"We were too young to understand what love really was... weren't we?"
You nodded, smiling sadly as you looked up at the sky that was filled with a million brought stars. "Every day I prayed that our paths would cross again."
His focus was on the broken concrete in front of him. "I went to the shrine everyday too, hoping that one day we would get a chance to make up for what could have been."
"I guess the gods had a different plan in mind." You mumbled.
"Seeing you now again, it makes me believe that those gods don't really care about what happens." He bitterly spoke. "Out of all the years we could have ran into each other again..."
"Who knows," you crossed your arms in front of your chest. "Maybe our destiny was meant to be different instead. We tried so hard to keep something that shouldn't have continued in the first place."
"Is that why you never kept in touch?" He questioned turning his head to look at you. "You left it up to destiny?"
Turning your head you looked him in the eyes. "I left it alone because I had no way of telling if we would see each other again." With glossy eyes, you continued despite your uneven breathing. "Holding onto something too much sometimes only does you more harm than good. We went our separate ways Tooru-"
"That doesn't mean you should had given up." He retorted, a shadow over casted his eyes. "I-" he clenched his jaw looking away trying hard to control his tears. "All I ever did was hold it inside of me... even if it did feel hopeless at times I never wanted for it to die." Tooru wiped away the tears that slipped. "If I stopped believing it... then it truly would have been over."
"Tooru." You softly spoke but he didn't dare look at you. "Look at me... please."
Slowly he turned his head, a sad smile rested on your lips. Gently you caressed the side of his face, he leaned into it closing his eyes and letting the tears escape.
"I wanted to keep holding onto hope too." You admitted, "That day I left all I kept wishing for was to see you again soon before either of us moved on. I wanted to throw everything away to run back after you."
"Then w-why didn't you?"
"Because if two people were truly meant to be then there is no obstacle that can pull them away."
He looked at you with glossy eyes. "Then let us continue off from where we left off. Let's give us a second chance to enjoy what we couldn't when we were in high school."
"Tooru." You gently moved your thumb across his soft skin. "Both of us are on different paths, we can't just drop everything to go back to a relationship we won't know will last."
"You said it yourself," he stood back up straight and took your hand that was on his cheek into his own. "We won't know if it'll last or not, that should be a good enough reason to test it out."
You closed your eyes, tilting your head down feeling the tears fall.
"I know somewhere deep inside," he gently held your chin between his index finger and thumb. "You still have feelings for me, your feelings never disappeared, Y/n." You opened your eyes as he tilted your head back to look at him.
Your eyes widened, realizing how much you missed staring into those chocolate brown orbs.
"I still love you, Y/n," he whispered. "I still love you like the day I first met you in my opponents gym."
"Tooru, I-"
"Let's not waste any more time." Tooru begged as he leaned in closer to decrease the gap between you two.
Your breath got caught in your throat realizing how close you had gotten.
"You have no idea how much I missed you..." Gently he rested his forehead against yours. "How much I missed feeling you, kissing you, having you in my arms... seeing your smile every day."
"I-I missed you too, Tooru."
A small smile formed on his lips hearing your words. "Let's be together then, there's nothing we cannot over come. We've done it once before, I know we can do it again."
Every bone in your body wanted to scream yes and not care about what could happen but it was impossible and you knew it.
"Tooru, listen I-"
Your phone then rang, you mumbled a quick apology and looked at the caller ID.
Pulling away you took a deep breath and pressed on the green answer button.
"Hey." You said.
"Hey, is everything okay?" They asked. "Did your train get delayed?"
"Oh um n-no I ran into an old friend." You said looking at Tooru. "I wasn't able to get on the train, it left before I even remembered."
"Well I'm glad you're okay. I was worried about you."
"Yeah I- um was going to let you know and I forgot." You apologized. "I'm sorry for worrying you."
"It's okay." They softly smiled. "I'm just glad you're okay. Are you going to be able to catch the next one? If not I can go pick you up-"
"No it's okay," you reassured them. "The next one should be here in a few minutes. I'll let you know when I get into the train this time for sure, I promise."
"Okay," they chuckled. "Tell your friend I said hey and hope to meet them one day."
"I will," you smiled small looking at the ground.
"I love you, text me alright?"
"I-I will...I love you too."
Tooru looked away, his hand formed into a fist. Defeat took over his body.
You could see the painful expression he wore on his face. It pained you to see him like this. The last thing you wanted was to shatter his heart.
"I guess you did end up meeting someone else new huh."
"Tooru I wanted to tell you-"
He shook his head, sniffling as he tried to control his tears. "I had small hope that we'd be able to pick up where we left off or start again... but I shouldn't have kept such high hopes." A small chuckle escaped from his lips. "But I don't blame them I mean look at you... y-you are such a catch, so beautiful. No wonder you were able to meet someone new."
"I wanted to come back here and meet up with you too Tooru." You sniffled. "And I should feel guilty because I have someone with me b-but all I wanted was to see y-you."
"You can't tell me that." Tooru tilted his head back closing his eyes tightly trying to stop the tears. "It's not fair when you know how much I still love you-!"
"I know it's unfair!" You cried out. "I feel ashamed for having feelings for someone who was supposed to stay in the past but I can't control them. How can I control these feelings when I have you in front of me?!"
"You have to." He pressed his palms into his eyes. "God... as much I want to kiss you right now and ignore what the other person feels... it's only going to make me a shitty person and makes things more complicated."
You wiped away your tears with the back of your hand. "I shouldn't be hung up on you still..."
Tooru exhaled and turned to look at you. "You can't control what you feel but you can make sure they don't appear again."
"W-what are you-"
"Until you're certain of the relationship you have and you know how you feel towards me..." He bit his lip, it was so difficult for him to stay it. "I-I won't contact you... nor bother you anymore. I won't ask about you to anyone and I'll make sure no one tells you anything about me so I don't distract you from being with them."
"Tooru you're not a distraction, you never have been."
"Maybe back then I wasn't... but right now I am." He stated. "It's best for us both to keep our separate ways now more than ever."
"Is that what you r-really want?" Your voice broke.
"I'd be lying if I said that I do," he said. "But there's no other choice... not until everything is figured out."
"I don't want to stop seeing you." You admitted.
A bittersweet smile rested on his lips. "I don't want to either... but we have to."
The train to Miyagi will be departing in a few minutes, this is the last train until tomorrow morning.
"You should go." He said. "I don't want to be the cause for missing your train."
You knew you had to move but you couldn't, you didn't want to watch him leave again.
"Will we ever see each other again?..."
He lovingly caressed the side of your face, smiling. But you knew his smile wasn't reaching his eyes. "I guess we'll see what the gods say."
"I hope they know what they're doing with us."
"Me too."

๐‘บ๐’–๐’Ž๐’Ž๐’‚๐’“๐’š: Kei was never one to hold so much value to a person in his life but now that you were gone, he realized you were more part of his life than he came to know. << part two of tidal waves >>
His mind hadn't comprehended what had happened back at the gym. He walked home like he usually did with his earphones in not paying attention to anything else.
It wasn't until he got home that his brother had asked him about you. As much as Akiteru loved his brother even if he understood he wasn't one to discuss his feelings, he knew he had done wrong.
"How could you have just let her go like that?!" Akiteru exclaimed.
"If you haven't forgotten I had practice." He responded in a monotone voice. "I wasn't going to walk out just to go chase her."
Kei stood up from the steps and sat his bag down next to his shoes at the front entrance.
"Kei you're not realizing what you just did." Akiteru said. "The one person who cared a lot about you is gone. Y/n has always been there for you she never once left your side even when you turned into an ass."
"Well maybe it was time she left." He admitted, a sigh escaped his lips as he took his glasses off. "There was no point in holding onto a relationship that's been slowly falling apart."
"Are you sure that's the reason?" His brother questioned him with crossed arms in front of his chest. "And it's not a stupid excuse for your fear of loving someone?"
"What... are you talking about?"
"Come on Kei," Akiteru looked at him in the eyes. "Since you started to grow up the only person you have been friends with or have dared yourself to call him a friend is Tadashi. You never cared about anyone else." He walked closer to his brother. "Then she appeared... and all that sense went out the window. You started to get closer to her without thinking about it. If you had disliked her so much you wouldn't have given her a second thought."
Kei looked at the ground as he held his glasses in his hand. It was true to some extent. When he first met you, he was attracted to you. He did not know what it was but it just happened.
Every time his eyes fell on you, you smiled back. Only talking to him when it was necessary or a simple greeting when you two passed by one another in the hallways.
Maybe it was the fact that you weren't overbearing or annoyed him like everyone else did, except Tadashi of course. He respected you but it went beyond that with him.
"I know you still care about her, Kei."
He turned his head to the side, looking back at Akiteru again. "How could you possibly know that?"
Akiteru smiled at him knowing he was right. "If I brought up anyone else you wouldn't have hesitated to interrupt me."
"Yeah well..." He mumbled going up the short steps and heading inside to the living room.
"You'll regret it if you don't make up your mind." Akiteru called out.
Kei shook his head slightly as he pushed his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose. As much of a cold person people thought he was, it did hurt him when he saw you walking away. He wanted to go after you but his pride got the better of him.
As he passed by the blue color couch, his phone caught his attention. He stopped and stood still in front of it as his eyes never looked away from it. His arm extending out to take it and paused midway. He closed his eyes, a sigh escaping his lips.
It was sinnister of him to think about contacting you, to check up on you and seeing if you were okay when he was the one who called it quits first. Still, he yearned to hear from you.
"I don't want to say something that'll make you feel even more worse than you already do but-"
"Y-yeah I know..." You breathed out as the tears wouldn't stop falling down.
"Tsukishima needs to know what he did to you." Your sister said as she rubbed your back gently. "He never even deserve you in the first place."
Your breathing became uneven, hiccups escaped from your mouth. "I-I just... I-I want to know why I was treated so shitty by him?"
"People like him never give any answers. They do it because it's natural to them. They don't care about who they hurt in the end."
"He was so sweet..." You shook your head and looked down at her lap. "I-I don't understand... I-I want to understand."
"Y/n." She looked at you with sympathy, handing you a tissue. "Sometimes the answers you are looking for are the ones that shouldn't be looked for in the first place. Tsukishima is one of those."
You blowed your nose as you tried to calm down your rapid breathing. "How could I have been so blind?..."
"You were in love." Your sister said pulling you into her arms. "Love is something hard to get rid of. Don't blame yourself for trusting the wrong person who promised you love." She wiped away the tears from your cheeks. "He's not worth those tears."
Burying your head into her chest you closed your eyes trying to ignore the pain that you felt in your eyes and the headache that was starting to form.
All you wanted was for this nightmare to be over.
There was a knock at your door, your sister ignored it as she held you close to her. Then your phone vibrated on the nightstand. Carefully she reached over, trying not to wake you up, and looked at it. The screen lit up with messages from your friends and Tsukishima as well.
Another knock was heard coming from the front door again. A message popped up from him again.
Kei โ€• 8:30 PM
I tried calling you but it went to voicemail.
Kei โ€• 8:40 PM
Tadashi told me he messaged you and you never responded. Are you okay?
Kei โ€• 10:31 PM
I know you probably don't want to see me and it's late. Can we talk? I'm outside your door right now.
Her hand formed into a fist as she heard the doorbell go off. Slowly she pulled away from you and covered you up with the blanket before treading downstairs as quietly as she could.
Kei put his hand into his pockets, pacing back and forth waiting for you. He checked his phone again seeing if his message had gone through. Biting his lip he looked up at your house, his eyes landing on your bedroom window seeing the light was turned off.
The door then swung open, he stepped back but saw it wasn't you who stood in the entrance.
"What are you doing showing your face here?" Your sister questioned with such anger in her voice.
He swallowed down and cleared his throat before speaking. "Can I speak with Y/n please?"
"You really think I'm going to let someone like you who doesn't take an account of other people's feeling, talk to my sister?" She spat. "You already tore her apart what more do you want from her?"
Kei's eyes casted downward. He had to admit hearing someone who was close to you talk to him like that did hurt. "I messed up... I have no right to talk to her but if I can just have a minute with her-"
"No." She stated, staring at him. "I will not let you belittle her again as long as I'm alive. You broke her, Y/n cried more over you than she ever has in her entire life. How can you stand here and demand to talk with her?! Don't you have any shame? Aren't you embarrassed?"
He moved one foot forward and looked at her. "I came here to make things right. Please let me talk with her."
She breathed out, smiling not believing what she was hearing. "Why don't you take no for an answer? Y/n doesn't want to be near you, she doesn't want to talk to you damn it! Leave her alone, Tsukishima she hates you."
He clenched his jaw, "I want to hear those words coming from her, not you."
"Why don't you just give it a rest huh? You're only making things worse."
"I don't care. I'm not leaving until we both talk without you butting in." He said.
Your sister gripped the doorknob tightly. "Well then keep waiting because that's not going to happen anytime soon. And if you don't leave then I'll have no choice but to call the cops, asshole!"
Kei climbed up the porch stairs, "Listen here-"
She managed to shut the door in his face, leaving him outside alone with his anger. He ran his hand through his hair slightly pulling on the ends.
His phone vibrated, it was a message from you and one from his brother.
Y/n โ€• 10:50 PM
There's nothing else to say, you chose and I listened. It's time this ends.
Kei โ€• 10:51 PM
Please let's talk about his before we call it quits.
Y/n โ€• 10:52 PM
I never called it quits. You did.
Kei decided to call you instead. As the ringing sounded, his anxious state rose. Silently hoping that you'd pick up and you would be able to talk.
But it kept ringing and ringing
finally it went to voicemail.
He dialed your number again, hoping this time you would answer his call. He was about to end the call but you voice finally came through and it made his heart flutter with happiness.
"I told you to not call me." You said, sniffling.
"Please hear me out." He said. "I want us to talk, Y/n."
"Now you want to use that card? You want to finally talk after what happened?"
