I made myself a pair of ace pride earrings!
I used a barrel weave with 18g 5/32" rings in silver, purple, black and dark gray.
The beads are Dragon Vein Agate.

I have lived in Illinois for over 25 years and although this bird is quite common, this is my first time seeing one!!
My joy and excitement is off the charts right now! Check one for the birding bucket list - the Downy Woodpecker!
According to "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews:
When woodpecker comes into your life, it indicates that the foundation is there. It is now safe to follow your own rhythms.
This message couldn't have come at a better time. 🥰

This piece began with a literal dream - I had a dream that I was crocheting a Medusa plushie.
Of course, since I am currently not crocheting, I was unable to make the dream a reality. I did try to figure it out though...😂
Fast forward a month or so, I came across this amazing Medusa pendant and I had that bolt of lightning sensation hit me. I knew then, that I needed to make a chainmail piece with the pendant as the centerpiece.
This is the result! The weave is offset Byzantine using 2 sizes of 18 gauge rings. There are over 500 rings in this necklace so it was a true labor of love!
The camera just does not capture how dynamic this piece is in person. It is a statement piece for sure.

It has been awhile since I have posted anything as I have been dealing with a lot.
I finally had to admit to myself that crocheting plushies was taking too much of a toll on my physical health. Because of that, I had to make the difficult decision to no longer offer plushies for sale.
Fortunately, there is a silver lining to this story in that I have found a new passion - chainmail!
My Etsy shop is now MothWoven Maille and I am excited to start this new adventure. I can also be found on IG and Threads as mothwovenmaille.
I just finished up this Christmas themed charm bracelet and will be working on a Medusa necklace next!

You know when you are on a spiritual path and you think you have finally found your place, your calling, doing what you are meant to be doing? That feeling when you think you have things figured out, it is such a high isn’t it?
What happens when the trajectory of that path makes a complete 180 and you are left with your head spinning facing so many fears and doubts about everything?
The card in the picture, When Coyote Calls Your Name, is from Colette Baron-Reid’s Dream Weavers Oracle and it was the card I drew for my daily reading for today.
The beginning of September 2022, I had an encounter with the Greek God of Dreams - Morpheus. It was and still is a very profound moment for me but one I wasn’t ready for at the time (one I oftentimes still don’t feel ready for).
Fast forward to earlier this year, Morpheus showed up once again. This time Loki was present and insisted that I answer Morpheus’ call. To do so though would mean a complete change in the dynamic of all my divine relationships, including the one I have with Loki.
And so, I have been living the very essence of When Coyote Calls Your Name since. I have not handled it well and have been resisting at every step even though the experience I had with Morpheus is one that I have longed for and even wished for since I was a child.
Seeing the card today is another reminder that I am still clinging to what I had and not making way for what I need.
The guidebook says “When Coyote Calls Your Name, you will know that this was the best way for you after all. Your life is woven true, and new threads of your experience sparkle. There really was no loss or disappointment at all - only a new, meaningful adventure and a beautiful story to tell.”
The universe knows the truth of my heart, I know the truth of my heart and now that Coyote calls my name, maybe, just maybe I will finally be able to listen and see what dreams await me on this new adventure.
Hail Morpheus, God of Dreams! I praise and honor you! Where you lead, I shall follow. May my dreams be ever safe in your care.

I cannot believe I have to say this but you HAVE to learn about plants on a scientific level if you use herbs in spell crafting. It’s for SAFETY reasons. You CANNOT BURN CERTAIN HERBS and you cannot touch or consume certain herbs. You NEED to know this for every herb you use- it’s not a pick and choose thing you guys it’s SAFETY. ESPECIALLY to my chronically ill witches and practitioners like myself.
Please stop throwing herbs into a fire bc you saw some tiktok witch do it. PLEASE.

For those of you that crochet, here is the chart I designed for my filet crochet altar cloth.
The yarn I used was YarnArt Flowers Moonlight and I used a 2.75 mm hook.
The set up row if you are making this as a filet crochet piece is:
Ch 159, dc in 9th Ch from hook, *ch2, sk 2, dc in next to end of row. Ch3, turn.
You then work the chart beginning at Row 2. Each solid square is 2 dc in the ch2 sp, dc in next (or dc in next 3 dc) and each open square is ch2, dc in next dc (or ch2, sk 2, dc in next dc).
To start each row, rather than using a ch5, I did a stacked sc, ch2.
This chart can also be adapted for color work, corner to corner or even cross stitch. Please feel free to use it however you like just credit the pattern back to The Flyting Fox. 😊

This is my Loki inspired filet crochet altar cloth that I recently finished. This is my own design. I used Yarn Art Flowers Moonlight in color 3284 which is a cotton metallic blend so it sparkles when the light hits it. I wanted it to look like it had some age to it and I think it turned out quite well.

One of the most common things I see online is people attributing the bad things in their lives to the gods.
I mean I get it, there is definitely a level of uncertainty to our worship and devotion and it is only natural to wonder if we did something to upset them.
You start the day with a migraine, then get mauled by your cat that got stuck in the gate that was supposed to keep the puppy downstairs, then the car breaks down, the dishwasher stops working, the toilet overflows, etc. To top it off, it all seems to happen on the same freaking day and you wonder what you did to deserve it.
Sometimes shit just happens though. Life is random, messy and chaotic. The gods will certainly test us but they will never put something in front of us that we cannot handle.
A healthy devotional relationship with the gods will never cause us harm and we are not being punished for our mistakes. Our mistakes are what teach us and how we learn.
Sometimes the cat is just dumb, the appliances are old and the kids used too much toilet paper. In those moments, all we can do is laugh at the absurdity and remember that this too shall pass.
Life is an ebb and flow of ups and downs. The path is never linear, it is full of twists and turns that will teach us so many lessons if we just pause for a moment, take a deep breath and listen.

I absolutely love photographing nature and got this awesome shot of a grackle about to take flight. I used the Silvered filter in PS Express app to create this look and love how it turned out! I think I need to make a print out of this for my wall!

I have been struggling lately. Chronic health issues and new health issues have made it challenging for me to do anything. Even trying to write this post is rather difficult for me.
So, what do we do when our health takes away from our practice?
I would like to say that there is a clear cut answer to this question but life is messy and nothing is ever as clear as we want it.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is nothing at all. This may seem like the wrong answer to a lot of people but the way I see it - the gods understand that we are human and would not demand more of us than we can give.
Chapter 48 of Stephen Mitchell's translation of the Tao Te Ching reads:
“When nothing is done, nothing is left undone. True mastery can be gained by letting things go their own way.”
So, if we need to rest, we rest. If we need to sleep, we sleep. If we need time and space to ourselves, we can take all the time we need. They will always wait for us, they will meet us where we are right now.
Sometimes the greatest offering we can make is to take care of ourselves and love ourselves as the gods do.
