I think the words "Dabi suffered a lot of pain and abuse and it's unfair to expect him to just let it go and forgive Enji and he has every right to his hatred" and "Dabi killed and hurt a lot of innocent people, including Shoto and he has to face the consequences of his actions and the other todorokis and his victims aren't obligated to take him back or forgive him" can and should coexist.

YES. I don't like when people erase the complexity of his situation or the deepness of his character. There's an ending when you can both force Dabi to face the consequences of his actions and help him heal his trauma and pain. You don't have to do one or the other, it can be both.

Atonement. Redemption. Forgiveness. All those are different concepts that can exist together but doesn't have to. I think a lot of the discussion if Dabi gets lost on the semantics. But it doesn't matter what particular mix you choose, if you indeed want to study his character as he is in the canon, you must acknowledge both statements you pointed put.

Monoma probably has great time management skills. First, he has to time how long he has possession of a quirk and because now he can hold up to four (I believe four) quirks, no doubt he learned how to go back and forth with them while keeping up with the time.

That merges into his everyday life. He manages to get chores out the way, probably is a damn good cooker because he can calculate what ingredient needs to be handled first and all that, and he is never late to something unless it's something serious.

I think Midoriya and Monoma would have very interesting conversations, especially about quirks.

Midoriya analyzes quirks and Monoma copies them. Midoriya would definitely give him pointers, go into rambles and Monoma would listen because he's interested and he's learning. Both of them have a habit of talking miles per minute.

I keep forgetting to post about this all the while it’s only become less and less likely to mean anything in canon… but can we talk for a second anyways on how Monoma’s the only person on the battlefield right now who actually knows the reason Deku’s black whip awakened in the first place, the reason for Deku losing control for the first time during the Joint Training arc was because of Bakugo?

Remember how even when All Might and Bakugo asked what triggered blackwhip Deku was like “I dunno,” y’know, like a liar?

The only people in the manga who know specifically what Monoma said to trigger black whip, is, well, Monoma himself, plus probably Shinsou. Almost certainly Shinsou actually.

It’s even strongly implied it was Shinsou’s idea for Monoma to mock Bakugo specifically. He was shown evesdropping on their friendly banter, no doubt for strategic purposes.

Shinsou knew he got Deku to talk by mocking his friends before, during the Joint Training arc he’s observing for specific friends to target.

I dunno I just find it oddly funny how Monoma of all people is one of only two people to know this particularly dramatic clue that Bakugo is literally Midoriya’s berserk button.

Heckin Monoma, why is this so oddly funny. Shinsou too, this is such a neat setup. Even for a platonic reading of BakuDeku, putting Monoma in this situation is just so bizzarely funny to me, like, I was honestly expecting Monoma to get a flashback of the Joint Training arc when Deku lost it in the recent arc over thinking Bakugo died… but okay, to be fair, perhaps Monoma hadn’t had enough reason to connect the dots quite yet. But maybe now he does? 🤔

Eh, or maybe I’m overanalyzing things.

With all the debate about what Shirakurogiri is actually saying in the translations and who he’s really trying to call out to, I think the best solution is to do exactly what the French translations had done and make it CONFUSING.

The whole point of his mini scene within Shigaraki’s rebellion is to show that he’s having a breakdown of his own between the two sides of his identity: Kurogiri and Shirakumo. This is why, like Rukasu on twitter pointed out (yeah that’s right, I’m citing my sources) the sizing of the katakana changes and he’s switching back and forth between katakana and hiragana. Is he saying “Tomura Sh… Sh… (t)O(mur)AAH” or is he saying “Sh.. Sh.. (Sh)O(t)AAH” and switching between Shota and Tomura? We don’t know! Shirakurogiri doesn’t know either! Hence, I think the official English translation of “Shi… Shi…” which heavily implied he’s trying to say Shigaraki was a very questionable move, because where in the world did they get the letter ‘i’? And I think the French translation’s decision to keep it up to interpretation was the best one they could’ve possibly made. However, with that said, I’d like to inform everyone that MY interpretation is that he’s OBVIOUSLY TRYING TO SAY SHOTA’S NAME AND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS ERASERCLOUD FRIENDSHIP’S BIGGEST ANTI.