Kei sighed as his eyes closed, trying to picture himself next to you. "I know I messed up, Y/n."
"You did more than mess up, Kei." You bit your lip trying hard to steady your voice. "You intentionally hurt me without caring about how it would make me feel."
"I know I knowโ€• god I screwed up the one thing I enjoyed having in my life." He said. "I won't ever be able to mend the pain I caused you or make it go away." His eyes became glossy, his voice was starting to slightly break. "I was an i-idiot for not realizing how bad I was treating you. I-I should have valued you since a long time ago. I had you in my life when I didn't think how lucky I was to have you."
You let the tears silently escape as you heard his voice.
"I wish I could fix this.. fix the the ache I caused you."
"But you can't, t-that's the thing." You wiped away the tears from your eyes with your palm. "Once the person that you love hurts you, there's no going back to how you were. The whole will always be there... y-you can apologize how many times you want but will never mend."
"You're right...I'll never be able to forgive myself for hurting the person I had promised to love." He took off his glasses wiping away his tears with his sleeve. "Even though I can't go back in time I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for not acting better and treating you like someone precious in my life."
"Why are you just... apologizing now? You had all the time to make things right... why now?..."
"Because it's true what they say..." He paused for second then continued. "You never realize what you have until it's gone and it took for you to be done with me and my brother to put sense back into my head, to face the truth."
"You know what sucks?" You asked.
"What?"
You sighed, "That despite it all... everything you did. I still love you and I hate myself that I do."
A small smile formed on his lips. "I still love you too, Y/n. Even though I didn't tell you enough times... I love you no matter what."
"Is this even right... to continue?"
"Honestly, I didn't think about it. All I wanted was to see you."
By now your breathing had turned back to normal and the wet tears were now dry as if they never happened.
"I think it's now clear, with all that happened today and before. It's becoming obvious that what we had was never made to last."
His breath got caught in his throat. "Don't say that..."
"Think about it, Kei." You said almost pleading him to realize the truth. "The relationship were in didn't feel like one anymore. We were both in a routine that didn't have any feelings at all. Everyday we spend together felt like something we had to do not because we wanted to-"
He cut you off, "You're wrong. I was the one who made it seem like it didn't matter not you. I gave up halfway thinking I didn't deserve you. You did everything right, Y/n. I just didn't put enough effort to make things right knowing I was ruining things."
"Kei."
"But I know if we try again, this time the right way. It won't be like it was before... things will be different."
"How do you know?" You questioned feeling hope disappearing. "How do you know we're not bound to make the same mistakes again and again?"
"Because this time I know we can get through this." He said confidently. "I love you too much to repeat the same mistake again with you. I don't want to live every day knowing you're not with me anymore when I could have changed and made things right."
You loved him you did, despite it all. Now seeing this side of him and hearing him say those words you hadn't heard in a long time made your heart yearn for him. But you felt uncertain, afraid.
"Y/n?..."
"I want to believe you... I-I really do but I can't."
He nodded even though you couldn't see him, "Right..."
"I don't want to feel hurt, I want to feel confident in a relationship and not second guess everything or feel scared of getting a deeper hole inside of me."
Kei knew you were right but he didn't want to accept it. He did not want to let you go just yet.
"Give me a chance... please." He pleaded.
You wanted to give in, to say yes and throw caution into the wind but you were only going to make things worse.
"I'm sorry but it's time we take our own separate ways." You breathed out, slowly walking over to your balcony window and opening it up. Looking down you saw him standing there with his head tilted back and looking at the sky. "I love you enough to let you go, Kei. We both need space to grow... because we can't continue on like this."
"I never thought how much it would hurt to hear you say that." He mumbled.
"I don't want to let you go... I want to stay beside you but it needs to happen."
You were both dying on the inside, craving to run into each other's arms but you had to hold back.
Kei turned to look at your balcony seeing you were standing there, the moonlight illuminating those features he loved so much.
"It never should have come to this... I'm sorry that it did."
A weak smile formed on your lips. "We were bound to crash and burn sooner or later. But we unfortunately found out too late."
"Even now you still look so damn beautiful."
A blush crept up your cheeks making you happy and sad at the same time.
"Promise me we will find each other again, and this time we won't keep it quiet about how we feel. I don't want to live knowing our love is still there."
"I'll make sure to let you know how I feel, Kei."
He smile widely, giving you the smile you deserved to see everyday when you were with him. Tears escape from his eyes, but that smile you adored never left.
"I love you, Y/n. I love you so much... I'm sorry for everything I did to you."
You cried looking at him, trying to smile as well.
"I-I love you too." Your voice cracked. "Goodbye Kei Tsukishima."
Neither of you dared to end the call. You were too attached with hope of things working out in the future but until then you needed to let go.
Kei breathed out smiling sadly. His hand shaking as he ended the call.
"Goodbye, Y/n."

Hey! I was wondering if I could request number #7 + #8 for your promptober? With Miche Zacharius. Thank you!!
Letters
Tumblr media
pairing: miche zacharius x reader
prompt: #7. It was inevitable, but I regretted it every step of the way AND #8. I'm mainly sorry that somewhere along the way, I started to care about you
content: big mentions of death, takes place after season 2 episode 1
wc: >1k
a/n: hi and thank you for the request!! I hope I did miche justice, iโ€™ve never written for him before so I apologize if itโ€™s ooc!
Tumblr media
It was inevitable.ย
It was inevitable that I would die. So stop moping around, and before you say you arenโ€™t, remember, I know you. You knew this would happen eventually. You knew one day I wouldnโ€™t come back.ย
Donโ€™t cry for me. I donโ€™t want you to. I never should have gotten you involved in this life. You deserved better. I tried so hard. So hard to push you away. But youโ€™re too stubborn for your own good. Look where itโ€™s gotten you now.ย
I tried to give you the life you deserve. Iโ€™m sorry I couldnโ€™t. I tried to ignore you. Iโ€™m sorry that there was something so captivating about you. Something that drew me in. Something that nobody else could ever have. But honestly? Iโ€™m mainly sorry that somewhere along the way I started to care about you. Iโ€™m mainly sorry that you let me in. Sorry that I wonโ€™t be there to tell you this in person.ย
I fell in love with you. With the amazing person that you are. It was inevitable, but I regretted it every step of the way. If I could change things I would. Iโ€™d make sure youโ€™d never have to endure the pain of knowing me. Iโ€™d make sure you were living a comfortable life with a decent man. Iโ€™d make sure you never heard of a man named Miche Zacharius. Youโ€™d be happy, alive, and most importantly, youโ€™d never have to deal with me again.ย
You know thatโ€™s whatโ€™s so funny about this. As I sit here writing this, it hurts. It hurts to think about you with someone else. Someone that isnโ€™t me. Selfishly, I want to be the one to provide for you. The one who makes you happy. Who comes home.ย
But Iโ€™m not. In fact, it looks like I never will be.ย
Iโ€™m sorry. Iโ€™m sorry for loving you. Iโ€™m sorry that no matter how many times I try I canโ€™t seem to end this letter, I know Iโ€™ve gone on long enough. I donโ€™t want to die. Iโ€™m scared. I know I shouldnโ€™t be, but I canโ€™t help it. Iโ€™m terrified. Iโ€™m sorry Iโ€™m not stronger for you. Iโ€™m just sorry.ย
Yours always,
Miche

Maybe we should just try
Tumblr media
"Hey."
"Hi."
Kuroo rubbed the back of his neck, as he held a red plastic cup in his hand. "H-how has your first year been going so far?"
"I-Its been going." You answered awkwardly. "I heard you should wait until your second year to see if you'll actually make it through."
"Yeah, that's what Bokuto said to me when homework was kicking my ass." He chuckled lightly.
"But you're still good at science right?" You pointed it out. "I mean you always managed to ace all those tests in high school."
"Well believe it or not my brain sometimes can't handle too much of it. Compared to high school, here they through everything at you without warning."
"I mean it's the first time we go to college. So yeah... it's bound to be rough."
His shoulders started to relax slowly, his body didn't feel as stiff as it first was. He hoped that you felt the same way.
"I um heard you joined a sports team?" He asked.
"Oh yeah!" You exclaimed forgetting about the awkwardness that surrounded you two a second ago. "I was accepted to be part of the team after going through a second try out."
"That's... that's amazing." Kuroo sadly smiled knowing he wasn't able to be part of that moment. "What sport did you end up joining?"
"Volleyball." You smiled. "After seeing you and the team play I wanted to give it s try. I'm by not an expert of any sort of course! I-I still have a long way to go. But I knew it wouldn't hurt to at least give it a chance."
"There's no reason to think like that. I think it's cool that you wanted to join. I'm sure you'll end up liking it a lot more than just watching on the side lines."
"I know it'll be rough that training and all." A chuckle escaped your lips as you could already imagine yourself serving. "But I think my fear is not being able to serve properly more than anything else."
He chuckled. "I'm sure whatever serve you end up going with will be fine. Serves are powerful yes, although they're not the only thing important in a game."
"Well knowing what Lev had to go through it's hard not to worry. Yaku and Kenma put him in so many training exercises to be able to serve good."
"I completely forgot about that." He laughed, feeling happy for the first time since he arrived at the party. "Oh my god Lev used to complain so damn much at everything thing. And poor Kenma was annoyed whenever he couldn't get it right especially when Coach Nekomata paired him up with Lev."
You nodded laughing as well remembering the good times.
"Kenma wanted to literally hide!" You exclaimed. "One time he begged me to hide him in my locker just to not spend another moment with him. I felt so bad for Lev knowing all he wanted to do was get better at volleyball."
Kuroo wiped a tear away from his eye, his smile widened the longer he spend time with you.
"I swear he never failed to piss Yaku off."
"But in the end it paid off it seems." You sighed smiling small. "I haven't talked to Lev or Kenma in a while, I miss them."
"Kenma is busy with work and Lev well he apparently got upgraded to team captain."
Your eyes widened. "Are you serious?"
He nodded. "Coach said he had gotten better and apparently he's good at giving the team confidence. He decided to give it a shot and see how he does."
"I'm so happy for him!" You pouted. "I wish I could have been there when he had gotten the news. He must have been so proud of himself when he received his jersey."
"He was I was able to go actually. I got some pictures of him, do you want to see?"
You nodded happily. "Can I please? I wanna see him."
Kuroo took out his phone and stood next to you, leaning in closer as your forearms came in contact with one another. He quickly went to his pictures and held his phone in front of you.
"Here's one." He said swiping it to the left and showing you Lev holding up his jersey, smiling happily.
"No freaking way," you mumbled. "Did he grow freaking taller?!"
"Believe it or not he's two centimeters taller than me." He answered irritated. "Now he brags about it so much."
"That's not fair he keeps growing and I keep getting shorter."
He smiled to himself as he swiped to the left again, "I think you're the perfect height."
Your face turned red hearing his compliment. You didn't know if he had realized what he said and was playing it off as if it was nothing.
"Yaku went as well. Some of them were able to make it but everyone else was too busy. Kenma went but only for a short while since he had to work."
"I miss them." You frowned. "It sucks not being able to see them everyday like I used to."
"They miss you too you know." He put his phone away and turned to look at you. "They kept asking me when you'll go and visit them again. Lev thinks you replaced him with someone else."
"I could never." You said looking at the ground, "Even after what happened... they'll always be my boys. As much as I meet knew people I can't ever forget them."
"What about me?"
You stopped breathing. You couldn't wrap your mind around his question, it had been such a long time that you forgot how he made you feel.
He closed his eyes tightly feeling regret washing over him for asking you such a personal question that bad no business being asked. "I'm sorry- you don't have to answer that-"
"I did."
Opening his eyes he looked down at you, noticing how much you had changed physically. The short hair you once had was now long, but the face he loved greeting everyday with kiss was the same. Your beautiful eyes were still there, shining bright like they always did whenever light hit them.
Kuroo waited for you to continue making sure not to pressure you.
"That day we broke up." You explained bitting your lip, preventing the tears from falling. "I couldn't function without you... without the routine we had built together for two years. I was devastated, I didn't want to wake up knowing my life was now missing a piece."
Your body was about to give out and he could tell you were trying to hold yourself together like you always did whenever a problem occurred.
"I kept asking myself what went wrong but I couldn't find an answer." With glossy eyes you tilted your head up to look at him. "If I'm being honest I wanted you back, Kuroo. I wanted to go back to you, to fight for what didn't deserve to end."
"Why didn't you?" He softly spoke.
Looking off to the side you sniffled. "Because maybe it was meant for it to happen."
"I didn't want it to happen." A sigh escaped from his lips looking down at his feet. "I wanted to make sure it lasted between us, I saw you as my future. I loved you even if I was too young to know what love was... with you it just felt right."
"Then why did it have to end?" You questioned hoping for an answer but at the same time you didn't want to know.
"Because I was an idiot who got their ego too high up to realize what he had." His hands turned into fists. "I didn't see how good I had it. I never meant to hurt you but I did. I was a fool thinking I would be find without you but I was lying to myself."
"I was in pain Kuroo... why the hell did you do that to me?"
He didn't have answer because truth be told he did not know himself either. All he knew was that he missed you every single day.
"I don't know." He whispered. "I wish I never hurt you, you didn't deserve to go through that. Not when you were nothing but supportive to me and understood my busy schedule even when I ended up cancelling dinner plans because something had come up. I didn't mean to hurt you... and I-I know I can keep saying it every time and not have you believe me but I am-" A sob got caught in his throat as his vision became blurry. "I'm so sorry..."
"I'm sorry." He repeated again, as tears escaped one by one not caring who saw him. "I'm sorry for everything."
In all your years he never failed to show you how he felt. He was never one to hide his emotions, it had been so long since you seen that.
It always pained you whenever he cried about not feeling good enough for the team or whenever his insecurities got the best of him. All you wanted was to take the pain away because you loved him.
Even now that's how you still felt.
