"Cassandra" Lily took off her hood and lowered the gun. "Listen. I am not going to hurt you. I need your help and then i'll leave you alone-- just don't do anything stupid and we'll both walk out of here alive and well" the redhead put the safety on her gun and tugged it into her jeans. She took off the hoodie, revealing a blood stained shirt. Looking closely, her face was pale, her arms scaved and bruises covered her body. She did not care about the pain of the wounds that covered her body, but the stab wound she had needed some attention.
"I promise you I know fifty ways to murder you before you reach the door" she stated calmly when she caught the other looking past her. "And that wouldn't be good for either of us. I just want to take care of my wounds and leave. Threatening people does not bring me joy, I just want to live" Lily killed people for a living, yes, but she never strayed from her contracts, she didn’t kill people for the hell of it and she surely didn’t threaten them unless she absolutely needed to. Cassie had done nothing but be a upstanding citizen. “Do you have a first aid kit around here somewhere?” She asked, feeling dizzy. She would have tried all of this the nice way if she wasn’t so full of distrust. The cops added to this problem was the last she could use. She just hoped that sharing her intentions provided at least form of comfort to the woman in front of her. She didn’t look like someone that was being erratic or impulsive, but more like someone that knew exactly what she wanted and needed. “And some alcohol, please” She started feeling significantly worse, trying to stay present.

“Don’t thank us yet, you might get tired of your newly found family” Luke joked. They were quite something, especially when they were all together. Their dynamic was different. Hierarchy was not just something that leaned on respect, it was an energy that had a clear and strong effect on other wolves’ actions. There was a mental hold and connection between everyone, and enhanced emotions did not quite make it easier. Some were more sensitive to one’s energy than others’. It was nothing like the reality Cassie was used to. Cory would change, her stance to other’s would be different and as an outsider, it was something to get used to. However, they were all a family, incredibly tight, humans and wolves alike. “You should join our campfire tonight, i’m sure you’ll enjoy it.” He stated, then glanced over at Hayley. The look in her eyes changed, but he spoke before she could do or say anything. “And Hayley would really like for you to come”
She wished she could wipe that cocky expression from his face as he looked at her, then at Cass and slowly stepped backwards. Luke was blatantly aware of Hayley’s feelings towards Cassie, hell, any wolf within a mile could sense it. That was the downside of sharing such a connection, there was no way of hiding how you felt, no matter how badly you wanted to. “Don’t mind him” Hayley spoke, eyes watching the figure step back as he added a quick ‘see you there’ before he disappeared back to the wooden hut, the other wolves following him. `But yeah, it would be cool if you stuck around`

Adriena nodded into Meredith’s direction, her mind working the situation as Jean focused on Logan. When she realized everyone was either distracted or focused on the conversation, she slammed back her drink and moved up, making her way to Meredith and taking her hand.”We’re going to get another drink” She said, without getting much of a reaction. Max briefly glanced over at them, but then shifted his attention back to Adam, leaving Jean and Logan mostly in a back and forth conversation about the detective’s career. Instead of dragging Meredith to the bar, she took the detective to the bathroom. When the woman from that was washing her hands as they came in had left, she guided her girlfriend against the row of sinks, her left hand leaning on the edge of it and her right hand resting on Meredith’s waist. “You know you’re the only one for me, right?” She was usually not about making assumptions, but made an exception this time. If she was wrong, this was just extra reassurance. “Are you feeling okay?”
Tumblr media
It was easy to forget that Adriena, like everyone at this table, used to be a rookie. Max was there when she first joined the police force, green as they could get. She was clumsy and awkward, her people skills the absolute worst. She didn't get along with anyone, not with Max, not with Jean and most certainly not with Angela. She was almost kicked out off the academy for it; working with people being one of the most important aspects of the job. Adriena didn't get there on talent and her personality did not encourage anyone to cut her some slack. She got there on determination and hard work, dedicating all hours of her day to grow her skills or as a person in general. Jean and Adriena had to get into trouble together before they turned to each other. Jean was her first friend in the police force, even though many people wrongly assumed it to be Max.
Tara sat on the other side of Logan, her hand resting on the detective's lap. She was always looking for some form of physical contact when Logan was in the room, especially now that she could. She listened to Jean's story with a light smile, enjoying hearing all these experiences they had as a police officer. Her and Joanna had a fair share of those themselves and hopefully, there were many more to come. She missed working with her best friend, especially at moments like these when two partners vibed so well. On their end, everything seemed tense. Devin and Chris were acting more like a married couple as of late. Adam was... Well Adam, which Joanna absolutely could not stand. And then she was partnered with this superficial dude that Tara, on her end, didn't like. That might be a bit fueled by jealousy, though.
Max looked up at the mention of Kathy. He never realized that the two of them were connected, until Jean mentioned just now that she was trained by her. Adriena also looked up, this time her gaze on Meredith. Despite being too late to see that smile fall, she did notice the tension in Meredith's expression. And it wasn't just her that noticed, Jean did as well. "She was great" Jean said softly. "I know it sounds cliché, but i'm sure if she saw you now, she'd be proud" The woman said, initially having intended to say and ask more, but she was perceptive enough to see that bringing this subject up might not have been the best move.
Adriena gave Meredith a warm look, wanting to cross the table to comfort her in some way, but knowing all well that this wasn't the time. She would not ruin Mer's façade by being the loving girlfriend. "Good evening everyone, mind if I join?" Adam had walked up to them and greeted the group with a charming smile; a smile Adriena was absolutely allergic to. "Actually Adam, yes. Go sit with someone else" She returned his smile with one of her own. Adriena was well aware he was trying to make it into her team and she was making sure it wasn't coming to him easy. He took it like a champ, simply shrugged and turned to walk away, which was when Tara squeezed Logan's leg and got up on her feet. "I will be back" She muttered awkwardly, taking a short sprint to catch up with Adam. "Man, I hate that guy" Max stated, a frown following on his face when he saw this strange interaction between Adam and Tara. She punched his shoulder to get his attention and now they were both smiling. Last time he checked, the two of them did not get along and he wasn’t sure if he liked this change. @mollysmythtymsyllom

