Sudan still desperately needs aid--it needs a lot of things, but it is approaching a dangerous point with famine and mass death due to hunger imminent.
These are the kinds of headlines we're getting now:
Tumblr media
Here's an ongoing fundraiser:
I linked it before, to help with Ramadan, but it's an ongoing initiative, the need has not stopped.
I picked this gofundme because it's been boosted by people I trust and you can see pictures online of the food they've provided, e.g.:
Tumblr media
But I also picked this because you can see the amount of donations. It's 2pm ET on Saturday, April 20th right now? For the next week, whatever's donated, I'll match for a total up to $2,000 (we'll say 2,750 CAD, since the gofundme is in Canadian dollars).
You don't have to send me a receipt, I just ask that you donate and boost.

Fundraiser masterpost
Latest update: 21/04/2024.
This is a masterpost for the evacuation fundraisers I've vetted so far, a few other fundraisers I find trustworthy but have not been able to vet (inability to communicate with the organizer), and a few semi-completed fundraisers or fundraisers for a different purpose (like house rebuilding, or aid distribution). The numbers next to the names have no significance beyond ease of navigation for me for when I check their progress in the future. You should look at the disclaimers instead and focus on those. Occasionally I will update these with new info, including new fundraisers, and the amount of cash that's been raised. Check in regularly on the original post when you see it being reblogged. In all likelihood once its reached you it's already outdated. Also please don't overlook the Sustainable Aid options near the bottom! The brain drain is already creating problems but having another way of keeping or creating new knowledge and key members of a functioning society is important.

I was at a courthouse once, and saw an indigenous australian woman in a dressing gown very carefully and gingerly making her way down the steps outside the courthouse, surrounded by family who were helping her down the stairs. We asked if she was OK, because she looked awful. She looked like she should have been wrapped up in bed with blankets and hot soup, not on the steps of a courthouse.
One of her family told us that she had given birth yesterday evening, but that Child Protection services had taken her baby away with no warning, claiming that she wasnt prepared to look after him. What had happened, is that she'd literally only just given birth -- hadn't even passed the afterbirth yet, is holding her blood-coated, crying, newborn baby to her chest -- and a nurse asked what her feeding plan was. She was tired from the birth and distracted by the brand new baby in her arms and thrown off by the timing of the question, but still, she managed to answer, and said she planned to breastfeed him whenever he was hungry.
Well apparently that wasn't enough of a plan for the hospital staff, who reported her and claimed that she was unprepared to look after the child, and claimed that had no social supports, and that the baby was at risk if left with her. All because a brand new mother, 30 seconds after giving birth, didn't have a PowerPoint presentation ready to go that cited the timing cycle she would feed her kid on, and instead simply said that she would feed him when he was hungry.
Child Protection services showed up, took her kid, and she was told to show up to court the next day to contest custody if she wanted her baby back.
So a woman who had given birth less than 24 hours prior was forced to rally her family and show up to court to prove that she a) had a feeding plan for the child, and b) had enough social supports to justify reclaiming her baby.
It was one of the most appalling things I'd ever seen. I don't even know if she won her case. They didn't know at the time we saw them, and after that brief interaction on the stairs, i never saw them again. I sincerely hope she got her newborn baby back.
That was about 5 years ago. And the exact same kind of thing is still happening today.
News broke today from a South Australian whistle-blower of the appalling treatment new mothers frequently receive, including hospital staff taking the baby away from the mother "for medical tests," only for the mother to then be told, with absolutely no prior warning, that the baby was not going to be returned to her.
Here's the article, and here are some excerpts:

And for those who know what this is mostly about -- I'm not saying they are above critique in how they delivered this decision nor am I saying that you're a terrible person or whatever if you don't follow them to the new platform. Times are tough, I get it. This is not and will not be a priority for a good chunk of people. In fact, I am not a fan of how they went about this and there are several changes I would like to see them make.
but what i am saying is if you are reluctant to abide any changes that inconvenience you how is anything ever going to change for anybody in any regard.
I personally believe that all labor deserves to be fairly compensated and all laborers deserve fair work. Regardless of your opinion of them, they are workers and not only are they workers, they are themselves the product. And just because you do not see all the labor (whether it's pre-production, on-site, or post) that goes into making content doesn't make the labor any less valid.
sorry for the ramble i'm about to go on but i just need to get this out of my system.
YouTube is a monopoly. It has dominated the video platform services for nearly twenty years. There is not a single competitor that could generally be considered its rival. It is ubiquitous to the internet.
Which allows it to have all the power when it comes to the way it chooses to run its site. It can do whatever it pleases because there is no alternative. Whatever policies, practices, and demands it wants to make it can get. Easily. With little affective resistance. We know this. We've seen it.
The way its algorithm pushes far-right ultra-conservative content
The ease in which they can demonetize videos and channels at a whim, with a shocking lack of consistency or equity
How it siphons profits away from creators with the average ad revenue per view being .018 cents per ad view (and this only if the video and channel are approved for ad sense revenue with several other stipulations in order for it to "count"). Youtube also takes thirty percent of channel membership revenue.
How it puts pressure on creators to cheapen their products in order to try and gain profit from it (faster and shorter and frequent and click-baity and trendy and shallow and "family friendly" and always focused on The Next Big Thing)
It is a multibillion-dollar company that doesn't about the creators, and their content, that they exploit. They subsidize your entertainment by shorting the very people you claim to enjoy/respect/admire.
And that isn't going to change. We can't expect the government to step in and break up a monopoly because, frankly, they more than likely benefit from it (hello lobbyists) and even if they wanted to (which they don't) it's not like Youtube bought up its competitors. It made sure there was no room for competition to even begin.
So the only solution there is (as far as I can tell) is for creators to divest from the platform. Because at the end of the day, the only language that Youtube speaks is money. And when they start to see significant consequences to their bottom line, that is when they will be willing to come to the table and for the first time, the bargaining power will be with creators.
That can't happen, however, if people ride Youtube's dick every time a creator(s) or channel attempts to break from the platform.

