hi there! little life update I guess, I’m working pretty full time now, so I don’t have a bUnch of time, but I do want to continue updating this blog. I’ve gotten back into writing on some other accounts/platforms, and I want to revive this blog as much as possible. I’m going to try to post again (I know I say this every time), but I’m going to try to go slow so that I don’t get overwhelmed and burnt out. Requests are always and will always be open, so you’re always welcome to send some in, and I am going through every request in my inbox to look at them and see which ones I’ve got the most inspiration for. Yesyesyesyesyes

you’re all staying at James’s parents’ house for the holidays

and one day you’re getting just a bit restless

because you’ve been sitting inside by the fire for 7 days straight

and it’s wonderful

but you gotta get some variety in there too!!

So you eventually decide to venture outside into the snow

everyone gets to pick an activity, it’s an all-day date

This goes probably exactly how you’d expect it to

“We’re not going skinny dipping, Pads, the lake is frozen.”

”Right, but if we break the ice and go underneath-”

“No!”

Remus wants to visit a little secondhand store in the town about a mile down the road from James’s manor

Normally you’d just apparate but a walk in the snow seemed fun!!

you got all bundled up in your winter coats and hats and scarves and gloves

Remus helped you get your scarf on bc your jacket was a bit too puffy and you couldn’t move your arms super well

and he wrapped it around your face!!

you kinda sputtered for a few seconds and tried to fight him off but all he did was chuckle at you :(

It‘s okay, James will save u!!

once you’re able to see and everyone is all bundled up you finally embark on your little hike

a snowball fight happens instantly

like embarrassingly fast

Remus hands you a snowball and gestures to Sirius who’s collecting cool little rocks and sticks

you nail him square in the middle of the back

“>:( HEY >:(”

“It wasn’t me!!” < you and remus in unison

the only reason Sirius knows it wasn’t James was because James was in front of him

the problem is, both you and Remus have snow on your gloves

sirius just gives you both a look like

>:((((((((

“You’re on thin ice.”

You do not point out that his plan for the day was to be on thin ice 

He turns around and James nails him in the faCE with a snowball

For a little while the fight is just ‘everyone see if we can cover Sirius in snow before he gets away from us’

He’s whining about his hair but there’s a big stupid smile on his face because you’re all surrounding him and patting him down with snow and he’s laughing so loud and it’s so hearty and his eyes are scrunched and everyone just takes a minute to appreciate each other’s presence and :((

he does get you back though

he dumps snow down James’s back, puts some in Remus’s hood and flips it up on his head, and rubs his snowy face all over yours 

You don’t regret starting the fight but you do feel bad for stepping into the little cafe in the village that James chose for his date idea dripping wet 

You get a little table by the window and right under a heater and Sirius gets pouty bc his hair is all staticky from the hot air

James goes to this little cafe sO much just because it’s so close to his house and the little old couple that own it know him

They come over and pinch his red cheeks and pester him about ‘introducing them to those partners he talks so much about’

He’s slowly letting his head fall to the table in embarrassment as you all tease him for bragging so much

you guys get your drinks on the house and the couple is constantly coming over to put more whipped cream on your coffees or more marshmallows on your hot chocolate

at one point you’re drinking your hot drink of choice and there’s whipped cream on the top and Remus gently tips the bottom of your drink up so that it gets all over ur nose

You want to get mad at him but you get a nose kiss out of it so you do not complain

when you’re finally finished with your drinks you guys stop over to the secondhand store next door

sirius immediately finds the ugliest sweater on the planet it is a terrible shade of yellow it has a Christmas tree on it and also a bunny and a few pom poms have been sewn on there and he’s like LMAO GUYS LOOK

remus takes it from him and buys it.

and he makes it look damn good.

james finds a cool watch that he ends up wearing every day from then on

its got the phases of the moon on it

Sirius ends up buying a hat that reminds him of his mum and he definitely uses it to dress up as her for Halloween one year

Like I said Remus gets that sweater but he also gets a bunch of other nice grandma-esque clothing and he styles it sO well

You find some cool pants and a jacket that sirius steals 24/7

since it was remus’s idea he pays and the total is not that high bc it’s a secondhand store and sirius is like d00d!! I’m gonna go broke from my idea!!

what is his idea you ask?

private horse and carriage ride through the countryside

you pretty much immediately silence yourselves from the driver of the carriage so that you can make silly little jokes and stupid observations without him hearing

its more mellow than you’d expect considering you’d just eradicated each other with snowballs after only 2 minutes of being unsupervised

Sirius has his head on Remus’s shoulder and you’ve got your head on James’s

You actually fall asleep and you wake up against James’s chest

its so warm and cozy and he’s carrying you through the snow and Remus and sirius are chatting while they walk beside you and they’re all speaking in such hushed tones and you’re blinking sleepily up at James and he’s cooing at you and shifting you so that you can rest more comfortably on his shoulder and :((

your portion of the date was seeing a play that was being put on in a little theater near the secondhand shop!!