For the past few weeks, Tina had been talking Adam up. It was clear that she was vetting him to be in her team. Up until now, Adam had seemed like he was simply trying to make detective using the quickest route, but hearing him speak created an entirely different idea about him. Even Adriena was surprised to hear what he had to say and the way he’d gone about it. There hadn’t been a bone in her body that wanted to get him into her team, convinced he would ruin their dynamic, but maybe she was wrong about him. Now though, she no longer had a team-- so it didn’t matter. None of it mattered.
Tumblr media
Feeling Meredith’s lips touch hers made her relax a little bit. Her hand curled around the fabric of the detective’s shirt, keeping her close. She wasn’t in a good place, but Meredith kept her from completely spiralling. “I love you” She whispered, even though Meredith was looking the other way to signal Jo. “I know a place we can go to, the all of us.” An entirely different scene to the one they were at now, but a place they could all just be together and have a chill night out.
Lucy slowly released Max when she was sure he wouldn’t lose his sihit. Angela joined their side and the forensic analyst backed away to wait  up with Joanna, figuring she shouldn’t have to wait for Logan and Tara alone. Part of her wondered if all of that didn’t feel weird, knowing that Joanna and Tara were the power couple of the precinct when she started working there. She was about to turn around when she saw a tall figure pass and take her place next to Joanna at the bar. She smiled, turned to Max and Angela and followed them outside instead. “So--- where are we going?”
“If you’re ever in need of any allies, engine 21 is happy to pledge their allegience” The tall brunette sat down at the bar besides the police officer, asking the bartender to serve Joanna a drink. Tina and her had had a tiny falling out-- which was quite something, since homicide rarely crossed paths with her team. They usually only dealt with police officers, which is why Charlie knew Tara and Joanna.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had been two weeks, since Adriena and Meredith’s relationship had been brought to the attention of the chief thanks to an anonymous tip. Two weeks, since Detective Adriena Anderson had been given the ultimatum to either break up with Meredith, or transfer Meredith from Alpha. Two Weeks, since Adriena, in frustration had made herself a third option and quit her job as the lead Detective of the Alpha Team in station seventeen’s homicide department.
A lot had changed for the A Team in those two weeks, most relevant of which, was the new leadership. Everyone on the team assumed that the chief would promote Max into the role of lead Detective, instead, she had moved up the lead of the station’s Beta team, Tina Jackson, and moved Max out of Alpha to run Beta. Angela was given Logan as her partner, and Meredith was benched. Everything had been turned upside down, and the team was working hard to do their best with the cards they had been dealt. @thelightxwithin
It didn’t take long for Angela and Logan to notice that Tina seemed to have her eye on Meredith. Maybe three days into them working under Tina, the flirting had started. Meredith was put in a weird position, where she couldn’t do much about it, because Tina was her boss now. When she ignored Detective Jackson’s advances, she would be stuck in the office with paperwork, when she was polite to the new leader, she was given actual detective work to do. None of them felt like they could go to the chief, because they were afraid that Meredith would be blamed again. It seemed that the new chief had some sort of bone to pick with Meredith. Joanna’s theory was that the new chief had been a rival to Meredith’s mother.
Adriena knew about Tina’s advances, because Meredith, and the rest of the team told her. Meredith had assured her that there was nothing going on, and that she was in no way interested in the new team lead, and she was pretty sure that Adriena believed and trusted her.
Alpha was between cases, and a small group of officers from the station were planning a night out. Joanna and Tara invited the old A team, Adriena included, but somehow, the little get together had become a much bigger event. Almost the whole station was there that night, and from the looks of it, Detective Jackson had been drinking more than she could handle.
Logan and Tara had disappeared, twenty or so minutes ago, probably off making out somewhere, (they did that a lot now), Angela was outside, and on the phone with her girlfriend, who was calling from Dubai. Max was on the dance floor with Felix and Lucy, Meredith was at a table with Joanna, Danielle and Devin, Adriena had just left the table to go get a refill for her and Jo.
Meredith didn’t see the beginning of the altercation between Adriena and Tina. She turned when Devin pointed it out, and by the time she was looking that way, Max was standing between the two older women. Adriena had fire behind her eyes, and Tina was wearing a smug, drunken smile. “Okay, I swear to god if you do not stop praying on my girlfriend,” Adriena was saying as she took a step forward closer to Max’s outstretched hand. “Are you threatening me, Detective Ander-- oh wait, it’s just Adriena now, isn’t it?”
Both Meredith and Joanna got up and started their way toward the interaction. Jo, joined Max between the two women, and Meredith placed her hand on Adriena’s arm. “Hey, she’s not worth it, come on, come back to the table.”