I am honestly not understanding the amount of anger/negativity/hate that Watcher is getting for this decision.
Like, it’s not just three dudes making content —it’s a whole fucking company. They’re employing at least a couple dozen employees who all need things like fair compensation, heath insurance, retirement, etc and that costs money. That’s not even including expenses related to creating the content that they produce (travel, permits, equipment, staging, guest expenses). And to try to finance all of that while relying on ad revenue and sponsorships on a platform notorious for demonetizing creators en mass is a humongous task that many have failed to do. Even larger channels/companies struggle with this. And it also relies on an audience and general culture that refuses to suffer through either of those things by using things like ad-blockers and nitpicking sponsored content.
(That’s not to say I don’t understand it when people do, I do the same thing. But I’m not going to be a hypocrite and pretend that those decisions don’t have consequences for creators that I enjoy)
They tried to have a middle ground solution by having the Patreon content, but clearly that wasn’t enough and I don’t blame them for having made this decision.
Yes, it is disappointing that new content is going to be behind a paywall. Yes, the delivery of this news was a little off putting. Yes, this is a time where many people may not have it in their budget to pay for an additional expense.
But entertainment is a luxury. And so is expecting content creators to put their material on the internet for free (or at the very least pennies on the goddamn dollar).
Steven, Ryan, and Shane have to balance giving us, the audience, what we want and making sure they profit enough to support the people who have staked their careers and livelihoods on Watcher. And if this move means that they will be able to support their company and hopefully expand their catalog, then I’m all for it.

It's Rita. We're done here for now
I'm sure everyone's heard by now that something's happened at least so I'll try keep it short [lie]. This post is a rough explanation and not a defense, if mutuals want to add evidence of what I claim then please do so, I will have a note to friends at the end, feel free to skip to that 🧡🤎
I got terminated on predstrogen due to mass false reports about sexually explicit content, I had evidence of these mass false reports, and when I asked support for help they stated "As you know, you posted sexually explicit content and additionally harrassed people"
My issue isn't with the account termination, it's the double standard around it
I've had multiple accounts. The first (madhopz) was terminated for content on sideblogs when I was doing sex work and I know I won't get it back. The second (sadhopz) was targetted by lolcow forums, and took half a year to get back, only once I humiliated myself to support by screenshotting and documenting what they were saying about me and sharing images of me. The third (predstrogen) I mentioned and I'll get back to, but I was never emailed to explain why the fourth (Avewy/Predesterone) was terminated. All we know is that it was right after the CEO got upset with me, I broke no rules and said no one should attack anyone, I posted no explicit content, none.
A man twice my age and worth $400,000,000 threatened to call the cops on a trans woman online, and then deleted me when I mentioned this
To add insult to injury, he refused to call me "she" the entire time, referring to me as "they" and backpedalling to vaguely refer to me as The Account. I'm a fucking person, and you know that by threatening to pin the cops on me. Eventually even slipping and calling me "it" before respecting the womanhood of the person he would gladly talk about and "make an exception for"
My complaint to his post was that he says I was banned for harrassment, which is a lie. I was banned for mass false reports of sexual content, despite having been told by staff directly a month prior that my blog does not break that rule, and have had people admit to collaborating on reports. But my biggest issue is that even if I was banned for harrassment, then what did they do about my own harrassment?
They did fuck all and told me my stalkers should not be removed from Tumblr
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After banning me without a reason, I immediately got an email back about harrassment and stalking that I sent a support ticket about in December. They banned me twice before looking into this, and their conclusion was "we won't do a thing". These are people who have been on my ass all of last fucking year calling me a rapist and a pedophile, and they ignored it. Does that sound like a man who cares about harrassment on his site, or only when it happens to him?
After the ban on Predstrogen and I moved to Avewy, they were everywhere. Inbox messages claiming I was sending asks to children threatening to rape them, anonymous people stating they're our victim and are scared to speak out about what I did to them. It all only happened now. They've turned a blind eye and given these people a win. I saved it all in an #archive tag as proof if I was ever asked or got through to support, but that didn't happen when i was terminated without warning or reason
When Matt deleted me himself, he deleted everything I posted and saved as evidence for my situation. Anonymous asks slandering me, reblogs of people organising to get rid of me, my own documentation of what staff did, all of it was deleted with @avewy/@predesterone.
I don't want to be on this site anymore, I was happy all day today because I feel free without it. But I miss my accounts, because of all the memories with them. I don't want to use them, but I want @madhopz, @predstrogen, and @predesterone back so that all the times ive had with friends, lovers and strangers arent completely eradicated. Every single thing uploaded to Predstrogen is gone and marked mature now, even my face and identity, because this was a sexual content ban and not harrassment as they say. They found another reason after the fact
Give me my identity and my memories back
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To all my friends and mutuals, thank you. Even people I've had falling-outs with have been nothing but kind and I want everyone to know I appreciate it. I saw every ask before deletion, I see how many people are on Discord. I can't keep up, but knowing you reached out at all means the world to me
I was happier today off this site than I have been in months. I'm not driving myself to breakdowns anymore by being on here, my mental and emotional state has been in ruins. Maybe I'll come back on this account, but for now I'm leaving it blank and still and moving on.
This post is incredibly meandering and too long, but I'm not trying to defend myself or document everything, I'm trying to make sure I say something to people I care for instead of disappearing, you deserve it. I'm doing well, please find me elsewhere.
My Twitter is mAD_h0PZ
My Cohost is Predstrogen
My BlueSky is predstrogen.bsky.social
My discord is Avewy, and my server is Public
My steam is mAD_hOPZ
Goodnight, thank you 🧡🤎