james carries you in and you get settled in your seat and you’re sleepy but you’re staying awake because you’ll be damned if you’re paying good money for a ticket to a play that you don’t watch

sirius gets cheap crappy candy and passes it around and everyone’s got chocolate on their face and messy hair from the day’s events and Remus is still clutching the bag from the thrift store and you’re all broke but it’s the most fun you’ve had in so long

you probably do end up passing out right before the end of the play and James carries you out

you wake up in the middle of the night on a giant pile of blankets and pillows in the middle of James’s living room and his mum has left hot chocolate out for you and it’s perpetually warm

you just snuggle back into their warmth and drift off again

The quill in your hands was nearly snapping from the pressure you had it under, ink soaking onto the page sloppily as you scrawled notes down from your textbook. You barely had an hour until your potions midterm, and you had no clue what you were doing.

You wrote as fast as humanly possible, scribbling down the ingredients and instructions for every single potion that had been even vaguely mentioned in the chapters of the textbook that you'd studied so far. You were bent so far over the desk that your back was beginning to ache, but you were too immersed in your stress to care. You had to pass this exam, your future depended on it.

You tuned out all of the distractions around you, the pair of third year boys laughing in the corner, the girl across from you on the verge of tears because of her own midterms, and the seventh years stacking books on top of each other across from you to see how many they could stack before they toppled. Nothing could bother you, nothing was getting through to you, absolutely no distractions would-

There was something moving on your table. You shot bolt upright in your seat, brow furrowing in fascination as you watched a piece of parchment make its way across the wood table in front of you, stopping on top of your textbook expectantly. It was folded into the shape of a centaur, with a charmingly simple smiley face on its beautifully sculpted head. The design was enchanted, and the drawings were definitely done by hand. The centaur had a sheet of parchment on its back, folded in two and inked inside. You hesitantly took it, a smile breaking through your features when it bowed to you. The centaur transformed with a pop, a handful of dried flowers sitting in its place. You felt your cheeks heat at the mysterious thoughtful gesture, hands shaking slightly as you opened the piece of parchment.

Something was inside, and it slipped out into your lap, revealing scripted writing on the yellowed parchment. 

‘Don’t stress, you’ll do wonderfully. Go eat something good, and I’m sure you’ll ace the exam.

P.S.: I think you look stunning when you’re studying.’

The message alone had you biting your lip to conceal a smile, and you had to physically restrain yourself from glancing around the library to see who could have sent it. You reached for what had fallen into your lap earlier, unfolding it and seeing that it was a picture, taken on muggle film. It was still and grainy, but it focused on the light streaming in through the window, reflecting off of the snow gathered on the windowsill and illuminating you as you studied, hunched over your notes with your head in your hand. Stunning wouldn’t have been the word you’d have used to describe yourself previously, a stress headache building behind your temple and nail marks imprinted on your palm from clenching your fists so hard, but the picture captured something different.

You found yourself inclined to take the mystery stranger’s advice merely from the way that they presented it, gathering your notes and stuffing them in your textbook. You packed up your things, slinging your bag over your shoulder and keeping the note, photograph, and flowers clutched tightly to your chest as you exited the library, head down to conceal your smile as you made your way to the Great Hall for lunch.

If the hearty helping of chicken and rice that you had for lunch wasn’t enough to clear your head, the thrill of the note still held tightly in your hands was. You found yourself glancing down at it throughout lunch, mouth full of food as you tried not to smile. You were going to go straight to your room after the exam and pin everything to your wall, this was your moment and you’d be damned if you didn’t relish in it.

Eventually, your reverie was broken when it was finally time to get to class, and you reluctantly tucked everything into your bag as you stepped into potions. You’d managed to slip through the door just before class began, and unfortunately everyone else was annoyingly punctual for the exam, so there was only one seat left. You didn’t bother looking at your partner, mind still reeling with the events of less than an hour prior. When you finally got settled in your seat something on your partner’s desk caught your attention, sending your heart straight into your throat.

A camera.

A muggle camera.

Your eyes widened at the sight, and you slowly stole a glance at the person it belonged to. He was turned straight ahead, a blush dusting his cheeks as he avoided your gaze. Some surge of bravery occurred in your chest, and you managed to form a coherent sentence, “Hey, thanks for the advice. Lunch was great.”

You watched the boy’s cheeks grow ten times redder than they had been before, as he fumbled for something to say, finally turning to look at you. Before he could figure anything out, though, your professor began giving instructions for the exam. You leaned slightly closer to him in your seat, whispering so that no one else would be bothered by you talking, “You ready to ace the exam?”