You looked off to the side closing your eyes and letting the tears fall. "I love you still so damn much Kuroo..." You confessed. "I shouldn't have feelings for the person who hurt me but I do, I'm mad at myself that I still do when you don't deserve it."
The music became muffled noise for the two of you, people kept passing by you not noticing the situation. You were thankful the lights were dimmed down low.
He wiped his face with the back of his hand. "I know you deserved to move on but I love you. I have then and I still do now even more so than I ever thought I could."
"I don't know I can ever believe you again."
"I understand... I don't blame you nor would hold it against you for not giving me another chance when I know I shouldn't be asking for one." He reached out holding your chin in his hand and turning your head slowly to look at him. "But I wanted to let you know how I felt... I didn't want to hide it anymore."
"Kuroo..." You whispered, seeing those eyes you had fallen deeply for.
"And if you come to the conclusion that you don't want to give me a chance then I'm happy looking at you from afar." He sadly smiled, "At least I know I was able to have one last moment with you, tonight."
Slowly you reached out placing your hand over his. "I miss you so much..."
"I miss you too princess."
It was wrong to still love someone that caused you pain. Everything in your body yelled at you to stop and step away before you regret it again.
But you couldn't follow what your mind was saying. It was impossible.
The two of you looked at one another, not pulling away from each other. Your eyes slowly shifted down to his lips as he reciprocated your moves as well. Slowly you leaned in at the same time, stopping each second you got closer to make sure both of you agreed.
As you were a centimeter away from touching his lips he spoke. "Are you sure? I don't want you to regret anything..." He whispered.
"I've been waiting for almost a year for a sign to push me towards you." You said. "I have one now... I don't want to waste it any longer."
His heart started to beat rapidly as your lips finally met. Your chest was filled with so many emotions. Everything you had felt and wished for was put into this one kiss. Kuroo couldn't be happier that he had the person he had loved for such a long time.
He moved his hand and held the side of your face as he rested his other hand on your waist, tugging you closer. You placed your hand on his chest to hold yourself steady as your head got dizzy.
It felt like your skin was on fire and you couldn't be happier.
Kuroo couldn't get enough of you and you couldn't get enough of him. You wanted to get closer enough to feel him, to remember what it felt like to be held in his arms.
All those days spend away from one another made you feel crazy for one another.
Maybe it wouldn't work in the end and you were probably wasting your time again.
But you didn't care, neither of you did.
There's nothing anyone could say or do to change your minds now.
Pulling away you both breathed heavily against one another, a smile dancing on each other's lips.
"God I forgot how good it felt like to kiss you again." Kuroo mumbled pecking your lips.
You blushed resting your forehead against his.
"Me either."

tidal waves

Maybe it sometimes a love is too good to be true.
When you're young you're dumb, thinking that relationships wouldn't be so hard to manage when you are only 16. What was there to be afraid of?
But there comes a time when two people who loved each other too much start to go at war with one another.
That's how it felt like right now.
The happiness, love, and company you adored so much was starting to fade away. There was so much hope you had within you to fix things yet when there's no agreement from both sides, it's a loss cause.
"I told you I was tired today, y/n." He sighed taking a sip from his water bottle.
"I understand. A-and I'm not saying we should do anything after school. I wanted to come and cheer you on during practice-"
Slowly Kei stood up from the ground, a tired sigh escaping from his lips. "You're only going to be a distraction here. I need to concentrate."
Your eyes widened trying hard not to let his words get to you. "How is me being here a distraction?" You questioned. "All I want to do is spend time with my boyfriend."
"Well your boyfriend is too busy training to go to Tokyo." He annoyingly spoke. "You should leave, there's no use in you staying here."
Your grip tightened around the strap of your bag. He walked passed you not saying another word. "Why do you always have to be such an ass?" You muttered making sure he only heard.
Hearing your words made him stop. Some of his team members looked over at you two. They could sense tension between you both but didn't dare to interfere unless it was necessary.
"I'm being an ass now?" He scoffed. "I told you to leave because there was no use for you to stand around. I don't get how being honest is now me being an asshole to you all of a sudden."
"Because you are!" You exclaimed looking him in the eyes. "I've been trying to spend time with you but you kept pushing me away every time. I didn't bother you or said anything because I respected your space!"
By this time it had caught everyone's attention. Coach Ukai became concerned which resulted in him speaking up and it got on his nerves even more.
"Tsukishima she's not a bother, she can stay and watch." Ukai said. "She can even help if she likes, she's your girlfriend you should learn to be a little bit nicer to her."
Kei clenched his jaw tightly the it relaxed as he plastered on one of his famous fake smiles he used on opponents. "You're right sir, I was just saying that she had better things to do than be here. After all we don't know how long practice is going to last and she should go home instead to rest away form here."
You knew of course he didn't meant it. Ukai could see it as well. "Tsukishima she's not your opponent-"
"No." You weakly smiled. "It's fine. Kei is right," you looked at Coach Ukai. "I'll be in the way and won't really be much help. I should go study instead, I apologize for making a bit scene out of this. Sorry for interrupting your practice." You bowed respectful at the entire time.
"Y/n you can stay I'm sure you cheering for him will make him feel less grumpy." Sugawara joked. "Really, stay."
Kei wrapped his arm around you, making you jump in surprise by his sudden warm touch, one that you had been missing for so long. "Sugawara's right you should."
You tilted your head to look up at him. He was smiling but it wasn't reaching his eyes like it used to. If you rejected the suggestion you knew it'd make things worse.
"Okay, yeah just for a bit." You said pulling away from him and walking over to the bench.
"Hey Tsuki?" Tadashi spoke lowering his voice. "I know you've been stressing out about going to nationals but Sugawara was right. Don't you think you're um being a little too harsh on her?"
Kei looked over at you, seeing you smile as you spoke with Nishinoya. It had been a while since he saw you like that and it pained him deeply knowing he hasn't been able to make you smile like that in a long time.
"I don't have time to worry about stuff like that." He coldy spoke. 'Y/n probably won't stick by much longer I don't why I should care when we both know we stopped that a long time ago."
"Y/n is a great person, remember why you fell for her?" Tadashi asked. "You couldn't even stop staring at her during class and waited for her by the entrance every day after school."
It was true. His mind had been over powered by you in an instant. He himself didn't know when he started to fall for you it just happened. It was the happiest day of his life when you accepted his confession and returned his feelings. Being with you was like living in another world. You were the one person he didn't need to put up a facade with, he was able to be himself.
Pushing his glasses up to his nose, he walked back into the court. "We should get back to practice."
Tadashi looked over at you with sad eyes, he knew you deserved better and at times wished Kei would let you go. But he knew him, despite what he says Kei did still love you even if he did act like a jerk.
"Are you sure he didn't brain wash you to go out with him?" Tanaka asked as he drank out of his sports bottle.
"Tanaka!" Daichi exclaimed. "We both know he's not that mean to do such a thing."
"All I'm saying is that being with someone like Tsukishima seems impossible."
"He's not that bad." You said.
"I find that hard to believe." Kageyama mumbled.
"Tsukishima can be grumpy, even more so than Kageyama!" Hinata exclaimed.
"What did you say you dumbass?!" He retorted proceeding to kick him on the side.
"Seriously though if you were my girlfriend I'd be happy to see you every day." Nishinoya said. "Heck I wouldn't even hesitate to show you off and let everyone know how lucky I am to have such a beautiful girlfriend."
You blushed slightly. "That's very nice of you to say Nishinoya. I'm sure your future girlfriend will appreciate that."
"Hell yeah!" He exclaimed pointing at himself. "I wouldn't dream of insulting you or making you feel less. I think anyone with a boyfriend or girlfriend would feel lucky to have a special someone."
Your eyes started to become watery hearing him talk so sweet about someone he hasn't even met yet. You quickly wiped away the tears with the back of your hand.
"I'm sorry!" Nishinoya said. "I didn't mean to make you cry!"
"N-no." You sniffled. "It's not your fault, I guess the words got to me is all."
"Y/n." Kei spoke, making everyone freeze. "Can I talk to you for a sec."
You swallowed down hard knowing well he probably heard Nishinoya talking. You followed Kei, walking to the other side of the gym away from everyone.
He stopped and turned to look at you. "This is why I told you not to come."
"What?"
"I didn't need my teammates to find out how much of a horrible boyfriend I am."
"But I never said that!" You stated. "I-"
"I don't care if you did or didn't but you made it seem like I was. Whatever happened between us doesn't concern them nor Tadashi. I told you that our problems are ours and no one else's."
"Kei-"
"No." He said. "I didn't want to be near you for a reason. I wanted to avoid of all of this happening. If you would have just listened to me then we wouldn't be fighting right now!"
You were starting to get fed up with his attitude, as much as you loved him and wanted to make it work, Kei was turning into someone you didn't recognize anymore.
"Can you just stop making it seem like everything is my fault for a second?!" You yelled.
He was taken back by your sudden change in attitude.
"I've been trying so damn hard to stay by your side and work things out but it's becoming difficult to keep hope for something that doesn't exist anymore." Tears began to form in your eyes. "I love you, Kei Tsukishima despite your shitty ass attitude and how much of an asshole you are. But I'm reaching my fucking limit! I can't stay quiet and hear you talk to me like I'm nothing!"
Something in him snapped he wasn't thinking about anything anymore. His mouth just opened. "If you were suffering with me then why don't you go with someone else who actually cares about you and treats you like a fragile butterfly then?!" You don't need to stay, no one is tying you down or forcing you to be with-with someone like me!"
"Didn't you hear anything I said?!" You retorted. "I loved you enough to stay! Because my ass thought I could at least make you see how bad things have gotten. To fix things together like couples are supposed to do!"
"Don't you see there is noting to fix?!" He stepped closer, closing the gap between you two. "This was a mistake, since the very beginning it was doomed from the start!" His breaking became unsteady. "You need to stop living in your head thinking that this can be saved, give it a rest and just give up!"
One by one, your tears started to escape. Your mind couldn't comprehend how little your relationship had actually meant to him. How every moment you spend together wasn't real to him.
"Why are you hurting me deliberately?" You asked. "W-What did I ever..." You swallowed down hard as tears fell." D-do to you?"
"You." He answered. "I shouldn't have poured so much focus on you instead of practice. I haven't been this stressed since I first joined the team. If I would have known that it would only bring me a headache I wouldn't have confessed."
"So you're saying you regret everything?" You asked him stepping back. "That everything you ever told me meant nothing to you?"
He chuckled dryly, placing his hands on his hips. "I don't need to keep repeating myself. I've told you once already and with the way things are going I figured you'd get it but I guess not."
"You know what?" You softly spoke. "I really wanted to save this... to be like we used to but it's not happening. And I can't try to save something that the person doesn't want."
"So you're just giving up?" He pressed his tongue against his teeth.
"Yeah." You said feeling defeated. "I guess I am."
You walk passed him, sucking in your lip as you tried to keep down the sob that threatened to escape.
But you didn't make it all the way before be spoke again.
"Typical," he said. "Maybe Nishinoya should've been the one to have you."
"Are you kidding me right now?"
"What? It looks like you didn't care about anything when you were smiling your way with him."
"I was only having a conversation with him!" You explained. "I smiled because he had complimented me. Why do you care about that?"
"Because he's not your boyfriend and you're making it seem like you wished he had been!"
"I chose you, Kei!" You cried. "I didn't care about what anyone said about you! I ignored what people said about you being selfish and cold hearted."
"Wow thanks for making me seem like a charity case."
"Would you just stop and hear how much of an asshole you sound like?! No one ever said you were a charity case! I decided to be with you because I loved you. No one ever forced me."
"Sure then you're probably going to go end up in his arms next-*
"Maybe I should." You half smiled.
"What?"
"You heard me." A chuckle escaped from your lips but sadness covered your eyes. "You're probably right maybe this was doomed from the start and who knows being with Nishinoya might have been the better choice for me. Maybe then I wouldn't have to crave compliments from other people since my boyfriend doesn't feel like doing it anymore. Maybe seeking comfort in someone else's arms is better than begging to someone who doesn't love me."
Kei stood quiet looking at the floor with widened eyes. Regret started to run through him, his stomach fell to the ground. Sooner or later you were going to leave but he didn't think it'd be this soon. But then again this was what he wanted right?
Right?
"Why don't we take a breather yeah?" Daichi said. "Before you say something you'll regret in the end-"
Pushing his glasses up to the bridge of his nose, he turned to look at you with glossy eyes. "There's nothing else to say, everything that was needed to be said was said. Right y/n?"
"Goodbye Tsukishima." You said walking out of the gym and not turning around, no matter how much you wanted to.
"Tsukishima, you can take a break if you'd like or go home if you need to." Sugawara said.
"I'm fine." Kei said. "There's nothing else to think about, we have nationals coming up don't we?"
On the outside he looked calm despite what just happened. But the way his body spoke, how much tension he was carrying on his shoulders and hands, said it all. He wanted to scream, scream like he never had before.
As much he wanted to pretend like he was okay, he knew once he was alone every emotion would start to crash down on him like a million bricks.
He lost the person he loved the most and this time there was no other person to blame but himself.

"I'm so excited to go to the training camp!" You exclaimed as you helped collect the volleyballs from the ground.
"Me too!" Hinata widely smiled, "We're going to be training with power houses!"
You nodded chuckling. "I bet you're that excited to train all day until night time."
"I am, it's an amazing chance to get better," his smile slowly disappeared. "I want to find a way to fight on my own, the ball can get tossed to me but I'm the one who has to get the point."
"Hey, you will." You assured him. "I know Kageyama feels the same way even though you two might not be talking as much, he's been training as well."
He spoke looking at you. "I know Kageyama has what it takes to improve too, I'm anxious to see what he does."
"Hinata come help me with the net!" Tanaka yelled out.
"Coming!" Hinata tossed the ball he had picked up into the basket.
Sugawara smiled as he walked over to you. "I see you have gotten along well with the first years."