“Next time you dream about me, tell me” Tara muttered against the other’s lips. She was incredibly sensitive to the sounds Joanna made, her body visibly responding to the soft whine that escaped when she put her hands on the other police officer. By the time Joanna commanded her to kiss her, she no longer had a choice but to obey. She’d do anything this woman asked of her. Her tongue playfully touched Joanna’s lips before her own lips did, smiling when she kissed the blonde and used it as a distraction to lower her hand and push two fingers inside, her thumb taking over on teasing the woman’s clit. It was good their lips were locked together, muffling Tara´s moan and preventing her from making too much noise.

Despite appreciating Logan’s efforts, Chris had retreated behind the large walls guarding her emotions. “I think I might go home, my shift was over anyway. And I have to be up early tomorrow” The police officer rubbed the back of her neck, glancing over at the detetive. “Thanks, though, that’s very kind of you. I’d just like to forget about--- me emoting.” She chuckled, but there was not a single part of her that actually thought it was funny. She felt dumb for making a scene at her work. She fidgeted in her pocket, pulled up her key and tried to go over whether she left anything important inside. When she established it was nothing noteworthy, she held up her key. “Thank Tara for me?” Bitterness ran her voice. She was glad someone took care of Adam-- but of course it had to be her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Adam, you lost the right to talk to me. Leave me the fuck alone.” Chris stood up and turned on her heels to walk away from him. “Chris-- wait” Officer Young took a few steps into her direction, dumbfounded, and then awkwardly gazed sideways when he realized they had an audience.  @mollysmythtymsyllom

Tara had been so wrapped up in the whole valentine’s day shenenigans, that the moment Joanna mentioned Eddy’s -a place she hadn’t been to since the trapper killer- her heartbeat started rising out of her chest. She nodded on her ex’ words in an attempt to hide that this was all freaking her out, and smiled faintly through her anxiety. The truth was; she was scared. Every single time she looked at Joanna she was reminded of the biggest mistake she had made in her life. The distance that had resided between them from the moment Joanna had been kidnapped made her nauseous, especially because she knew, in all of it, she was the one to blame. She left her partner, before and after the kidnapping. She had been emotionally distant, even if she pretended not to be. And now she was this weird mix of jealous and guilty and anxious. Because on top of all of that, a part of her would always be in love with Joanna. And that didn’t mean she had any doubts about Logan, she loved Logan, but Joanna was her soulmate in some way.
“Alright” She wasn’t going to let emotions be in the way of their work this time; but she was aware that maybe.... they should talk, outside of work. “Jo?” Tara started, reaching for her keys on her desk. You really going to ask your ex-girlfriend to hang out with you on fucking valentine’s day? She sighed, maybe not the best idea. “You’re driving”

