Sick of this website and the bastards who run it.
But I do occasionally write and talk about games and animation. Also, plenty of conversations and posts about teratophilia.
I accidentally created a new character in my story because I needed the show the world was alive + a character ability. Then, another established character showed up at the end of the chapter and just said: "He's staying, thanks" when I had no plan for that no-name/one-off character... Now, he has a name, an appearance, a planned story and he's going to be the closest to an adopted child to my main character. The wonders of writing
Isn't that the most beautiful part of the writing process? Trying to come up with an element to fill a gap in your story just for said element to become a major pillar to the narrative...
I have been enjoying the memes that the movie bombed because of the target audience getting filtered by black théâtre employees. Then I got sad about box offices barely being a thing due to theaters having to operate on skeleton crews to scrape by
I remember hearing those same kinds of jokes and memes but eventually remembering 'Wait, most people buy tickets online so they can do their best to avoid sitting next to Karen and the three kids she dragged along with her just to have them on way-too-loud ipads the whole time'.
They who are in charge of recruitment in the name of Acrioziolana's golden god...
Here's the picture of The Capitol Empire of Porcelain Heavens of Gilded Skies, one of the new characters who will be appearing in Volume 2 of Speak Not to the Gilded Dragons.
And here's a link to the promo this picture was used in!
I said that I would have promo material for Speak Not to the Gilded Dragons in March and God damn it, I was not going to make myself out to be a liar!!
A new Confidante has joined the fray... Will this toxic tyrant be too much for Fimbulventir and TailBlazer to overcome?
Volume 2 of Speak Not to the Gilded Dragons is coming soon!!
"it could have worked" I think I'm not American enough to judge that lol. That said... man people have issues with interracial relationships don't they?
Well, see, when I say 'it could have worked', I'm talking about the hypothetical situation where we had people like Jordan Peele, Aaron Mcgruder, Spike Lee, and Quentin Tarantino joining forces to write and direct a movie about undercover black magicians fighting the forces of racism...
But going full BALLS TO THE WALL insane with it.
Instead of, you know, the 90-minute lecture with terrible writing that was actually made.
Don't forget the twist that said white girl is part of the female equivalent Magic society so all the system dismantling was kind of pointless. Also the mentor being like I cucked myself for the greater good so you have to too
See, I didn't even hear about that because most discussion I've been seeing about the movie, aside from a few people coping and seething 'Nooo, you just don't get the clever social-commentary~!', has been people tearing into the premise, tearing into just how badly the movie bombed, and a bunch of people saying 'why couldn't we have gotten a legitimate magical, fantasy movie with black people instead of this?'
I don't know if you're still watching Bluey, but they recently released the trailer for their 20-minute special, "the sign." There's a theory going around about Brandy (Chili's sister who had infertility issues) being pregnant due to a shot of her in the trailer. People are having a discussion about how this might ruin her debut episode and what she represents. However, there have also been people saying that they were infertile but were later able to have a baby, but that doesn't negate their previous infertility issues. I do understand the various sides of the discussion as infertility can be a difficult topic, but it does get toxic due to people having different experiences with said infertility that others may not have and wanting a character to only represent their personal experiences.
So, this is always an interesting discussion when it comes to infertility being presented in media.
Because while, yes, you should do your hardest to make sure that you're not presenting an image of 'infertility sucks but don't worry! If you wish and want hard enough, your infertility will magically go away~' and acknowledge that there are multiple means of becoming a parent (in-vitro, adoption, fostering, being a step-parent, etc.)
But, that being said, it's not the end of the world if a piece of media, especially one made for very young children, goes the easier route and just makes it so that said character can have a conventional pregnancy but just have it so it took a while.
Which, you know, would actually fit into Bluey because, remember: Bluey herself is a Rainbow Baby (with Bandit and Chili having lost their first pregnancy which led to Chili's overarching anxiety in "Baby Race")
Is magical society the one that sounds like it was made by followers of Yakub, where there are black wizards who keep white people from slaughtering people, but they don't just magic away the #white exclusive racism? I hope it ends with Moses blowing up 300 white people with dynamite. (Look it up, that's a legit part of the Yakub lore.)
You're not far off!
Basically it was a young man learning about a society of magical black people who have the task of making sure that white people never get 'too uncomfortable' - complete with a White Tears (TM) tracker - so that they don't lash out at black people.
Which, as dumb as it is... Could have worked if the movie didn't decide to go with the plot-development of 'oh, your designated white person needs to have a successful relationship with this white girl so you need to fill the time-honored borderline eunuch role that black best friend characters always have in movies like this... But, oh no, you're actually in love with the white girl??? And you don't want to fulfill your assignment??? And you going against the grain is causing all the other magical black people to lose their powers???'
Between The American Society of Magical Negroes and now the trailer for Netflix's animated Good Times revival, I'm going to need to meet whoever is in charge of current 'black-focused productions' in Hollywood to meet me in a dark alleyway, because what the literal FUCK is going on?
Being a Stella fan is hard af when you're forced to see shit takes from all sides in the fandom like, I'm just over here trying to love villainous bimbo bird mommy in peace damn
'Villainous Bimbo Bird', well that's a genus I've yet to examine