You blushed slightly. "Well it's hard not to like them, they have a bunch of energy and also are really inspiring in many ways. Although Tsukishima doesn't talk as much I'm glad he at least tolerates me."
"I don't doubt that," he said crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Tsukishima usually isn't that talkative with the rest of the guys but with you he looks like he's actually nice."
"He is, sometimes he has his moments but he's been respectful to me and the girls."
"I'm glad to hear that." Sugawara leaned in and pecked your lips. "I'm happy you're able to tag along with us to the training camp."
"Me too luckily I was able to set everything and get time off to go."
"I know the coach will appreciate your help but I hope it won't cause too big of a problem with your boss-"
"Don't worry about that, she's understanding so it was taken care of." You smiled.
"Alright," he chuckled. "I'll come by and pick you up at 5?"
"Sure I'd like that!"
"Suga we're all happy you have a girlfriend but could you please lend a hand?" Daichi spoke. "Y/n isn't even part of the club and she's helping out more than you."
You stifled your laugh as Sugawara tried to say something but Daichi wasn't having it.
"Go, the sooner we finish the sooner you lovebirds can have have each other again." He sternly said.
Sugawara sighed dramatically and followed him towards the equipment that was on the floor but he didn't miss to turn around and shooting you a quick smile with an air kiss.
"I love you, beautiful." He mouthed not hiding the wide smile he still had on his face.
You shook your head as you went back to finish picking up the rest of the balls.
The drive to the training camp was longer than you had expected it to be. During the ride you tried to sleep or talk to the girls to entertain yourself and each other. But it didn't last long since they both ended up falling asleep too.
As you walked down the steps with Suga behind you, you heard both Tanaka and Nishinoya yell.
"The sky tree!"
"Actually that's just an old steel tower." One of the Nekoma volleyball players said. Earning a big old laugh from one of the taller players.
Kageyama even looked disappointed to say the least.
You walked along Suga who was walking next to Daichi and the tall player from before.
"Oh that's right you two haven't met right?" Suga said, you shook your head.
"Huh, who's this? Did you guys get another club member?" He asked.
"No, this is Y/n L/n, Y/n this is Kuroo Tetsuro, he's Nekoma's captain." Daichi answered.
"She's my girlfriend." Sugawara smiled proudly.
"Wait, really?" Kuroo asked in disbelief.
Chuckling lightly you nodded, holding onto Suga's hand. "I am, it's nice to meet you."
Kuroo smirked slightly as he looked at you. "Well well, I gotta say she's one heck of a beautiful girl."
"Oh- t-thank you." You shyly said.
"Hey!" Sugawara exclaimed looking at Kuroo. "No flirting with my girlfriend."
"Hey, it's not my fault. Don't be surprised if the first years or other players end up having a crush on her."
"Well I'll just make sure to let them know." He glared looking forward at the first years that were coming out of the building to greet them.
You gave his hand a gentle squeeze making his growl to slightly disappear. "You have nothing to worry about, you know that right?"
Suga sighed, "I know... still."
Seeing he was still upset you leaned into his side and wrapped your arm around his waist instead, nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck. "I love you only."
He couldn't help but smile as he felt your touch. "I love when you do this." Suga mumbled.
The two of you walked with the rest of the team together to settle down and get changed. Afterwards you walked towards the gym where coach Ukai and Mr. Takeda were setting things up for the team. Kiyoko and Yachi showed up soon afterwards to help finish.
You on the other hand walked towards the fountain that was outside and filled up the water bottles for them. Everyone was so busy as the games were starting so you knew the least you could was help with something.
"Y/n?"
"Hm?" You turned your head to the left to see someone standing there.
"Are you, Y/n?"
Your eyes narrowed at them trying to remember who they were. Then their name clicked into your mind.
"Akaashi?"
A small smile formed in his lips as he approached you. "I didn't think I'd see you again."
"Me either, I haven't seen you since middle school."
"I'm glad though," he said. "What school did you come here with?"
"Oh I'm here with Karasuno, I'm not part of the club or anything." You said finishing up filling the rest of the water bottles. "I came to help out."
"Really? I'm surprised, I mean you usually always joined the art club each year."
You smiled small picking up the bottles to carry back. "My boyfriend is actually part of the team and he asked me if I could come along with him. Of course I asked Coach Ukai if that was okay."
"Here let me help." Akaashi said taking some of them out of your grip. "I see then, who's the lucky guy?" Although he was intrigued to know he also wished he hadn't ask knowing well whoever it was it would only hurt him.
"Thank you," you two got into the sync as you walked back together. "I'm actually dating Sugawara."
"I can see why, he's always trying to help out his teammates with practice. But also seems like a good back bone for the team apart from Sawamura."
"He's been trying really hard even if he doesn't get as many chances to play, he likes to try new things." You smiled happily. "Everything he does is just simply amazing."
"You really like him don't you?"
"I do," you continued. "I'm the lucky one who got a chance to be with him."
Akaashi silently admired you seeing how much you had changed these years. Every day he thought about how it would have been like to see you again. He almost forgot how much he liked everything about you. Now that the day finally came, it only made it harder for his crush to disappear.
"What about you?" You asked looking at him.
He slightly blushed, looking away. "W-what about me?"
"Is there anyone... you know that you like or have a crush on?"
"Not really," he answered looking at the ground. "I've been too busy with volleyball and entrance exams are starting soon as well, studying has been taking some of my time."
"I imagine dealing with a team and taking care of exam season isn't so easy huh?"
Akaashi smiled slightly. "Add Bokuto on top of that and it makes things harder sometimes."
"Oh right he's your guys team ace right? I heard Hinata talking about him a lot."
He nodded, "You'll most likely get a chance to meet him today, kinda hard to miss when he's the loudest in the team."
"Well that'll certainly be something go see then."
You both chuckled and continued talking as you made your back towards the gym.
"Hey, guys have you seen Y/n?" Coach Ukai asked as he approached the group.
Asahi looked around not seeing you. "No, not yet. Did you need her for something coach?"
"I did she said she had put my clipboard somewhere and I need it." He said. "I was wondering if she was back yet but I guess not."
"Y/n went to go fill up our water bottles she's probably on her way back." Nishinoya said stretching his legs.
"Look," Asahi said pointing towards you. "There she is."
"And with Fukurodani's setter?" Tanaka questioned, looking over his shoulder towards Sugawara. "Man Suga someone is already trying to steal your girl my dude!"
"Huh?" Sugawara walked over to where Tanaka stood. "What the hell are you talking about now?"
Tanaka only pointed at you as you stood next to Akaashi in the doorway, smiling.
"Is that Akaashi?" Daichi asked.
Suga didn't listen to his teammates all he could focus on was on you. Something tore inside his chest, that it was being replaced with jealousy and anger. But that anger wasn't slightly directed towards you, only him.
Daichi turned to look at his friend seeing his hand had turned into a fist. "Suga? Are you okay?"
You both then bid each other goodbye, you walked away smiling. Akaashi on the other hand his gaze had lingered longer on you when you turned your back to him.
"Hey! Sorry I took so long, guys." You spoke placing the bottles down.
"It's alright, hey do you have my clip board by any chance?" Coach Ukai asked.
"Yeah one sec," you answered going through your bag that was on the floor and handed it over to him.
"Thanks, alright let's get that practice game started you guys." He announced.
Everyone walked towards the bench except Sugawara.
"Koshi?" You called out towards him. "Is everything alright?"
He snapped out of his thoughts and ignored your question as he followed the rest of the team not paying attention to you.
As the game started you could tell Suga wasn't present at all. He often only paid attention or speak whenever he heard the teams cry of scoring a point, you were starting to get worried. He looked so zoned out that not even he was able to concentrate when he got put in.
"Hey, Y/n?" Takeda spoke. "Did something happen with Sugawara?"
"I uh...," you weren't even sure on how to respond to that.
The whistle then blowed signaling the match was over, you excused yourself and handed everyone a water bottle. You were going to give one to Sugawara as well but he had already gotten one from Yachi.
"Alright, I know it's tough and we are competing against different schools with different plays," Coach Ukai said. "But I need you to concentrate, focus on doing what we do best. So go out there and make sure you take those points back!"
"Yes, sir!" Everyone exclaimed.
You walked over to where Sugawara stood and pulled gently on the back of his shirt.
"Huh?" He turned around, seeing the way you looked at him. "What is it?"
"I've noticed how you're not into the match, you zoned out a lot of times and aren't giving your best like you usually do," you said. "I'm worried... did something happen?"
"I'm too busy right now to explain anything to you." He handed you back the water bottle.
"But Koshi-"
"I have to go if it's not something important about the match then it can wait."
Before you were able to yell out to him he had already gone back to the court.
"Alright we're up against Fukurodani now! Let's focus you guys!" Daichi yelled.
Sugawara clenched his jaw as he saw Akaashi standing in front of the net. He couldn't help but glare at him, his body became tense the longer he looked at him.
Akaashi awkwardly looked at Sugawara trying to ignore his stare.
"Hey," Bokuto whispered to him. "Did you do something to piss of Sugawara?"
"What?" He questioned. "No, I haven't even spoken to him since they've arrived."
The whistle sounded once more and the match finally began. Everyone on the the left side of the court could feel the energy had shifted. Tanaka kept looking back at Sugawara during the match, alongside Asahi and Daichi.
Nishinoya signaled at Daichi silently asking what the matter was with Sugawara.
When the ball got back to their side, Tanaka received it. It then went towards to Kageyama who tossed it up into the air setting it for Asahi but on an instant Sugawara ran up to spike the ball.
There were only two blockers at the front lined up to block him from getting a point. His eyes then went towards the left, Akaashi's eyes widened realizing who he was aiming towards.
With one single hit, he managed to spike it towards Akaashi resulting in the ball hitting him in the face.
Everyone stood silent as they tried to comprehend what had happened. The only sound heard was the ball losing it's speed and hitting softly against the wall.
"Akaashi!" Bokuto yelled as he rushed over to his side.
He sat up slowly holding his face, feeling a warm liquid running down his hands.
Bokuto then started to panic seeing he was bleeding. "You're bleeding!"
"What the hell just happened?" Coach Ukai asked.
"I'm not so sure myself either coach..." Takeda answered.
You then quickly walked over to the other side of the net. "Akaashi are you okay?" Only to make Sugawara feel even more anger.
Bokuto along with another teammate of his helped him stand up, staying close to him in case he fainted.
"I-I'm fine." Akaashi mumbled, "It's just a little nose bleed."
"I'm so sorry Akaashi, I don't know what got into him."
"I'll be fine." He reassured you.
"We should let him get checked out by the nurse." Konoha said.
"I'll take him, it's the least I can do after what happened." You said.
"Okay, she's going to take you alright Akaashi?" Bokuto said. "I'll go and check up on you after the match is over."
He only nodded and you wrapped you arm around his waist to steady him as you two walked.
"Are you seriously going to go with him?"
You stopped in your tracks hearing his voice ring out in the gym as everyone stood still watching.
"He gets hit and gets babied by you?!" Sugawara yelled. "What does somebody have to hit me in the face that hard or even harder for you to care about me instead of being by his side the whole damn time!-"
"Suga!" Daichi exclaimed putting his hand on his chest but he swat it away. "Calm down-"
"I'm not going to calm down when my girlfriend is attending to someone who doesn't even need it."
You tried your best to keep yourself calm to avoid exploding in front of everyone and saying something you'd might regret in the end. Looking over your shoulder your gaze landed on him.
"I'm taking him to the infirmary, Koshi," you stated. "He got injured because you exploded and let your anger get the best of you. It's the least I can do, until I get back try to calm down alright? Then we'll talk."
You turned to look at Akaashi. "Here use this in the meantime," you handed him a handkerchief and continued to walk towards the infirmary.
Meanwhile Coach Ukai kept apologizing to Fukurodani's coach and team as well.
"That was not cool, Suga." Nishinoya said.
"I agree with him," Tanaka spoke. "I understand your girlfriend is close to Fukurodani's setter and probably knows him but that was no reason to slam the ball into that poor guys face."
"You guys don't understand," he mumbled his grip tightening on both his formed fists.
"Suga what happened?" Asahi asked concerned about his friend.
"I snapped alright?!" He exclaimed lifting his head to look at them. "I got jealous seeing how she was smiling with him, at him. Y/n was having such a comfortable time talking with him that she didn't even realize how that made me felt."
"Suga she's with you, not with him-"
"I know that Daichi!" He retorted. "I tried telling myself that but every time I remembered how she looked at him made it ten times worse and it resulted in me slamming that ball into his face without realizing!" Sugawara ran his fingers through his hair pulling on the ends out of frustration. "She could be with him for all I know when she realizes how much better he is ... hell he actually stays on the court the longest than I've ever been able to. Akaashi- as much as I hate to admit it he'd actually be a better boyfriend than me."
"Why don't you take a chill pill and tell her that yourself later." Coach Ukai spoke as he placed a hand on his shoulder. "I understand love makes you do stupid crap but you crossed the line. I know this won't help but there's always going to be someone better than you."
His shoulders sagged hearing him.
"Fukurodani's ace has a lot more experience than you that we can all see."
"Damn way to help him out Coach." Tanaka said.
"But," he continued. "You bring a lot to the team and onto the court. I've seen how hard you've stayed late to practice even though there's only a sly chance you'd play during a practice match or even during the prelims. You have a lot of things that Akaashi doesn't, I'm sure Y/n can see that herself. She's always been rooting for you during the sidelines and during late night practice. Those times you stayed late I saw how tired she looked but she stayed because she cares about you. Y/n has gushed about how much she loves you and all the things she can't wait to see you do."
"Well now I feel like an ass." Sugawara sighed.
"Don't let your insecurities get the best of you as hard as it is. Try to learn from the others on the court and what you can do to get stronger because if you let it happen again there's no telling that she'll forgive you twice if you screw up."
"Yes, coach."