"Nah, someone else" Tara didn't really get into it much. Despite Logan being her girlfriend and trusting her completely, she wasn't automatically very talkative about her informants. It was a habit more so than a conscious decision, even if it involved minor crimes. Tara her social skills did not limit to cops at their precinct, she had earned respect on the streets she worked at and much of that had to do with her keeping her mouth shut about some things. She played for the greater good and wasn't a cop that got strung up on details.
Tumblr media
"Me? A crush on you" Tara snorted, pulling a face. "Gosh, falling for a co-worker, i'd never" she opened the door and got into the car, glancing over at Logan to read if the woman was fine with her driving.
"She's the new district attorney" Adam said, meaning she would have plenty of reason to step into the precinct. "But I don't know, maybe she is here to look at the beautiful blonde that runs the team Alpha" despite the fact that Adriena gave him literal chills, he could see that she was fucking stunning. Not his type, but still. "Or to annoy her little brother" he chuckled, quite sure Joanna hadn’t made the connection yet. Adam was typing in the meantime, turning his screen to an article about ‘the new district attorney’ written by someone at Human Daily. Max was in one of the pictures, in suit, shaking someone’s hand with Denise by his side. “This is golden. Y’all just sleep with each other, don’t you? Too busy working to have a social life, so mixing business and pleasure to get something out of it” Not that he could be a judge. As far as he knew, only Tara and Logan knew of his.. thing... with Chris.
Tumblr media
Adam sat back in his chair and eyed his computer screen with a slightly pained expression. Because he fired his service weapon there was more to the paperwork than usual and it was boring the hell out of him. Tara just walked over to his desk, complaining to him about a case when mid sentence, his gaze drifted past her. “What?” Tara muttered, turning around to catch a young woman passing by on the other end of the room. “oh-”
Multiple eyes followed the figure as she moved through their station. Felix, who as standing on the right end of the room, almost dropped his files when he saw her. “Detective Anderson” The woman caught the blonde standing at the copying machine and turned towards her. “It has been a while”
Tumblr media
Adriena glanced over at the woman and smiled. “Denise” She greeted, her tone particularly cheery. “It’s lovely to see you. I hear you’re coming to work with us” Denise nodded. “Yeah, I’ve actually come to talk to the Chief, do you have any idea where I can find her?” @mollysmythtymsyllom

It wasn’t hard to miss Joanna as she stood up, because despite the way it looked, Melina always had her eyes on the police officer. The club owner slept with a vast amount of people, oftentimes not giving them the time of day afterwards. Joanna, however, was a weakness she could not ignore. “Officer Johnson” She spoke, almost formally, a smile breaking through. She was tired, but only her eyes showed. As she reached the blonde, fingertips landed on the officer’s shoulder “Did you change your mind about sleeping with me?” She asked soft enough so only Joanna could hear. Her eyes locked on Joanna’s, until she felt eyes burning. She glanced over to catch the brunette sitting at a desk besides them peeking up over her paperwork to observe the two of them. She gave off some major ex-girlfriend vibes, but Melina decided not to give it any further attention for now. She knew how all of this looked;  a murder suspect with friends at the police station?  Funnily enough, she was familiar with a bunch of people in this room-- and it wasn’t just Joanna she knew that was working this case either.

It was very subtle, the tensed muscles in Joanna's jaw before she took a sip of her drink. Even if Chris had been looking, it was doubtful she would have noticed. Still peeling at the label, she listened to what Joanna said about Tara. It wasn't just a loving opinion from an ex-girlfriend, officer Lewis seemed to connect to most people. She was a bridge between departments and made everyone feel heard and welcome. She was the opposite of Chris, who was guarded and distant towards everyone, including her own partner.
Tumblr media
"You really wanna know?" She was well aware that Joanna and Adam did not mix. Unlike most people, she did not feel the need to change the other's opinion, or try and defend Adam. She knew how he could be. But Joanna asked so, she took a sip of her beer and continued talking. "I know he can seem like a jerk and you know, sometimes he is" something with an unnuanced way of expressing his opinion. "But he is actually really thoughtful and loyal." She shrugged her shoulders, not really able to get into detail about the things he had told her. She knew he was very selective about what he shared with people. "He is the kind of guy that talks positive behind your back, who’ll turn around and to protect people whether he knows them or not and although he communicates poorly, I sometimes feel like he does it on purpose” He’d been hard on Tara from the start, but when he mentioned her to Chris, he’d always been respectful about it. ‘If someone doesn’t push her she will never get back to the cop she was-- and from what i’ve heard she was a damn good one’ was one of the few things he’d mentioned. ‘I will be the asshole if that’s what this team needs’
“But whatever, he probably doesn´t feel the same way about me anyway. He made it clear this was just a friends with benefits thing” She leaned her head forward against her beer bottle. “fuck-- yeah no, that was mostly me” She chuckled and took a sip before looking at Joanna, briefly pausing. “Please don’t tell anyone-- I know I did a terrible job at it, but I like keeping my personal life and work seperate”

