Is it like a flirt with the two and then all three mutually agreeing to get into a relationship? Or flirt with two, get with one, and then decide to add the third?

jealousy - part of the reconfiguring of the update is going to be working out lock-ins. on the one hand, it would definitely be much easier to code if the lock-in were relatively early, as is evident in other prominent games and if it happened at the same time. however, the pace of the different relationships would need to be factored in - in the above scenario, “locking in” on lorcan’s route would look very different to robin’s route, for example, in a way that might feel jarring. in principle, though, flirting with other characters when you have a significant number of romance “points” (probably ca. 5) would have some kind of a reaction for some characters - robin/gray/grace would have the most visible reactions if they were present.

polys - really depends on which mechanic i choose for the lock-ins. the current polys are designed as triads, with all three parties invested in each other. there may be potential for an open relationship with some of the characters, but that’s something that i would need to think carefully about before implementing, for narrative and coding reasons.

Hello, I wanted to ask you a question, which RO/s is/are a slow-burn?

depends? they all have their own flavours - i would say that emotionally, lorcan will resist opening up to the mc for a long time; derya would also be more cautious but they’re not necessarily against a relationship; grace and anthony have a lot of pining; mc isn’t able to physically meet the other. robin, gray and lorelei are a little more “straightforward”, but they have their own particular factors which will become clear.

lorcan: takes matters into his own hands and doesn’t act any differently. it’s happened relatively frequently before mc’s arrival, and he pointedly ignores even the possibility that it might develop into something else

robin: would be a little confused? but ultimately would shake it off - they’re a little more aware that their dreams are just that.

grace: almost shaken by it - it’s not that it’s never happened, she’s had crushes before, but it happens very rarely

lorelei: a welcome distraction - they would understand that more than anything more “tender”

anthony: an unwelcome distraction - he aims and intends to stay professional and calm around everyone, since he knows the consequences of displaying his heart–or anything–too freely, but it would make it challenging

derya: takes matters into their own hands and is troubled by it - they have built a life and do not want to risk anything because of another person again.the other: if their dreams bleed into mc’s, the results are more likely to be. like lightly spicy but mostly wholesome. lots of holding hands and entangled limbs.

ROs reactions to MC making bedroom eyes at them from across a room full of other people?

lorcan: you’re leaving the room right tf now, it’s not subtle

robin: smiles but ultimately they have a reputation to maintain - they can’t afford to not care in the way that lorcan can

grace: would be flustered, definitely distracted from whatever conversation she’s having - but ultimately she would stay put, she wants to maintain her reputation, she’s put a lot of effort into building it

lorelei: wouldn’t tend to be in a crowded environment (the body heat in the room would be overwhelming, and they don’t want to reveal themself); but hypothetically it would be a very similar response to lorcan

anthony: critical failure, leaves independently (wouldn’t be averse to mc following after him)

derya: would be ultimately amused - enjoys the attention but doesn't necessarily rush themselves. if their partner really wants them, they're willing to wait.

the other: a little bit of a different scenario, but if mc’s thoughts were to wander among other people, they would absolutely enable it - literally present an entire scene to distract mc, so cinematic that it seems almost real

How would the ROs react to a fake-out make-out situation?

lorcan: in his element, definitely plays up to the scenario but would be a little dismissive afterwards to maintain boundaries (depending on what stage this happens in, he may act a little more defensively or in a hostile manner - he’s actively trying to avoid getting feelings for someone)

robin: very sensitive, checks in with mc to make sure they’re alright with it - very gentle, very romantic, and they’re very gentle with mc afterwards - would be the most likely to want to talk to mc about it afterwards.

gray: it’s very awkward and they’d only accept if there was genuinely no other option. their lips are soft but that’s about it - very firm kiss, hands grasping mc’s clothes, as quick as possible. would definitely avoid mc afterwards - if they’re in a crushing situation, they might be more likely to write mc a note apologising for their actions.

grace: very stiff and wooden at first, sinks into the moment after a few seconds; very flushed afterwards, obviously stares at mc throughout the rest of the “day”, to the point where she will miss entire conversations.

lorelei: gets very into it, tongue and teeth, and will be very put-out at the thought of having to continue the rest of the “mission”

anthony: gentle, sensual, enjoys the moment - but then is immediately awkward afterwards.

derya: wouldn’t do it - they’d kind of position themselves to insinuate that it’s happening? but they wouldn’t want to engage with something like this. they’re always very intentional when romancing someone, and they wouldn’t want their probable first kiss with someone to be under false pretences.

so! the project is not dead, i just have to contend with: family stuff; work stuff; failing technology; adhd; finetuning the direction i want the story to take and some of the coding mechanics of that; the fact that twine won’t redownload to my computer (see above: failing technology).

and chief among these is that the current demo will most likely need to be edited/reworked - it’s been a while! and part of that is that i want to make sure the coding is tightened and streamlined; part of that is that i want derya to be introduced in the lisboa update, even if it’s only in one variation, rather than holding off until later - they are there for reasons that will become clear later; and part of it is also just that my writing has changed! or, at least, it feels like it’s changed. so while i was definitely happy with what i put out at the time, i need to make sure that i’m giving my best as it currently is.