"Good now that that's out of the way," Coach Ukai said, he cleared his throat and didn't hold back. "What the hell were you thinking huh?! Pulling off that move! I know you are able to spike but you barely practiced that! You could have injured yourself and we can't afford for that to happen, prelims are around the corner damn it!"
"For a guy who gives good advice he can also give you an earful in an instant more than what Daichi does when he's mad." Nishinoya said.
"Well can't say that he didn't earn that." Asahi chuckled slightly.
"Now go to the bench and cool down for the rest of the match." Coach Ukai said.
"Yes, sir." Sugawara mumbled as he sat down on the cold hardwood bench with a towel draped over his head. Regret began seeping in as he recalled back go what he had said to you.
'Damn it, I screwed up big time.'
"Looks like nothing is broken, the swelling should go down soon." The nurse said.
"Is he going to be alright then?" You asked.
"He's going to be just fine for the meanwhile tilt your head back and put pressure on your nose with the tissue, so the bleeding will stop."
The nurse got up and threw away her gloves into the trash can. "I'll be back soon, use the ice as well for the swelling."
"Yes, ma'am." You said. "Thank you so much for your help."
Now it was just the two of you, you placed the ice gently on his nose as he held the tissue.
"I'm really sorry about him, I don't understand where all that anger came from." You explained. "I guarantee you that he's not the type of person to do that."
"It's alright." Akaashi said. "If my girlfriend was talking with someone else I'd get jealous too."
"Yeah but there was no reason to I mean we were only talking-"
"He saw something that's why," he said. "Sugawara was able to pick up on it."
You looked at him confused placing the ice down. "What are you talking about?"
A sigh escaped his lips as he tilted his head forward, taking off the tissue and looking at you. "I like you, Y/n."
Your eyes widened as your lips slightly parted in shock.
"I still do, ever since we started talking in middle school what I thought was just feeling grateful and happy that you were my friend turned into something more. Then the day you had to leave and we confessed to one another, I still kept hope that when we meet each other again the two of us would still feel the same way."
"Akaashi..." You looked at him with sad eyes.
He however still smiled softly at you, "I still wished that the two of us felt the same way but I see now that you moved on and with someone that makes you happy."
"I still did like you after I moved," you sighed looking down at your lap. "Every day I kept thinking about you, wondering how you were doing. But then I started to get used to a new school, I met new people. My feelings started to slowly disappear and then meeting Sugawara I realized I was missing you, but as a way of wanting to see my friend again that brought me so much joy and made middle school bearable for me." You chuckled earning a smile from him.
"I understand," he said placing a hand on top of yours gently. "I'm just glad that you're happy with the person you like, that's all I can ask for in the end."
"I really missed you Akaashi."
"Me too."
You leaned in and wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Akaashi closed his eyes as he tried to memorize your touch, knowing well he was going to miss it once the training camp was over.
"Let's keep in contact at least okay?" You mumbled.
"Well of course you owe it to me at least." He said making you chuckle.
There was a knock at the door, you two pulled away.
"It's probably Bokuto, the match is most likely over."
The door opened and it was him like Akaashi had said but there was another figure behind him.
"Akaashi!" Bokuto exclaimed throwing himself onto him. "You're okay!"
"Uh I'm fine, Bokuto. It was just a nosebleed."
"Hey..." The other figure spoke.
Bokuto pulled away from him and stood next to the person.
"Oh yeah, Suga here wanted to tag along." He said. "He's got something to tell you."
Sugawara's face turned red as he tried to look at Akaashi in the eyes. "I'm sorry about what happened... I was out of line and I should have talked to you properly instead. I hope you can forgive me, Akaashi."
Akaashi stood up, "It's alright, I'm fine there's no need to worry anymore it."
"Still, I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you."
"Apology accepted then." He slightly smiled at him and turned to Bokuto. "I should be fine to head back now, I'm sure the coach is probably wondering where you are."
You stood up as well, Sugawara looked at you.
"Can we talk for a moment?" He asked. "Please?"
Akaashi gave you a slight nod, you sighed and nodded your head. You waited until they were both gone so you could talk.
"Koshi-"
"Just please, can you listen to me for a sec?" He said. "That's all I ask afterwards if you want to scold me then I won't interrupt you knowing well I deserve it."
"Alright."
"Listen I'm so sorry for the way I acted towards you." Sugawara began, "I wasn't thinking and my jealousy got the best of me. I should have talked to you privately and not ignore you like a child. I was insecure with the way you were acting with him. I know I can trust you but when it came to him I wasn't able to. I was angry at myself not at you but I guess it came off as if I was mad at you."
"Koshi... there was no reason for you to get jealous of him or feel insecure in any way," you said. "But you did have a point about being mad at him."
"I did?"
"Akaashi and I know each other since middle school we were close friends and then the day I had to move, we ended up confessing to one another." You said. "But then I changed schools and I met you, my crush for him was gone but for him I guess he still had feelings for me."
"So I wasn't wrong then..." He mumbled.
"No but you were wrong about acting the way you did."
"I know, god I felt like such a fool in front of everyone." He admitted. "Even coach Ukai helped me realize how much of an idiot I was."
"You're an amazing player Koshi," you stepped forward and held his hands in yours. "Whether you're on the court or not, you're incredible. You don't hesitate to help the team out in any way you can, you came up with such good tactics that's helped them win. You have potential and are so smart on what to do whenever it becomes hard to score points." Smiling small you held the side of his face, moving your thumb gently against his cheek. "You may not be a star player but that's never going to change how I feel about you, because to me you're always be number one."
"I love you, so much..." He said placing his hand on top of yours that held his cheek. "I'm so lucky to have you.
"I love you too, Koshi... and I always will."
Sugawara pressed his lips against yours kissing you with such love and emotion. You both smile into the kiss feeling the heaviness disappear from earlier and being replaced with happiness. He sighed happily against your lips not being able to suppress the wide smile.
"I promise not to feel like that ever again."
"I know it might happen again but I'll make sure to remind you every day how great you are." You chuckled.
"I won't say no to that then." He pecked your lips wrapping his arm around your waist, not wanting to let you go.
"Hey," Bokuto spoke. "You okay, man?"
"Yeah..." Akaashi softly spoke. "I guess sometimes you can't have something you wait for too long."
"Who are you talking about?"
"Just someone who meant a lot to me."

"Y/n!" Hinata exclaimed as he ran over to you then wrapping his arms around your figure and slightly knocking you off of your feet.
"Oof." you mumbled, "Hey, Hinata." a chuckle escaped your lips.
"You're going to crush her dumb ass!" Kageyama spoke up, "Let her go."
Hinata whined, turning to look at him. "It's not my fault you don't have enough guts to hug her!" he retorted.
Kageyama was too stunned to speak, his cheeks turned pink feeling embarrassed. "I--" he stuttered, "T-that's not true!"
You tried your best to hide your smile. It was adorable seeing him get all flustered, it was a rare sight.
"Then why don't you hug her then?!" Hinata egged him on, "Go on." he slightly smirked.
Kageyama looked at you then off to the side. "It's okay. You don't need to hug me Kageyama-"
"I want to!-..." he blurted out, "But...I-I... um..."
Before you were able to say something else to him, the bell rang. The door slid open again signaling that your teacher had just walked in.
"Alright, everyone off to your seats you go!"
You gave him a reassuring nod then walked towards your seat. Hinata didn't hold his laugh, earning a smack from Kageyama. The black haired couldn't help but look back over his shoulder to look at you. A small smile formed on his lips.
"Remeber to study these upcoming days, the test is Friday." your teacher said, "I also do not want to see anyone getting less than a C. If you need help you can come by my office, I will be staying after school these days."
"Yes, sir." everyone replied.
"Now go and enjoy your lunch." he said, as soon as he was gone all your classmates including yourself got up to get some food.
"Hey, y/n." your friend said, "Do you want to eat with us?"
"Sorry." you said, with an apologetica smile. "I'm helping out today at the gym with a team meeting."
"Why?!" she whined, "Can you skip it this once? I'm sure Coach Ukai won't get mad at you."
"I can't." you answered, "The tournament is coming up soon."
"Fine, say hi the guys for me?" you quickly nodded then ran out the classroom. As much as helping the team win was important to you, the reason you enjoyed going was seeing him. Despite not being to talk sometimes, he always made you smile. It was contagious, when he smiled you smiled. If he laughed, you laughed.
A bubbly feeling filled your chest at the thought of running into him again like yesterday. There was a skip in your step as you walked down the long hallway. As you reached the second to last door, you saw his head sticking out of the doorway.
"Daichi!" you yelled out to him. You picked up the pace to catch up to him.
"I know, but I really have to go guys." he laughed looking at his classmates. "I will talk to them later, I have a meeting to get to." He bid his friends goodbye, sliding the door closed.
"Daichi, hey." you shyly smiled.
"Y/n, hey! Are you on your way to the meeting?" he asked.
You nodded, "Hinata and Kageyama left earlier then me."
"Oh good." you two started to walk together, side by side. "I told them to get there earlier to set things up."
"It took some convincing but they were able to go. I had to help a litte so our teacher could let them leave." you chuckled.
"I knew there was a reason they were able to leave." he added, "Knowing those two, their grades aren't the best right now... gees I hope they are able to raise them before the tournament."
"No lie sometimes it is hard for them to study, if it's not the bickering going on, it's probably something else."
"Yeah." he chuckled lightly rubbing the back of his neck, "I'm sorry if those two cause you trouble. I hope you are able to study for your exams too."
"I don't have as much trouble when it comes to testing, only a slight bit at English but that's it." you admitted.
"If you want I can help you study sometime." he suggested, "We can go to the library."
"R-really?" you shyly spoke, "I-I... don't want to take up any of your time. I know... y-you are busy with your own entrance exams and the team too of course!"
"I don't mind, Y/n." he smiled at you, making your heart flutter. "Really, let me help you if I can. You also do a lot for the team it's the least I can do."
"Alright!" you exclaimed, "Sorry..." you felt your face turn hot from how embarrased you felt. "I-I didn't mean... to yell..." you looked away from him.
"It's okay." he assured you, "Don't worry about it."
You sucked in your lips feeling it become impossible for you to hide the huge smile.
After practice was over for the day you started to help Nishinoya and Asahi to collect the volleyballs from the floor.
"Come on Asahi!" Nishinoya whined, "I need you to come with me, I promised her friend she had a date too!"
"I'm not going Nishinoya, sorry but that's not my scene." he said, "Why don't you take Tanaka instead?"
"Sorry my dude, I'm already busy studying with Ennoshita for today." Tanaka explained, "He's helping me out with Japanese Literature."
"You both suck." Nishinoya grumbled.
"I'm sure you can find a classmate to join you." you spoke, "What about Masahiro?"
"I don't know..." he mumbled, "He did cancel something last minute today from what he told me."
"See? Ask him then. I'm sure he'll be happy to say yes."
He sighed, "Alright."
"I'm surprised you listened to her." Daichi walked up to your group, standing beside you. "You never listen to any of us."
"That's because she is understanding and doesn't yell at me."
Daichi rolled his eyes playfully, "Even when we don't you still won't listen to us, Nishinoya."
"Well because..."
Everyone looked at him, waiting for an explanation that never came. "Whatever... thanks Y/n, I'll go call him."
"It's no problem." you softly smiled, "Have fun tonight."
"Oh Nishinoya, what will we ever do with him." Tanaka commented.
Daichi leaned over to you and spoke in a low voice, "Honestly sometimes I do not know myself." making you chuckle. He smiled hearing you laugh.
"Oh by the way, Daichi-" You began but got interrupted by a loud voice.
"-Daichi!" He turned to look over his shoulder, at the front entrance to see her, standing there smiling at him.
He waved at her then turned to look at you, "Give me a sec? I'll be right back."
You nodded, smiling slightly. "Sure."
Daichi walked quickly across the gym to get to her. Meanwhile you started to take down the net while he finished. Your eyes kept glancing back at them, how they laughed together in sync. How close she was next to him, not taking her eyes off of him. The way she touched his arm despite the obvious red cheeks. It's like they were in their own little world.
It hurt like hell seeing the person you like very much, be close to someone else that isn't you. Every bone in your body screamed of jealousy, knowing it wasn't you in her spot.
A sigh escaped your lips without realizing it. Kageyama noticed and walked over to you, his cheeks formed a tint of pink. "H-hey, are you okay?"
"huh?"
He tilted his head slightly, "I heard you sigh... are you alright? Does something hurt?"
"N-no..." you mumbled, "I'm a bit tired is all I guess, I didn't realize I had sighed."
Kageyama noticed it, as much as it pained him to see you like someone else he also did not like how you suffered either.
"You..." he paused, contemplating on whether he should ask or stay quiet, being afraid to know the answer. "D-do... you like... Daichi?"
Your eyes widened, you averted eye contact and became flustered. "I-I...uh n-no..." you stuttered, "W-why... do you ask?.."
He sucked in his lips, took a deep breath trying to calm down his emotions. Did it pain him to know? Yeah but he also didn't have the right to lash out on you.
"I've seen... the way you look at him." he answered, "Especially when you talk with him. Your eyes do this one thing I've noticed and only when you talk to him."
Biting your lip you looked at him. "Was I that obvious?..."
"Sometimes yeah..." He admitted, "Especially when the group is talking and he's not around. You ask about him, it's something someone does when they're in a relationship or... when you like them."
A weak smile formed on your lips, "I know it's dumb-"
"It's not dumb to like someone." he stated, "There's nothing wrong with wanting to ask about the person you care deeply about."
You tilted your head upward,"Kageyama..."
"All I'm saying is you shouldn't-" he stopped mid sentence. His eyes shifted to the front, no longer looking at you but at what was happening behind you.
"Kageyama, what's wrong?.."
'Should I tell her?' he thought as his mind and heart screamed both very different things to him.
"What is it?" you asked again, "Why do you look like somebody died."
Not waiting on his answer you turned your head quickly, "No wait, Y/n-" he reached out to stop you from seeing but failed. His hand did not make it in time to shield you away from the heartache you would end up receiving.
