AU Rhaenys and Daenerys! Talking about who they get to dance with at the Tourney of Winterfell in honor of Jon’s legitimization. They have their eyes already set on Jon and Robb, they just have to decide who gets who.

Wanted to spend more time designing the outfits but this was supposed to be quick! Still, I ended up with the idea of contrast between them between gold and silver, sun and moon. While Daenerys dresses in more Targaryen colors of dark wines and blacks with softer touches of pink, Rhaenys favors Dornish colors and gold and polished leather accents, but using more Targaryen styles. TBH I now just wanna do a whole series out outfits for them cause fashion.

As a young boy, the Prince of Dragonstone was bookish to a fault. He was reading so early that men said Queen Rhaella must have swallowed some books and a candle whilst he was in her womb.

He would go there from time to time, with only his harp for company. Even the knights of the Kingsguard did not attend him there. He liked to sleep in the ruined hall, beneath the moon and stars, and whenever he came back he would bring a song. When you heard him play his high harp with the silver strings and sing of twilights and tears and the death of kings, you could not but feel that he was singing of himself and those he loved.

Dany and Jon parallels: the first thing they do after successfully commanding the Battle near Yunkai and the Battle for the gate is asking about their soldiers’ well-being.

The tent flap pushed open, and Ser Jorah Mormont entered. He was dusty, and spattered with blood, but otherwise none the worse for battle. The exile knight went to one knee before Dany and said, “Your Grace, I bring you victory. The Stormcrows turned their cloaks, the slaves broke, and the Second Sons were too drunk to fight, just as you said. Two hundred dead, Yunkai'i for the most part. Their slaves threw down their spears and ran, and their sellswords yielded. We have several thousand captives.”

“Our own losses?”

“A dozen. If that many.”

Only then did she allow herself to smile.

Then suddenly the mammoths were fleeing, running from the smoke and flames and smashing into those behind them in their terror. Daenerys was born while a great storm raged above Dragonstone, sinking what remained of the Targaryen fleet; for this reason she is sometimes known as “Daenerys Stormborn.” Her mother, Queen Rhaella, died in labour.

DAENERYS TARGARYEN’S OUTFITS IN A STORM OF SWORDS

Last September, I commissioned the amazingly talented @ilrex to draw fanart of every single Dany outfit that’s described in the books. I can’t thank them enough for accepting my request, for making me so happy and excited whenever I received updates of their progress, for finishing such a huge project, for giving me such diverse options to use as my tumblr icon (lol), for greatly enriching my (re)reading experience of Dany’s chapters and for surpassing all my expectations with their gorgeous style and attention to detail. Ilrex deserves all the praise for their depiction of these outfits, which will be posted per book on different days.

So here are Dany’s outfits in A Storm of Swords, along with the book descriptions (a few of them were skipped for being too repetitive and/or vague) that ilrex had in mind in order to draw her costumes:

She had chosen a Qartheen gown today. The deep violet silk brought out the purple of her eyes. The cut of it bared her left breast. (ASOS, Daenerys III)

Today she rode her silver, clad in horsehair pants and painted leather vest, a bronze medallion belt about her waist and two more crossed between her breasts.
