateful to have them in your life. You had wondered if other students had found ways to cope or if they had just given up on the idea of trying.
The next afternoon you found yourself seated at the professor's table, next to Neville, giggling about some of the encounters students have had in his class. He went on to tell a story of a student who fainted, similar to how he had his first day of Herbology.
“I don't know if it was the earmuffs or the scream of the Mandrake, but he hit the floor hard.” He chuckled, taking a bite of the food on his plate.
“Now, now Professor Longbottom, you had been in a similar situation your first year. The look on Professor Sprout's face was pure amusement, she wasn’t surprised one bit.” You laughed. You looked over to the seat next to you, making note that Malfoy had yet to show his face. “Neville, have you seen Malfoy around? I haven’t seen him once since we arrived, I hope he isn’t in hiding.”
“I have seen him walking in the halls, but never for very long. I think he spends his off time speaking with the Headmistress or tutoring his students.”
“I see. Well, I am off to my last few classes of the day. Could you let Luna know not to wait up for me? I might be running late for dinner.” You smiled at the blush growing on his face. Luna and Neville have gotten very close this past year and although they haven't said they were together, you knew there was a blooming romance. They had taken a holiday together by the sea and as soon as Luna got home she spilled all the details in a letter. Neville was a sweet boy who took very good care of her, you could feel her beaming through the words.
After classes, you found yourself at the Library again passing time until Dinner. Your grading went by quickly, giving you some spare time to read from the novel you had started. As you sat down at a table in a secluded section, between the bookshelves you spotted a head of platinum blonde hair. Craning your neck, you got a better look at him. Malfoy was hunched over multiple small stacks of papers, taking notes on a small parchment paper. He was dressed in a black turtleneck with a matching blazer, and from a distance, you could see a tiny Slytherin pin on the pocket. Over the years you had heard only gossip about the young man, mostly girls talking about how distant he was and how unattached he seemed to be when he was with someone. Of course, you had also heard the things Harry and his friends had said about him but you felt their opinion was biased. From what you could see, Malfoy had started closing himself off throughout the years and you’re sure it was because of what had been happening at home. You almost wanted to get up to check in on him but decided it wasn’t your place, you were practically strangers.
Friday came rather quickly, you found yourself wrapping up the last class with Hermoine. You had caught up with most of your work, but found yourself burnt out by the end of the week. The group had made plans to meet with Ron in Hogsmeade, which you opted out of. You decided to take this weekend to restart yourself for the week, desperately needing time to rejuvenate. Although the students were exceeding your expectations in class, that didn’t mean everything flowed smoothly. The assignment you introduced on Thursday to the third-years had left them perplexed, as they were struggling to differentiate certain laws and policies. You had spent today's class going over the topics and creating examples of what you expected them to do in the assignment, but it still felt as though they were struggling a bit. You and Hermione had decided that if the assignments handed in on Monday were averaging low marks, you’d scrap the grade and come back to it later. The mixture of classes and lack of sleep was enough for you to decide on taking a much-needed visit to the Astronomy Tower tonight.  You began packing your bag, collecting some paperwork and pens scattered throughout your desk.
“Are you sure you don’t want to join us? I will miss your company.” Hermione sighed, grabbing her bag and approaching you. As much as you missed Ron, you knew there would be a better chance to see him, a chance where you weren’t exhausted.
“Thank you for the offer, but I really need some me time. I haven’t been sleeping well from missing home and such so I would just be a bore.” You gave a weak smile and began walking to the door, Hermione by your side as usual.
“I understand.” She smiled, a knowing look in her eyes. “If you ever need to talk to someone about… missing home, please let me know.”
You nodded, gave Hermione a quick hug goodbye, and parted ways. You were going to take a much-needed nap and then grab a snack before heading to the Astronomy Tower. You were hoping it was clear enough to see the stars tonight, but if not you would be satisfied with a view of the Lake instead
-
You decided to stop off in the Kitchen to grab a quick snack before heading off to the tower, knowing you had missed dinner when you decided to take your nap. The kitchen was bustling with house elves, all happy to see you. You and Hermione spent many early mornings with the kitchen staff, helping them prepare breakfast or bringing fresh produce from the greenhouse. You had great respect for the elves and appreciated how well Hogwarts has treated them compared to others. Some elves were under stricter orders from their masters, but the elves at Hogwarts were given breaks and were able to venture out of the castle on holidays or weekends to visit any friends or family. You had grown to favor a few elves who would always prepare sweets or pastries for you when you visited.
“Good evening, Miss Y/N. Looking for something specific?” One of the elves greeted you, jumping down from their workspace to tend to you.
“I was hoping you would have leftover chips or something from dinner. I had accidentally slept through dinner hours.” The elf nodded quickly, moving to a nearby ice box to fetch a takeaway box.
“Here you go, Miss. We’ve been told to store individual meals for Professors who may have worked late.” He handed you the box. In exchange, you gave him a few coins in return. You had thought back to all of the meals Malfoy had missed over the past week, wondering if he had visited the kitchen or not. You shook your head at this thought, Malfoy probably hired an elf to cook in the common's kitchenette or has someone deliver his meals.
“Thank you.” With that, you headed up to the Astronomy Tower. You had gone to the tower a few times to clear your head, never finding anyone there because of what had happened the previous year. You had brought with you a bag to keep your items in as well as a book to read, excited to feel the autumn breeze blow through you.
The door to the tower was left slightly open, but you thought nothing of it and quickly made your way up the stairs eager to eat your dinner. As you approached the top, muffled voices could be heard and you slowed your pace. Peeking over the ledge, you spotted Pansy Parkinson and Malfoy snogging their shirts slightly unbuttoned and in a questionable position. You covered your mouth with your hand in hope of muffling your breathing and moved to exit the tower. As you stepped down, the stair you stepped on let out a loud creak. Of course.
“Who’s there?” Pansy shouted. You hesitated a little before revealing yourself, a slight blush on your cheeks from seeing them so… intimate. “Y/L/N?”
“Uh, yeah. I’m sorry I didn’t know you were here. I was just loo-” Pansy quickly cut you off, pushing herself off of Malfoy.
“I really don’t need an explanation, you can just go.” You looked over to the platinum-blonde boy, noticing how he hid behind Pansy out of embarrassment. You nodded slowly before heading back down, your plans of relaxation quickly slipping away.

The Hogwarts Houses' Winter Aesthetics
Gryffindor: running outside to see the first snow, walking in the wind, snowball fights, cheeky gifts, warm berry pie, the crackle of a fire, dark nights and twinkling lights
Slytherin: making snow angels, celebrating the solstice, dying your hair dark, peppermint tea, brand new boots, freshly cut evergreens, catching snowflakes on your tongue
Hufflepuff: warming up with a cup of tea, long scarves and thick beanies, foggy glasses, hand-made gifts, baking shows, the smell of cinnamon, playing holiday music in the kitchen
Ravenclaw: decorating snowmen, watching holiday movies, homemade wreaths, flannel pj's, waking up with the sun, the crunching of snow beneath your feet, finding the perfect gift