Your eyes stared at the news in front of you. It was impossible to look away from it. Your brain making it a physical permanent memory into your mind, to wake you up from your dream.
'They were kissing.' you thought, 'T-they aren't together... right?...' trying to come up with excuses to not face the reality of the situation. There was no more hiding or running away from the fact that he was kissing someone that would never have been you.
He on the other hand couldn't stop glaring at the pair kissing as if Daichi had forgotten you were standing there. His hand turned into a fist, keep his feet planted tightly on the ground from doing something stupid.
At last Daichi and her broke apart, his face was red and her's mirrored his same expression. He tried catching his breath, not believing what had happened, his eyes shifted to where you stood.
A tear rolled down your eye as you tried to comprehend the situation. One tear turned into ten then into a full on waterfall within a minute, Daichi's eyes widened as he saw how inconsolable you looked in front of him.
Your friend since school started, Kageyama turned you around protecting you from his line of eyesight. His arm wrapped tightly around your shoulders as your back was turned to them. You buried your face into his chest, letting him the quiet sobs that erupted from within you.
He stood tall, not blinking, as he looked at his captain. There was a fire in his eyes that looked the same way as if his enemy stood before him during a game.
"Y/n..." Daichi mumbled under his breath, he felt guilty.
"Daichi-"
He turned around to look at her. "Can we talk later? I need to do something important." she nodded and bid him goodbye.
The gym was now empty, only you three stood alone in silence except from the low muffled sobs that were heard coming from you.
Daichi stepped forward meanwhile Kageyama stepped back and retreated with you towards the exit.
"Let me talk with her." Daichi called out.
WIth jaw clenched, Kageyama answered. "I'm not going to let you hurt her again. She's had enough damage done to her for today, let her have her space."
"Why don't you let her decide?"
Kageyama waited for you to make a move but never did. "I think that tells you everything you need to know." he said then proceeded to walk out with you leaving him alone in the silent gym.

"Mom... it was only a question-"
"No." she sternly spoke, "You wanted to move to start over... you can't simply say that you want to move back home!"
"I-I'm not saying it'll be easy" you stuttered "... I-I just don't feel like t-this is the place that I see myself growing old..."
"You need to start knowing what you want y/n!" she exclaimed "We can't simply keep moving whenever you feel like you can not handle living in a certain place!"
"Honey-" your dad tried to calm her down but pushed him away from her.
"No!" she looked at you, "We are not moving. I'm sorry you don't feel comfortable being here... but you need to deal with it. Your father and I invested money and got new jobs we can't simply throw it away to move back home."
"I-I'm not asking you to do that. I never did." you said "All I was doing was sharing how I felt!"
She sighed running her fingers through her hair. "Well you need to think first because I don't know how we always end up fighting... I'm tired of it."
"You're tired of it?" you questioned "Imagine how I feel whenever I share how I feel? I can't simply say something without you ever feeling overwhelmed, since in this house if we aren't thinking the same way as you all of a sudden we are against you."
"Don't talk to me like that, y/n."
"See!" you exclaimed "I can't even say anything! It's tiring to have to feel like my feelings are invalid and not have an opinion in this house!"
"Then if you don't like it then go back home!" she retorted. "It's not like you'll stay there for a long time! All you do is run away from everything!"
Sucking in your lips you got off the stool and grabbed your jacket. Your mom followed behind you as so did your dad. "Where are you going y/n?" He worriedly looked at you.
"I need space... I-I need to be alone."
She turned her back towards you as she hid her tears from your sight. "Here take the umbrella it might rain later." You took the umbrella from his hand, "Let me know if you need a ride back home."
You nodded, sparing a glance to your mother before you walked out. As soon as the cold air hit your face you immediately started to calm down. The gloomy skies couldn't have come at a better time, sadly they were the only thing that actually understood how you felt.
The neighborhood was quiet at this time, no soul in sight, giving you the peace you needed. It started to drizzle, the cold water droplets falling onto your face was freshing. The overwhelming feeling of anger and distress was gone.
"Why can't I feel this peace every day?..." you mumbled spreading your arms wide not caring about your clothes, if they get ruined.
'Please let this last...' You thought 'I need peace...'
"You'll get sick you know." a voice spoke out. Turning around you came face to face with the last person you thought you'd run into. He extended his arm further to you, putting the umbrella over the two of you. "Why are you out here all alone?"
"I... needed some space." you answered.
"Do you need anything?" he asked looking at you worried eyes.
Shaking your head, you responded. "I'm alright."
"You know people who say they're okay don't need to be alone." he added "Sometimes company, or a good shoulder is always helpful."
A light chuckle escaped your lips "As much as that feels lovely... I can't accept your offer."
"We are outside of school." he said "I may be your teacher but that doesn't mean I can't be your friend after school."
'He's right... there is no reason why anyone needs to think something else. Plus...' You thought, 'right now I don't want to be alone...'
"Okay."
"Okay?" he questioned "Does that mean you want me to stay or you want me to leave you alone?..."
A small smile formed on your lips. "It means you are always right, Mr. Sugawara."
He smiled, "I am a teacher for a reason, you know."
"Which means no scolding me outside of campus grounds then."
"Alright." He sighed "I will do my best to not scold you then."
"Thanks." You chuckled.
"Come on I know where we can talk." you followed in step beside him. There was no talking only the sounds of the rain hitting the hard concrete. It felt like a perfect world. No thinking, just enjoying the moment. Sugawara looked at you from the corner of his eyes, worry took over him as he wondered what happened. Despite being a teacher, there was a deeper connection when it came to you. Yet he wondered if those boundaries were to cross, how would you react.
You both stopped under a picnic pavilion. He sat down next to you, placing the bag he had in his hands, in between the two of you. Sugawara opened the bag proceeding to take out two cans of flavored milk.
"Milk?" you quizzically looked at him.
"I know I know." he said "I thought it was time I changed from tea to milk, see what the whole buzz was about."
Chuckling you took the strawberry milk from his hand, your fingers lightly touched against his. Your cheeks turned pink, you looked away from him and tilted your head down. "I'm surprised you decided to change your mind."
"I thought it was time I listened." He opened his can of milk then took a sip. "Speaking of listening... I'm all ears if you need to talk." Sugawara leaned back against the table, "I'm sure whatever happened can be solved."
"Sorry to disappoint, but sometimes no matter how many times you speak out about it..." your moved your finger around the top of the can in circles. "... people don't want to change or listen to what you have to say."
"Do you want to elaborate?" he gently asked. "There's no rush, you can start whenever you're ready."
You nodded, "Before I came here I told my parents I needed to get away from my old town. They understood, only wanting what was best for me so they were able to get jobs here and better ones too." you explained "I'm forever grateful that they decided to take the risk in moving... but lately I feel like I made a mistake. Despite making wonderful new friends... I can't help but miss my old ones."
He nodded listening to you attentively. "I did need the clarity. I was stuck in a loop hole of my thoughts and couldn't find a way out. I wanted to venture out... create a new life for myself and help pay my parents back for all that they did for me. But as the months went by things seemed to change. I can't give out an opinion that's contradicting to my mom's because it'll start an argument. I can't help but feel lonely... " you blinked away the tears and continued trying to control your breathing. "I-I can't seem to speak out my mind when I'm at school sometimes. I get scared that if I don't agree it'll happen like it does with my mom... so I stay quiet in hopes people don't get mad I sided with one person instead of them. But I notice how much it affects them, it sucks I can't explain my side and truly say what I feel. I just want her to understand that I have my opinions just as everyone else..."
Tears started to pour out without realizing. "I-I'm... s-sorry." you stuttered quickly wiping them away with the ends of your sleeves.
"Don't apologize." he said "You're feelings are valid no matter who you talk to, or whatever you're feeling, they're valid."
Sniffling you smiled weakly "I hate it." you confessed "I hate I can't shake off the feeling of being scared of her words. Wondering if one day she'll use it against me when she's older. Despite the arguments I care about her... sometimes I hate it because I can't seem to realize what she's done to me."
"You can't hate as much as you want to... there are people like you that can't do that." he continued "You are a person one in a million that cares about others effortlessly without regret."
"Of all the people in the world and I just had to have a good heart!"
He sadly smiled "It's a curse, I get it. You have the right to be upset about it."
"Damn right I do." you mumbled "I don't see how others can keep being open minded."
"It's not that they're open minded or hopeful." he explained "They are the type of people who look for the good in life still and decide to take risks. Whoever you meet in life they won't ever be able to tell you if one day they will hurt you or be good to you. But if they don't take the risk then they'll miss out on the good and honestly no one wants to be alone. You need people in your life even if your circle is small, it's essential."
"What happened to not acting like a teacher?.."
"Sorry." he shyly rubbed the back of his head smiling "I can't help it."
Shaking your head you shyly spoke, "No... you are good at what you do. It feels nice that someone is seeing my side too." His cheeks tinted with pink, you then added "Say you are right..." you sniffled "What do I do then?"
"It sounds like your mom won't change unless she wants to. That's the number one thing to understand." he answered. "What you need to do is try to keep voicing your opinion but let her know you are not judging or invalidating her feelings either. Stand firmly with your beliefs as hard as it may be. It'll feel terrifying at first but as you keep doing it, you'll find the strength to not care about things people might say or think when they do not fully know where you are coming from."
"It sounds easier than it does." you whined.
"Be affirmative, but be respectful and take space when you feel like you might say something you do not mean. I assure you she will realize that you are not hurting her just trying to express what you feel."
"Can you switch bodies with me and tell her that instead?" you pleaded "You sound better than I do."
"Unfortunately that doesn't work." he chuckled. "I know you can do this."
"How do you know?"
Sugawara looked at you in the eyes with an adoring look. It made you melt at the way his eyes still sparked in the grey clouds. "I know a good person when I see one."
"I'm not good..." you whispered "I'm a weak person."
Shaking his head he hesitantly reached out, resting his hand on top of yours. "There's no reason why you can't try to become the best version of yourself."
There was something about this environment that made you feel like you could do anything. You did not know if it was how close he was or the words he spoke that made feel one hundred percent okay again. He was like magic, you did not want to lose that feeling.
"Suga..." you mumbled looking down at his lips then into his eyes.
"I can leave if you want..." he whispered.
"I don't want that."
He reciprocated your move, his body leaning closer than he expected. "Are you sure?..." his body paused half away leaving only a few mere meters between you two.
"I've never been so sure about anything else."
Gently he held the side of your face with his free hand while his other one rested on top of your hands securely. The rain poured harder than before, the wind picked letting the droplets hit your skins.
In a second your lips pressed up against each other. He kissed you delicately making sure not to rush into it. The way he moved his lips made your body melt into putty. His kisses were full of emotion but tender. You wanted to run a hand through his hair but couldn't. Sugawara held your hands in his tightly. He closed the gap between you both forgetting about the bag.
All he could think of was you. His whole moment was about you. You kissed him back as gently as you could. The sensation of cold was long forgotten. Your whole body warmed up in an instant. After waiting for months you were finally getting the kiss you dreamed about. He was the one you needed, more than you thought.
He tried pulling you closer to him by the back of your neck desperate to feel more of you. You leaned forward to follow his lead, a chuckle escaping the two of you. After a while you both pulled away, gasping for air. Sugawara smiled with closed eyes, he rested his forehead against yours not letting go. "I didn't think that was ever going to happen." he spoke.
"Neither did I... I did not think you felt the same way..."
"I tried my best to not give in but seeing you like this made me realize my feelings grew more than I thought."
You pecked his lips gently, "I'm happy..."
"I'm glad I ran into you today."
"Me too..." you smiled feeling your heart become whole again.
"I promised you I would be here... I tend to keep that promise for as long as you want me to." Using his thumb he gently moved it against your cheek back and forth. You leaned into his touch.
"What would this mean though?..."
"It's up to you." he said "I don't want you to feel pressured to be with me. And I do not want to put your education at risk either."
You held his wrist. "I want to be next to you, I want to talk with you every day and get to experience these moments... even if means we have to be careful."
His smile grew hearing you. "That's fine with me." he pecked your lips repeatedly making you laugh due to his affection. "I like hearing your laugh."
Your heart swelled with happiness making you feel jittery inside. "You're going to make me blush."
"Good, because I'm only speaking facts."
The sound of a loud engine broke you out of your trance. "Y/n!" the deep voice yelled out.
Springing apart, you quickly both got up from the bench. The figure got out of the car, holding his hand over his head to cover them from the rain.
"Y/n!" they spoke again.
You squinted your eyes to get a better look. "Dad?"
Another figure then got out of the car, "Y/n!" they yelled.
"Mom?"
Sugawara turned to look at you. You on the other hand were trying to comprehend what they were doing here. It was a rare sight for both of them to come for you.
You turned to look at Sugawara, confused as to what to do. He tilted his head to the side motioning for you to go over to them. "But..."
"It's okay. We can talk tomorrow alright?"
Your parents then walked towards the picnic pavilion before you even moved. Your mom stood in front of you then hugged you tightly.
"I'm so sorry... I was worried about you." she said "I shouldn't have told you those awful things. I'm so sorry."
Tears prickled at the corner of your eyes, you wrapped your arms around her waist. "I'm sorry too... I shouldn't have been so selfish..."
She shook her head "You weren't selfish at all. I should have been the one to understand and hear you out. I was ignorant."
"After you left I talked with your mom about not listening to you." Your dad spoke "We talked and she realized she was in the wrong with how she handled the situation. She became worried and went to search out for you but did not see you nearby."
"I immediately got into the car and told your dad to drive around town to see if we could find you. Thankfully you didn't go far away and we were able to find you." she wiped away your tears as she looked at you.
"I'm happy that you came..." you smiled.
"I promise I won't let it happen again... things will change. The last thing I want is to make you feel unwanted."
"Mr. Sugawara thank you for looking after her." He said "I'm glad my little girl was safe."