He managed an eager nod, and you saw a soft smile on his face out of the corner of your eye. Your stomach was tying itself into knots, and you wondered if you’d even be able to concentrate on your potions exam. You decided to at least try to tune in, hearing your professor in mid-sentence.

“-nd as I’m sure you’ve heard from the class before you, your exam will be on Amortentia. I’m sure everyone’s eager to see what they smell in theirs, and you’ve only got an hour, so I suggest you start now.”

Fuck.

I genuinely didn't imagine getting to this milestone in 2021 but here we are!!!

Peter supposed it was just part of his job to keep people safe. Granted, he'd rather keep people safe from supervillains, aliens, or car crashes than snow, and it would be a real plus to have his heated suit on, but as long as he could stop someone from getting hurt, he was content.

His gloved hands were frozen numb, one wrapped tightly around the handle of the bucket of rock salt in his hands, shaking it over the especially icy patches on the ground, then clearing away the slush that was left over. Each patch of slush drained into the gutter, leaving the sidewalks clear for pedestrians.

Peter cursed his luck when he realized that more snow was falling, pressing on down the sidewalk and stepping aside to let someone exit their apartment building.

You were bundled up from head to toe, eyes barely able to make out someone clearing the streets just outside your building. You thanked him on your way out, relief settling in your chest as you realized you wouldn't have to worry about trudging through mountains of snow on your way to the market.

Perhaps you’d been too confident. One second you were on your feet, eyes locked on the tiny bit of the outside world you could see from where you were wrapped up in your jackets, and the next second you were flat on your ass, a stinging pain in your ankle and snow falling in your face.

“Oh! Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I could have swore I cleared the whole path,” You felt hands on your shoulders, barely gripping you through the thick padded layers as they pulled you up off of the ground, “Are you okay? Can you stand? I can call an ambulance, if you need, or help you back inside, or-”

“No, no, I think I’m okay.” You let him pull you off the ground, leaning gently on him for support as you put weight experimentally on your ankle, wincing as it twinged under you.

“Are you sure? Really, I think I should call someone, I’m so sorry, lemme help you, come on.” He helped you over to the steps of your building, lowering you gently onto the step and watching you gently prod at your ankle with worried eyes.

“I promise I’m fine, I just need to sit for a second.”

“Okay, okay, just tell me if it gets worse, okay? Really, I’m so-”

“Don’t apologize again! I swear, it’s fine.”

You could tell that the man in front of you was opening his mouth to apologize for apologizing too much, and you squinted up at him through the snow that kept falling thicker and thicker around the two of you. He quickly shut his mouth, feet shifting back and forth in the slush below.

“Um, were you going to the store?” The silence was broken only a few seconds later, and you let go of your ankle, glancing up at him as you nodded softly from under your hood.

“Did you want help with that? I can pick up stuff for you, if you want, after all, it’s kinda my fault.”

“No, no, it’s okay. Would you just,” You braced yourself on the railing of the staircase to the apartment complex, hoisting yourself up off of the ground, “make sure I get there without rolling my other ankle?”

The man wasn’t wearing as many layers as you, and you saw his cheeks flush bright red in the cold air.

“Yeah, yeah, of course. Here, you ready?” He held out his arm and you carefully took it, letting him slowly guide you down the sidewalk while you kept most of your weight off of your ankle, “I’m Peter, by the way, Peter Parker.”

“Y/N L/N, thanks for this.”

“Yeah, no problem. Actually, again, it was kinda my fault, I’m really-”

“Stop apologizing!”

he's just really agile, it makes sense that he'd be good on skates

you, however, don't have the same level of training with balance or agility

and it's really showing

your ankles are foLding i tell you

"Peter I don't think I'm supposed to bEND IN HALF-"

Peter catches you before you're able to fall too far and on top of that he doesn't even fall

he catches you with both arms around your waist and he tugs you upright

he just stares into your eyes for a few seconds, a stupid little grin on his face as you try to catch your breath and balance from falling

You're clutching his biceps and you've got a similar stupid little grin on your face

it's like a contest to see who breaks first

he does

he leans in and kisses you as quick as humanly possible and then skates backwards, leaving you standing alone in the middle of the rink

'Okay, now come to me!"

"What?! No, I'll fall!"

"I'll catch you, I promise!"

You aren't really sure how to push off so you just try walking, and you kinda slide, but it's not very efficient, so you're going really slow

Peter just laughs and skates forwards a bit to grab your hands

"Like this, just push off with one foot and then when you put that one down push off with the other"

you let him pull you around the rink a few times and then he lets you go again

you're finally able to skate a few feet into his arms and he is so proud

literally lifts you off the ice and spins you around

You two just look into each other's eyes for a few seconds while you giggle and then you kiss again

this time it's slower and less violent

You skate for a while longer but then you're off to get hot chocolate, and one of you definitely gets whipped cream on their nose that the other has to wipe off for them