Mel rose an eyebrow, turning her head towards Joanna. "It didn't escape me" how could it? Her club, which was run 7 days a week, was going to be closed down because some asshole decided to murder some innocent girl. Her entire day, if not more, was going to involve dumb conversation in which she was sure she was going to have to repeat the same story over and over again until they'd believe her, which they probably wouldn't. Judging from the entire scene, she was quite sure the killer wasn't dumb enough to leave her security cameras as it was. "Humans with their principles though. She is already dead, which yes, is tragic. But how I spent my time after that is really not going to make a difference for her or her family" To mel, there was literally no reason to be uptight. She hated how they made up this huge social construct based on-- tradition and believes, not even on the consequences of behavior. Not that she was usually very conscious about the latter. "But fine, if you want me to be all dark and gloomy because someone died" she watched Chris and Devin stop in front of them. "I can do that too"
She stood up and then led them like she said she would. No drama, no attempts at running, just a quiet way out. She did steal someone's baseball cap on the way, but by the time she put that on her head the one she nicked it from was long gone. She had only smiled innocently. Back at the station, she simply leaned back in her chair and told the same story over and over again like she thought she would. She was speaking the truth, surely did not need a lawyer. She told them about her security cameras and about the ones her neighbour had aimed a little too high so it actually showed part of the street. She also knew some details about the victim's life, which she shared just because it might come in handy.

A lot could be said about Melina Morningstar; she was a narcissist, a self-centered asshole, an egomaniac and on top of it all, completely and utterly insane, but Ethan would forever be thankful that she entered his life. When he was up to his neck into shit, Melina dragged him out of that. She made sure him and his daughter were taken care of-- and where everyone judged his loyalty to her, he knew that there were layers to this woman that no one would ever understand. He never told her he was lonely, or that he needed more depth in his life. She didn’t ask about it. But she did know. And she made some very perceptive decisions when it came to Jamie and Ethan.
“Sounds like a plan” He stated, glancing up at that contagious smile of his boyfriend. Gosh-- he loved this guy.

From all the things Fire had been through, this wasn’t by far the weirdest. He was more concerned than usual because this involved Dannie; someone he was responsible for. He dragged her into this mess, he endangered her life and he just wanted to bring her back to the life she belonged to. He did not care whether she had the genetic markers of a healer, or whether she could wield magic; he just wanted her safe.
“I’m sorry I dragged you into this” Fire said, looking at her. Fuck her eyes were beautiful. “I just want to get you back to safety, to your own life” He spoke softly, hating that he was sensitive to energy, the tension between them could be felt all the way into his bones. He was so in love with her that it terrified him. It didn’t usually end well for the people he cared about..

Blatant question. But for some reason Shay had not expected any different from the personal trainer. She chuckled and turned to her side, also raising an eyebrow. “Do you really need to ask?” Still out of breath, Shay pushed herself up until she was sitting on her knees, a smile on her face. Her words had been quite straight to the point. She called Briar pretty and getting her ass kicked by her hot. Yes, of course she was flirting. “This is definitely not the first time I have been flirting with you either”

Eyes glanced up like a deer looking in headlights. She hadn’t expected company and when she realized it was Alex, she wished she hadn’t made such a scene. Sweat was dripping down her neck from all the running. Yeah, she had definitely been running from something. “Yeah-- yeah i’ll go. I’m done anyway” She kicked the second ball in the field into the goal and clenched her jaw. She knew better than to be defensive against Alex. The other was right about the game they were about to face. “What are you doing up here so late?”

“You” Morgan said impulsively. It was a joke that she would have liked to keep inside her mind, but it came out of her mouth so fast that it sounded like a serious answer for a second. Her eyes were large in regret, no idea how to come back from that. She chuckled awkwardly, then decided her only way through this was by owning what she had said. “No, but in all seriousness, I have no idea” She wished she could name something, but she did not care about the city much. She was here for Dannie. Platonically. Well maybe not. Fuck. “I’m sure you have some good recommendations?”