"I'm happy I could help out. I'm just glad that you were able to work it out." Sugawara smiled softly looking at you.
"We should get you home." she said. "Mr. Sugawara let us give you a ride back home."
"No it's no problem. I'm at a walking distance from my house."
"Are you sure? It is raining heavily you might catch a cold." your dad added.
"It's alright." Sugawara walked over to you, handed you the bag that had snacks and milk. "Here you should keep these knowing me I probably won't finish them."
"You gave up on the milk so easily?"
"What can I say? I'll always be a tea lover after all." he winked at you. "I'm sure you will be able to finish them."
"Thank you for all your help." you took him by surprise as he felt you hugging him in front of your parents.
"I'm here if you need anything." he hugged you back with one arm making sure to keep it professional even though he wanted to kiss you.
"Come on let's get home, you need a change of clothes." your dad started to walk back to the car, your mom thanked Sugawara and followed him.
"I'll see you tomorrow alright?"
You nodded, "Till tomorrow then? It feels like a lifetime."
"Don't worry it will be morning before you know it. I have a feeling you won't feel too alone." he quickly kissed your lips then pulled back before you had time to return the kiss. "You should get going."
You waved goodbye at him as your hands slowly slipped away from one another. Already missing his warmth, you followed your parents back to the car.
As your dad pulled away, Sugawara waved goodbye to you and motioned for you to open the bag. When you opened it up you saw a piece of paper.
Even if we are apart, you can always reach out to me when you need someone to talk to. Just make sure to be careful I don't want them to confiscate your phone because of me. Be careful and I hope to hear from you soon, I miss you already! <3 (โ—ก ฯ‰ โ—ก)
-Koshi (910-XXXX -XXXXX)
Sugawara opened his umbrella ready to go when his phone vibrated. His smile grew as he reread the message again and again.
[ Unknown ]
Hey! Do know before hand that I may be texting you all the time. If you get annoyed too bad! Now we'll talk to each other all the time. I miss you already, Koshi. ((:
Biting his lip he messaged you back. Your stomach grew butterflies as you read his message.
Koshi ๐Ÿ’•
You definitely won't be annoying me. I'm willing to take on the challenge. I'm going to enjoy talking to you all the time. I can't wait to see your beautiful face tomorrow (; ๐Ÿ’•

"Can we talk?" Kageyama breathed rapidly as he tried catching his breath. His eyes immediately went down your figure realizing you were dressed up.
"I can't right now." you said "I'm going out and don't have time for you-"
"-I know you can make time y/n, Oikawa isn't going to come by early knowing him he'll take his sweet as time picking out an outfit."
"I'm not going out with Oikawa and even if I was why do you care?" you sneered "He's a much better person that you are anyways."
He closed his eyes trying to lash out at you. "I'm going to pretend that you did not compare me with that asshole pretty boy."
"At least you admit he's good looking." you smirked.
Rolling his eyes he stuffed his hands in his pockets, "Can I come in or not?"
Rolling your eyes this time you stepped aside "You have a minute."
His eyes roamed around the room seeing the pictures and decorations you had hanging up on the wall. Your room was the same size as his, you had it neatly organized compared to his.
"What's your deal with him." he spoke turning around to look at you, leaving distance between you both.
A tired sigh escaped your lips "With who?"
"You know who, y/n."
Folding your arms in front of your chest you returned his gaze with a glare. "It's none of your business..." you spoke. "You shouldn't be asking something personal..."
"Damn it, y/n it is my fucking business!" he shouted.
You were taken back at his raised voice. Kageyama was known as having a temper and not care about anyone that wasn't about volleyball or himself. It was strange to see him act this way, almost as if he did mean what he said to you a few days ago.
Looking away you bit your lip, "You already have a girlfriend... focus on her."
"She's not my girlfriend-"
A light chuckle escaped from you. "It did not seem like it last time I saw you locking lips with her."
"It's not her that I want, y/n!" he sighed "I fucked up, I know!" Kageyama noticed your quiet behavior, coming here was only making you feel uncomfortable yet, he couldn't help it. He had to see you. "Please... looka at me." he softly spoke.
"I-I can't..." you admitted "Every time I look at you, the only thing that shows up in my mind is seeing you and her kissing each other... it's hard enough as it is."
He rubbed his face, "I did not want to kiss her but she grabbed me and kissed me."
"Doesn't matter if she grabbed you." you looked up at him, "I saw you kissing her back as if it was nothing. As if you hadn't just confessed to me a few days ago that you liked me."
"I swear I'll do things differently this time around... give me a chance that's all I ask."
A voice inside your mind told you to run away, to not give in to his empty words that would turn into dust soon. Kageyama had his issues, who didn't, hell you even had your own but you never hurt anyone. It pained you when he was around other girls acting like it did not bother him when they were all over him. Seeing that every day made the pain inside you worse.
"Even if I did..." you began "Are you willing to even change?" your eyes turned glossy and voice became weak as you were finally being honest with yourself and him. "How do I know you aren't going to turn back into the asshole you always are? Into a person who does not care about anyone but himself? If I come see you or even turn to look at you, are you going to ignore me or insult me in front of your groupies too? Or are you going to finally take off that mask you wear and not care about your reputation for once?" you questioned "B-because if you can not bother to do that then there is no use... no point in me giving you a chance..."
Kageyama slowly took a step forward, looking you in the eyes. "You... you never had a problem with it. I admit I am a pain in the ass and treat you like a stranger when I shouldn't..."
"Then why do you?!" you exclaimed, letting the tears slip down your cheeks. "You know how hurtful it has been for me? The crap I hear about your groupies when I walk by?"
He shook his head, "Why didn't you ever tell me anything?"
"Even if I did what would you have done about it? When I am at school my whole existence does not matter to you. A month ago it didn't so why would it now-"
Holding down the frustration he felt, he finally let out the words he had been trying to practice to say for such a long time. "-I've fallen for you!"
"W-what-" you looked at him confused not sure what to say or how to feel at the sudden confession.
"I like you more than I thought I would." he confessed "I-I liked you even before we were partnered up to be part of the committee. I knew you probably would not feel the same way but then... we started to spend time together and I-I... well I fell for you more..."
Wiping away your tears you tried replaying the words he said. "Do you ever mean the things you say?..."
He took a deep breath then exhaled, closing the space between you two. "I mean it... I mean all the things I say to you when we are alone." His hand extended forward towards your own, he interlaced your fingers together halfway.
You looked down at your hands feeling the warmth rushing up to your cold skin.
"I saw you talking with him earlier today..." Kageyama said, before you could protest you continued "Look, it's nothing. I know, I have no right to be jealous. I just..." he pressed his lips into a thin line "... listening to you talking about your day to someone, that wasn't me... it stung."
"Now you see how I feel when you are flirting with them?..."
"I understand the outrage you have towards me I deserve it." he pulled your hand closer and completely intertwined your fingers together. "I didn't mean all those horrible things I said about you, y/n. I really like you, hell any guy would be lucky to be with you. You are everything a guy would want in a girlfriend."
Your stomach grew butterflies and your chest tighetened. "I never thought I would hear those words coming from you again."
Something in his eyes changed. His emotions were starting to show in his beautiful eyes that made you look at him at a different light, one you wished you could see all the time. "I want to be with you, y/n." he held the side of your face, gently using his thumb to caress your cheek. You automatically leaned into his touch not being to help how happy it made you feel. "I want to be the one you tell the good and bad parts about your day, get lunch and dinner together and... tell each other good night only to see one another agin in the morning.
It was all you wanted, how you pictured he would come to his senses. A small smile formed on your lips, looking him in the eyes you spoke the next words. "I want to be with you too.." a small smile formed on his lips as well, "But I need you to change first Kageyama."
"Y/n..."
"As much as I like you... and I like you so damn much." you slowly pulled away from him, "I can't be with you if you are not willing to do your part for this to work. I do not want to feel hope when it will only come crashing down again."
"What if you give me a chance while we are together?-"
"I can't." you sighed, "I know how it will end... if you understand then you will know it is better for us both to do this. And... if you don't want to bother with seeing why then it is best for you to not talk-"
"No." he rested his forehead against yours, "I want you to be able to trust me if it means that I can't have you right now like I want to."
Your cheeks became wet, you couldn't tell who's tears they were. You wrapped your arms around his middle, hugging him tightly. "I can't wait to see the new you." you mumbled into his chest.
"I promise, I won't make you feel like how I used to."
A knock at the door broke you apart, the door then opened before you had the chance to go open it yourself.
"Yo hooo, Y/n!" he exclaimed "Are you ready to go- oh."
You felt Kageyama tense up seeing Oikawa's appearance, "Oikawa."
"Tobio, I did not expect to see you are." he said walking over to stand by your side. "Lately all I see is you mistreating Y/n, what did the king finally had a change of heart?" he smirked.
"Oikawa..." you warned, "Let's not start okay?"
"It's fine." Kageyama spoke "I should head head out... I don't want to say things that will make things worse."
"What are you jealous that me and Y/n are going out tonight?" Oikawa snickered.
He shook his head chuckling lightly, "Are you jealous?"
"Why would I be jealous?" Oikawa crossed his arms in front of his chest.
Shrugging he then headed towards the door, "I may not be the one to go out with her tonight but I know I have her heart and she has mine. I do not need to worry about anything else."
"Don't be so cocky, knowing you, you'll end up changing your mind and be an ass to her again."
"You can bash all you want but only me and her know where we stand together." Kageyama gave you a gentle smile "I'll see you tomorrow, y/n."
Your cheeks turned pink, "Bye Kageyama."
Once he was gone, Oikawa turned to look at you. "Did he mean what he said?"
"Truthfully? I don't know." you answered "I do not want to get my hopes up... but I want to keep hope that he will come around."
"I see..." he mumbled, "So, ramen tonight?"
"Yeah that sounds good." he wrapped an arm around your shoulders and lead you out into the hallway.
"I know the perfect place."
You turned your head to see Kageyama standing down the end of the hallway. He shot you a small smile, feeling an amount of emotions inside of him. However he knew that he needed to be patient and change if he wanted to have a chance at being with you.

Pairing: Kuroo Tetsuro x F!Reader [slight Akaashi x F!Reader ]
Summary: College is about opportunities, projects, making friends, going to parties etc. There was no doubt that when the most popular volleyball player suddenly asks to be your partner for a project that things would be surprising to say the least. It was all about being more open even if people did talk.
Warning: fluff, angst, cursing, over protectiveness,

"Why is everyone staring at me?" you whispered into Akaashi's ear.
Akaashi looked around the room not seeing anything out of the normal, students were sitting down getting ready for the lecture. Yet there were pairs of eyes following your every move. "Is there something you need?" he spoke out loud staring down at them.
They quickly turned to look away, that of course did not stop the whispering amongst one another. "What is everyone's deal?" you muttered "The one time I decide to not wash my hair because I was running late and this happens." dropping your bag into your chair, you then took out your laptop.
Your close friend followed your step and took his regular seat beside you. "It will blow over soon you know how rumors are." he said "Do not pay them any attention."
Frowning you sat down trying to ignore everyone's stare. "What did you end up getting on the test anyway?"
"I got a 95." he answered, "What about you? Did the notes help?"
"They did actually!" you smiled "I should have asked you for help sooner. I can't believe how easy it felt and not once did my thinking stopped."
He gently ruffled your hair "I am glad to hear that. We can go to the library later to study-"
"Y/n!" a voice spoke.
You both turned around to see your partner Kuroo standing in the doorway. The girls immediately rushed over to him. "Are you free today to work on our project?" he smiled walking over to you as he ignored the girls calling his name.
Suddenly you were the center of attention, the thing you hated the most. "I-I can't today actually." you responded "I already made plans and I need to study for an upcoming exam."
"Oh come on..." he pleaded taking a seat on the left, "We still have a lot to do plus, I was able to get those little insects that we needed." Kuroo leaned forward, "Can't you skip just for today?"
Akaashi looked at the crowd that had gathered, he then stepped in. "We can study at lunch that way you and Kuroo can finish the project, Y/n."
Turning your head you looked at Akaashi, "Are you sure? I thought you needed to-"
"-no don't worry about it." he reassured you "Kuroo she'll meet you at the library later now can you leave since class is about to start?"
Kuroo softly smiled at you "Oh right, sorry." he got up "I'll see you later then partner?"
With flushed cheeks you nodded, "Sure, see you later Kuroo!" he waved goodbye at you then took off.
"Are you sure you still want to be partnered up with him?"
"Why do you ask?"
He shrugged "It looks like to me he's grabbing your attention too much. You two did see each other a day ago."
Waving him off you started pulling up your notes, "He's not." you added "You are looking too much into things, Kuroo is popular but not like he feels that way about me." he was about to speak when the professor then walked in.
After finishing your classes for the day you messaged Kuroo about meeting up at a local cafe instead, since you did skip dinner to finish an essay. Your phone then vibrated.
Kuroo || 7:22 pm
'Hey! I just came across a cafe. What food would you like?'
You || 7:22 pm
I thought we were meeting at the one nearby campus, are you not close by?
Kuroo || 7:25 pm
I had to go off campus for some things. Plus the food here is better than the one there. I want you to have something good to eat you'll need the energy after all.
Your cheeks flushed, you had to reread the message to make sure you weren't hallucinating anything.
You || 7:27 pm
I can go for a sandwhich and a warm latte. ((:
Kuroo || 7:28 pm
Just like me! What a coincidence ((: I know just what to get, give me ten minutes and I'll be right there.
You bit your lip trying to contain the smile that was growing on your lips. People always had something to say about him. Yet you were starting to believe that maybe those were just rumors people made up and weren't seeing the real him.
Akaashi || 8:34 pm
Hey I am at your dorm, I brought some ice cream.
"That is so cool though!" you exclaimed, "Did you guys end up staying friends after what happened?"
Kuroo leaned back in his chair "I know people make it seem as if once you are rivals you stop being friends but that is nothing but lies." he answered "We are still close friends till this day but when we are on the court the feeling is different, the air itself feels like it comes from a different world."
