This is the recipe I made for today's lunch. It was a home run. We'll make a few adjustments next time, like using diced tomatoes instead of whole ones, but it's going into our permanent rotation. (My dearest even liked this more than another tagine recipe in our "keep" pile.) Moments like this are the reason I came back to learning to cook.

The thing I want to remember today is my right to imperfection. I got a Dr Who coloring book from Amazon. This is my third copy; I have a bad habit of tossing books out when I don't color something to my own standards. I'm not going to let myself do that anymore. It's coloring, for goodness sake. There is no "right". It's just for me, and my own growth.
I would also like to get back to writing poetry. I find that easier than fiction. Someday, I will let someone else read them.

Today, I attempted to make a vegan tikka masala dish in my slow cooker. Verdict from my family: it doesn’t taste like a tikka masala, but they want me to keep it anyway. I call that a win. Must do a little research on how to make a proper cashew cream. I’ve tried that on two different recipes, counting this one, and neither has come out right. Based on current results, I’m not sure it’s worth bothering with. Maybe just a hipster affectation? (Shrugs.)
