Disclaimer that I didn't see it with the original cast, but tbh, having seen the West End production, the Cabaret reviews on Broadway do not surprise me
Honestly, cooking and baking stuff from scratch is so satisfying. Is it better/healthier/cheaper than supermarket label stuff like so many people claim? Meh, probably not. But like eating a slice of freshly baked bread with some jam, that you made? Heaven.
Capela dos Ossos | Chapel of Bones (Évora, Portugal)
The Chapel of Bones is one of the best-known monuments in Évora, Portugal, located next to the entrance of the Church of St. Francis. It gets its name because the interior walls are covered and decorated with human skulls and bones from the tombs of the convent church and other churches and cemeteries in the city (around 5000 skulls). The white brick dome is painted with motifs that symbolize or allude to death. In addition to the bones, it is also decorated with religious statues and Renaissance and Baroque paintings.
The chapel was built in the 17th century by three Franciscan friars whose aim was to convey the message of the transience and fragility of human life. This message is clearly conveyed right at the entrance, through the notice: «Nós ossos que aqui estamos, pelos vossos esperamos» (We bones that are here, for yours we wait). The chapel is a monument of penitential architecture, dedicated to Our Lord of the Stations or Steps of the Cross, an image known to the locals as Lord Jesus of the bone-house. This image impressively and vividly represents the suffering of Christ on his way to Calvary with the cross on his back.