You nodded, "Are you still going to pursue volleyball after you graduate or are you using your BA degree for chemistry?"
"I'm in the middle right now." he chuckled lightly "I want to continue to play... yet I really like what I'm studying too."
Smiling softly, you placed your pencil down on the table, and turned to look at him. "I think you should do both." you suggested. "You are still young to have to decide between two things. Volleyball is clearly what you enjoy right now why not keep going? After when you feel like you are going from loving to liking it then you can go and choose chemistry. It's basically having the best of both worlds."
He looked at you realizing how simple it sounded coming from your lips. "I never thought about it that way... I actually haven't told my parents either."
"In the end it is up to you. Going to your parents for advice is good they give you another perspective into things." you rested your cheek on the palm of your hand looking at him. "I think whatever you end up choosing you will be fine."
His heart was starting to beat faster, he bit his lip trying to contain his smile. "Why do you sound so sure?"
"I have a feeling is all." you smiled.
"I'm glad you agreed to be my partner." he confessed "I have seen you around school but never got a chance to talk to you till now."
"I felt shy in the beginning to be honest..." you chuckled "I was not quite sure what it would be like talking to you."
"Did your opinion change?"
"I can say that you took me by surprise." you answere smiling softly as you got back to work. He sat there for a moment watching as you worked, he did not realize how fast he was starting to like you.
Working with Kuroo has been a whole new world. It felt as if he was cracking open your small shell to let out the real you. Kuroo on the other hand did not see how more open he was being. Whenever he was with you, his thoughts seemed to come out without any worry or fear about people judging him. For once both your fears started to become invisble the longer you spent time together.
"Are you free this weekend?" by the way he asked as you arrived at the front of your dorm.
"I do not have any plans that I know of." you said "Did you want to work on the project?"
"Actually..." he scratched the back of his head feeling shy all of a sudden, "I wanted to take you out somewhere this weekend. If you wanted to of course!"
"Sure." you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear "DId you have somewhere in mind?"
"I'm still thinking about the place actually." he nervously laughed "I promise to let you know by tomorrow though."
'Okay he is being too cute right now!' you thought.
"Don't worry you can let me know tomorrow Kuroo." you reassured him.
He nodded, "Well... I should probably let you get some rest since it is eleven already."
"Right..." you slightly smiled feeling dissappointed that he had to leave, "Good night... Kuroo."
"Good night, Y/n." he softly said, being the bold person he is he leaned in and gave your cheek a gentle kiss.
You closed your eyes smiling as you felt his lips on your cheek. Butterflies began to fly all around in your stomach and your heart started to do flips of joy. When he pulled away his face stayed a few centimeteres away from yours.
"Good night... y/n."
"Good night, Kuroo."
--
"What's got you smiling so much?" Akaashi asked as he twisted the lid to open his tea.
"Life is just beautiful." your radiant smile made his heart beat. He couldn't help but replicated your good mood. Seeing you this happy made him happy.
"Have you talked to Kuroo?"
"Not yet." you answered, "But he has responded to my texts he said he has been busy with volleyball and the exams that are coming up for his class."
He nodded listening as you spoke, "At least he is not a jackass like the other guy. Kuroo had the decency to tell you he was busy..."
You sighed "I know." you mumbled "I really like... like him Akaashi." '
His footsteps stop, although his feelings were kept a secret from you except Kuroo, he did not want to stop you from being happy. Kuroo looked like a nice person yet he did not know if it was his jealousy or a feeling of uncertainty.
"Akaashi?"
"I am happy that you are happy." he said.
"But?" you walked closer to him.
A small smile formed on his lips as he looked at you, "Nothing... I hope he is everything you are dreaming of, Y/n."
"Thank you for being there for me." you said, wrapping your arms around his torso you hugged him tightly.
He hugged you back, wrapping his arms around your figure, pressing a gently kiss to the top of your head. "I am right here if you need me." you burried your head into his chest not wanting to let go.
"Come on we should get going." he said "Or else the professor is going to be mad we missed lab today."
"Do we have to?" you mumbled.
A chuckle escaped his lips, "We have to if we want to finish the year off good."
Pulling away from one another you groan, "Alright... fine."
Akaashi took your bag and slung it over his shoulder, "Come on." he said and walked side by side in silence on your way to class.
When you arrived the class was already packed with other students. Many were barely arriving just like you both. As you walked down the stairs to get to your seats a group of girls walked over to where you stood.
"Um... can I help you?" you asked nervously.
"You do realize Kuroo is playing with you right?" the girl said.
"What are you talking about?"
The girl with brown hair then spoke up, "Your name came up on a post in a private chat about how long it would take for him to get you to fall for him."
Shaking your head you knew what they were saying wasn't true. "I-I think... you must be misunderstanding something. It can be anyone's name I'm not the only one named y/n."
Akaashi then stepped in "If this is a prank from you because Kuroo did not take an ever so glance at you then you are messing-"
"-I promise we are not lying-!" she took a deep breath and calmed her emotions. "Look one of the girls from our dorms messaged us last night about the post. It had your name and a picture from the rally last year."
You tilted your head down, your mind was running around in circles trying to figure out a clue or moment that indicated Kuroo didn't have good intentions. He saw the way your mood had changed, you weren't paying attention to the details the girl was telling you.
"How do we know you guys are telling the truth?" Akaashi questioned.
"I was one of the girls who he played with..." the brown haired girl spoke "That's when I met Inko that she also got played by one of the guys from Kuroo's group."
"You seem like such a great person and everyone here likes and respects you." Inko said "We don't want you to be part of his games like he did with us."
"Everyone sit down we have a long lab ahead of us!" your professor announced.
"Think about it what we told you please." she said then walked away with her other two friends.
You immediately sat down in your chair letting the half side of your hair cover your face. He sat down beside you and squeezed your shoulder gently in a supportive way.
"Alright class let's get into it." the professor began writing an equation on the baord. You were focused on it trying to stop your mind from wandering into a deep dark hole of thoughts.
"Do you need a minute?" Akaashi whispered to you.
"I-I'm fine..." you answered.
The double doors opened, on instinct you looked over your shoulder to see Kuroo along with his group of friends, making his way over to the stairs. As luck would have it he stopped at your seat. "Hey..." he whispered smiling warmingly at you.
"Hi..."you mumbled then turned back to your laptop.
Kuroo did not take the hint and took the empty seat behind you. He leaned forward and spoke softly "I got the date done we can put it on the project board today if you are free."
You gripped the pen in your hand hearing him talk so kindly to you. "The cafe that I picked up the food from is empty during the week." as sweet as his words sounded, it only pierced your heart even more. Your breathing became uneven while your eyes became glossy.
From the corner of your eyes you saw his group of friends whispering to one another, then pointed at you and laughed. It ticked it off. Every single rumor about him sounded so foreign. When someone spoke badly about him it made you mad, Kuroo was such a caring person you did not understand why people had to talk so badly about others... now everything made sense.
"Y/n?" The way your name sounded so angelic coming from him was the last straw for you. Turning around you turned to look at him with a straight face.
"How long did it take for me to fall for you?" You questioned in loud voice not caring about the professor or the people looking your way.
Kuroo noticed, his head looked both ways seeing all eyes were now on him and you. "W-what are you taking about?"
You kept the glare not being able to break it. "Are you really going to play dumb?" you stood up and he followed in suit. "Was I just a little bet or did you feel bad for me huh?"
"Y/n... what are you talking about?..." he carefully spoke "Because I have no clue what you are saying-"
"Oh you don't?" you chuckled dryly "I'm sorry I forgot people like you don't give a rats ass about anyone but themselves!"
"You have no right to offend me like that!-"
"-No I think I do." you crossed your arms in front of your chest. "I chose to ignore the gossip that surrounded you. I chose to believe that you weren't that type of person, people kept talking about. I thought those days we spend together was the real version I was getting from you." you blinked away the tears. "But I was stupid for thinking I could see the good in you-"
He interrupted you, "-but that was the real me."
"If it had been the real you then you would have come clean about what you did!" you exclaimed.
Kuroo ran his fingers through his hair, "I made a mistake... I really am sorry, y/n..."
Shaking your head you bit your lip but it did nothing to stop the tears. "You don't get to feel sorry when you knew what you were doing was wrong..."
"I admit... I did put your name in the group chat and we started to talk about you." He acknowledged "It was supposed to be short until we finished our project to see if I could make you fall for me."
"Because you saw me as weak huh?" you joked "To see how long does the lonely and desperate girl falls for the popular volleyball captain." He stood quiet giving you the answer that you needed. "I knew it."
"It was at first but then we started to talk and we got to know each other better as we met up." he explained, "Then... that night at the library we ended up talking longer that usual. I never thought I would confess all these self deprecating thought I had to someone I barely knew. I realized that I was starting to like you, y/n. I fell bad knowing that it started out as a bet then I started thinking about you and thinking about the date we were going to go to... I couldn't do that to you... not to someone who deserves better than being played by me."
"Was that also a lie?" you said getting closer. "Were those actually your hopes, dreams... that you shared with me? Or are those the things you say to every girl you decide to mess with?"
His eyes turned glossy, "I promise you it's not." he pleaded "Believe me when I know I fucked up but I like you... in ways I can't explain myself. I never joked about those private moments..."
Your heart was breaking, the tears became uncontrollable. You didn't know if to listen to your heart or your head.
"I'm sorry..." he said.
"For what?"
"For everything for playing with you and not realizing how stupid I was." he answered.
It wasn't enough. "If you truly care about someone you don't hurt them." you stated "You do not go around playing with people's feelings and making bets to embarrass another person. You respect them! You show them that you care!" you yelled "But people like you don't give a crap about that!"
"Y/n... please forgive me..."
"I do not have anything to forgive." you said "I do not need to accept your apology or acknowledge your feelings. No matter if we had been together it was going to be a losing game with you." you looked at him so much disgust and he felt it, he could see it in your eyes that he lost something so precious. "I wished you had never spoken to me... maybe then I could have saved myself the illusion that not everyone was a bad person. But thank you for proving to me that there's people like you in this world."
"You can insult me all you want y/n but you can't tell me that you do not feel anything for me."
"I don't." You sadly chuckled "Whatever I thought I did got destroyed away by your lies."
Swallowing down, Kuroo brought wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you close to his chest. He leaned down and pressed his lips against yours. It took everything within you to not kiss him back even if your heart was begging you to give in.
Akaashi then pulled you away and threw a fist at him. He punched him hard in the face making Kuroo stagger back from the impact.
"Don't you ever lay a hand on her again." He threatened, "Do you hear me?!" Your best friend pulled you close to him in a protective way.
Kuroo's friends went over to his side immediately. "Are you okay?" a short one spoke. He nodded and stood back up straight glaring at Akaashi. "You shouldn't have done that... you may be Bokuto's best friend but I won't hesitate in putting you in your place." he smiled and wiped away the blood from his face.
"I won't hold back either just give me a reason and you'll see." he sneered.
You felt a fire if irritation hearing his menacing words. "You're not doing anything to anyone Kuroo. And I'm telling you right now." you looked him in the eyes "I do not want to see you or hear anything from you ever again. There's nothing I need to talk with you."
"Y/n... we still have the project..."
"You have hands and a laptop don't you? I'll email you what we have but that's as far as I will go because I do not want to have to fail this project due to the lack of respect you have for people."
Kuroo bit his lip trying to hold back his tears "I deserve that..."
"Leave... there's no reason for you to be here."
He nodded and held his jaw in his hand feeling the pain starting to appear. His friends walked after him, as he got to the top of the stares he stopped to look at you. He was aching but it was late for him to do anything. Akaashi stared at him as he walked away his hand in a fist.
"Y/n do you need to go?" the professor spoke.
You wiped away off the tears that had dried on your cheeks. "No... let's continue with the lab please."
The professor nodded and got back to writing on the board. On instinct you and Akaashi held hands as a way of him saying 'I'm here' and it was the best thing you needed at the moment. Akaashi was the only person you needed in your life, never have you felt so thankful to have him by your side.

โœŽ ๐‘๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ:
You can request any character you'd like. However please keep in mind I am currently able to write better for Kuroo, Bokuto, Akaashi, Tsukishima, and Daichi. I will however write for whatever character you choose and will try my best to deliver it good.
I do not do any smut or any other type of requests that make me feel uncomfortable. If it's a serious one dealing with mental health, abuse, etc. I am not an expert on those subjects and would rather not go into them in case I write anything wrong or that is not a real portrayal or behavior. I do not want to offend anyone or mislead an issue. I currently am writing only angst but am working on trying to write more fluff.
There are currently two dialogue lists you can choose from. These are option A & B. You can only choose three dialogues at the moment so please make sure to think about it.
After you have gone through the lists and chosen which numbers then you may submit your request in the ask box.
If your request is done please give feedback not only will it help me but also for my work to get noticed!
โœŽ ๐๐š๐ฒ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ:
Once I have seen your ask I will make sure to message you about it to double check and confirm you still want to proceed with it.
If you say yes I will ask for the payment so I can begin working on your request!
However if I have many to do I will let you know when I start to work on your request. I will only ask for payment when I start to work on your character! I do not want to ask for an ahead payment even if you have sent a request in. This is to make sure that in case you change your mind it won't be a hassle.
If you do change your mind and you have paid please make sure to do it that same day so I won't keep writing it or if you don't I will use that work for a regular post instead. Yet please be considerate and cancel early that way it'll be better for the both of us.
I did stop writing for a while so I apologize if the writing isn't as perfect yet I will do my best to deliver the best you deserve.
ใŠ‚ Again you do NOT have to ask for a paid request depending on how this goes I will think of doing free requests in the future as well. This is only for a way to help my family out. You can read the current works I have in the meantime that I post new ones. Thank you again for your help and happy requesting!
โ‰› If you have any questions you can message me I'm online all the time. I will do my best to help! โ‰›