today marks day 111 of the genocide in gaza.
and i need you all to keep in mind just how dire the situation in gaza is right now. and to keep talking about it. now is not the time to turn away.
today i want to talk about khalil again. yesterday, khalil posted about how his aunt passed away and they went to the graveyard to bury her, only to find thousands of tents in the cemetery. the people living as refugees in rafah have been so jam packed that they’ve started sheltering at the cemetery.
Tumblr media
in a heartbreaking sentence, khalil says “they are living in the cemetery, waiting for their time to be buried”. can you imagine the situation one has to be in to say something like that?
not only do the gazans not have a safe place to live, they are also starving and suffering from diseases and lack of medication. in fact, that’s the cause of khalil’s aunt’s death—bad food and no medicine.
the people of gaza barely have food to eat. the children have to clean dirt and insects off animal feed before milling it to make food. medicine isn’t coming into the gaza strip. there are pharmacies all around but none can help because they do not have the means to. why?
because israel consistently denies shipments of vital aid. in fact, according to the UN, israel recently added insulin pens for children to the list of prohibited items that are not allowed into gaza. this list also includes other medicines for chronic illnesses are also not allowed [here is the full press conference for anyone who’s interested].
this claim is also backed by the report journalist motaz azaiza was making as he was evacuating gaza of a plethora of aid trucks waiting at the border to enter gaza. and for the little bit of aid that is available to gazans? yesterday the israeli military opened fire at starving citizens who were queueing to get aid in northern gaza.
there are too many heartbreaking stories coming out of gaza; there is at least one per person, in a population of 2.2M people. i urge you to not turn away from hearing their stories and facing the reality of the crimes being committed against them by israeli occupation forces.
whatever anyone else might say, whatever the verdict of tomorrow’s hearing may be… i want you to remember that what’s happening in gaza is nothing short of a genocide—a collective total of 33,360 deaths, and 64,150 injured. don’t let them just be numbers. these are people.
people who are not just being killed in cold blood, but are also being starved. they are being tortured physically and psychologically. they are being subjected to illnesses with no treatment given. they are being subjected to eating things like grass, immature food, expired food. read the euro med monitor report for the full picture of the destruction happening in gaza at the hands of the israeli occupation forces.
this is a genocide. this is one of, if not the deadliest of war crimes we’ve seen in the 21st century.
i am so heartbroken i barely have the energy to type today. please call for an end to all of this, for a permanent ceasefire. and subsequently an end to the israeli occupation.
we cannot leave the palestinians to fend for themselves and continue being oppressed directly or indirectly by their oppressors and colonisers. this occupation must end. palestine must be freed in its entirety.

ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE
please especially send donations to help supply aid and food to gazans. especially to the organisations working within gaza. it’s not like there isn’t any food at all. gaza is not a barren land. the food is just inaccessible and very expensive and unaffordable for most gazans (if you follow journalist muhammad smiry, you’ll see he posts a lot about the atrocious prices of food in gaza). so your donations help people purchase food in bulk within gaza and supply to the civilians.
