A little warning!

Although it makes sense for a character to say 'put your keys between your knuckles as self defense', and it helps someone feel safe, there are a lot of people who have debunked this method. It's always safer to keep an assailant at a distance or to put something between you two like a car door, and take self defense lessons from a qualified professional.

“When you go outside at night, you should always walk around with your keys sticking out of your fist, like this.” Grantaire picked up Éponine’s hand in hers and closed it around his house key, so that the metal tip protruded between her knuckles. “That way if you punch someone, the key stabs into them. You can defend yourself pretty okay that way, ’specially if I teach you how to box.”

Éponine chuckled and leaned forward on the sofa, rubbing her nose affectionately into Grantaire’s collarbone. Then she pulled back and flicked him on the forehead. “You haven’t boxed in years.”

“Yeah only ’cause I’ve taken up gymnastics, dancing, and fencing. Could teach you some useful self-defence skills from those too.” 

Éponine cocked an amused eyebrow. “Dancing? Self-defence?”

“Yep.” Grantaire nodded sagely. “With a well-placed jeté, you could totally knock someone out. Just deliver the kick to their face, you know?” 

*Re: Archive Warning, it isn’t rape, it’s sexual assault. It isn’t graphic or glorified. Despite that plot point, the fic is actually pretty happy/comforting.

I just think that he thinks that stars wars is neat. He and Feuilly probably watched the movies a lot as teens, and read the comics too. Oh and there had been without a doubt so many star wars movie marathon nights with Courf, Bossuet and Jehan (I just think they enjoy sci-fi movies okay)

my initial thought process was: lets make Combeferre a fairy knight. I'm gonna make it very beetle-dragonfly themed. also i like how insects are glittery in the sun. okay so his armour is gonna iridescent.

(i tried. im sorry but i crammed this artwork in 3h, including planning and sketching. im trying my best to work around my annoyingly filled schedule, but unfortunately i have many many things to do this week, eg 3 of my friends birthdays are coming up in the same week!)

Sometimes, creatures of the night don’t eat each other. Sometimes they… sit down and have a chat, because this other dangerous predator is the most fascinating thing you’ve ever seen.

Colored entirely (almost) with crayons because I didn’t want to lug four (4) kg worth of markers. And I’m REALLY happy with the result :D

(Jehan here is not a mermaid, he’s a vouivre / wyvern, a water spirit that tries to kill you if you try to steal the jewel on his head.)
