SAME
I'm just going to say, if Sarah actually goes with that INFURIATING, STUPID High King plot, someone is going to have to hold me back from throwing hands. I hated the mere mention of a High King, and everyone knows that if she did go that route, oh - so - magnificent Rhys will be King with Feyre as "High Queen". The very idea makes me rage. I hate the thought of a High King so damn much, I prefer the High Lords.

Note, I am finding these threads on the twitter feeds of ICU nurses who are now dreading the horrors that Roe falling will bring to their hospitals. This, on top of the horrors that they’ve seen and continue to see because of the pandemic. They were already exhausted and hanging by a thread.

on manorian
as some of you might know, I’m a sucker for the mate trope and throne of glass is a little more subtle here than acotar. we got rowaelin, obviously carrying that trope on their back. and then there’s lorcan in that illusion telling fake-elide he thinks she might be his mate. this proves to me, like in acotar, mates are not just a fae-thing, but that while lorcan is demi-fae and elide is human, they still have this pull between them that proves they’re more than “just” lovers. now, let me show you why in my little head, manon and dorian are mates as well. not sure if this has ever been confirmed by anyone, but it is real in my head, so here we go
mates are a thing for the witches, too
“The Crochans […] had adopted the Fae habit of selecting mates — if not a true mating bond, then in spirit.”
manon’s parents were mates and her father refused an arranged marriage to be with his true mate; and I think it‘s really interesting how the mating bond is literally defined by musical terms in the sjm universe, as has been pointed out several times by awesome people in the fandom already, and this is just another example
“A young witch was chosen for him specifically. But he did not love her — not with your mother as his true mate, the song of his soul.”
queen of shadows
while dorian was wearing the collar, manon was the first one to manage to get him out and fight the valg prince inside of him — which is interesting because they had absolutely no emotional connection whatsoever, and so it makes you think, why her?
Every step closer made her unbound hair shimmer like moonlight on water. But the demon began scrambling away as the sun lit up her eyes. Not too close, it said. Do not let the witchling too close. The eyes of the Valg kings —
“Hello, princeling,” she said, her voice bedroom-soft and full of glorious death. “Hello, witchling,” he said. And the words were his own. For a moment he was so stunned that he blinked. He blinked. The demon inside of him recoiled, clawing at the walls of his mind.
manon is so intrigued by dorian that she visits him in the end to check on him — something is pulling her to him and she feels already like something has changed; and he remembers her name — he can‘t remember anything from that time, but she sticks out
He could barely remember what had happened while he’d worn that collar. He’d turned twenty — and had no recollection of it. […] There was a massive shadow perched atop it. Dorian froze. Not a shadow, but a giant beast, its claws gripping the wall, its wings tucked into its body, shimmering faintly in the glow of the full moon. Shimmering like the white hair of the rider atop it. Even from the distance, he knew she was staring right at him […]. And through the darkness of his memories, through the pain and despair and terror he’d tried to forget, a name echoed in his head.
She didn’t know why she’d bothered to go; why she’d been curious. But there had been the prince, no collar to be seen around his neck. […] Changing winds — a changing world. Perhaps a changing Thirteen, too. And herself.
empire of storms
when manon and dorian meet again, instead of killing him, she tells him to flee and something ancient inside of her awakes
Face-to-face, Dorian panted as he stared down at her and breathed, “Hello, witchling.” Some ancient, predatory part of her awoke at the half smile. It sat up, cocking its ears toward him. Not a whiff of fear. Interesting. Manon purred back, “Hello, princeling.”
dorian returns the favor later, saving her impulsively + instinctively and without giving it a special thought
Dorian didn’t feel like mentioning he’d been the one who’d jumped into the water. He’d just … acted, as Manon had acted when she’d saved him in his tower.
manon tells abraxos to find somewhere safe, and so the wyvern does
His magic felt it before he did. A sense of awareness, of warning and awakening. […] The wyvern completed its circle, sweeping lower this time, readying to land as near the boat as possible. Not to attack … but for help.
kingdom of ash
manon and dorian have a deep understanding for each other and can see the other like nobody else can or dares to
“If you find so little value in your existence that it compels you to trust this thing, then by all means, bring her along.” A challenge to look not toward Morath or the spider, but inward. She saw exactly what gnawed on his empty chest, if only because a similar beast gnawed on her own.
He wondered if the Thirteen could ever see it — that hint of self-loathing that sometimes flickered across her face.
Only with her did he not need to explain. Only with her did he not need to be a king, or anything but what he was. Only with her would there be no judgment for what he’d done, who he’d failed, what he might still have to do.
hear me out: as we saw in empire of storms, abraxos has a sense of awareness that tells him what is right and what isn’t when it’s about manon, he brought her to dorian because he knew she’d be safe there. so when he returns from his little mission into the northern fang, and manon is restless, this happens:
It didn’t stop her breath from escaping when Abraxos stiffened, scanning the sky. As if he heard something they couldn’t. And it was the joy that sparked in her mount’s eyes that told her.
mates are equals and dorian hints at wanting to shout it out into the world, to let everybody know they belong together 🥺🥺🥺
She would be his wife, his queen. She was already his equal, his match, his mirror in so many ways. And with their union, the world would know.
in conclusion: manon and dorian are mates and are destined to be together. now, where is the novella?

For real though. Almost every character thinks about or comments on how beautiful he is at some point. He’s fine.
We best be getting Lucien and Autumn court backstory or I’ll be heartbroken!
Lucien’s scarred, handsome face appeared, his golden eye whirring.
- Cassian, ACOSF (p. 81)
Okay, but one thing that never fails to crack me up is the Lucien thirst throughout the series.
Males and females alike can't live with themselves without staring at Lucien, or pointing out how handsome he is.
The way I need to tap into Elain's mind to know exactly what she thinks the moment Lucien walks into a room. Whatever she's thinking is enough to get her to leave the room to get some air, but not enough to reject the bond. Interesting.

THIS!!! I feel like this is why she’s always practicing when she can’t sleep. I feel like she wants to be the best she possibly can so she doesn’t feel like she couldn’t help someone she loves again. When we get our Gwyn/Az book I hope she goes into this and more into her story.
Friendly reminder
that Gwyn decided to cross the bridge last and refused to abandon Nesta during the rite because she didn’t want to fail her sisters the same way she believes to have failed Catrin.

Seriously though.
The fact that I spent so long fantasising about Cassian calling Nesta ‘sweetheart’ only for him to call her ‘Nes’ consistently throughout acosf and that somehow hitting me more in my feels than ‘sweetheart’ ever could
😭😭😭

I am on the fence. I feel like it could go either way, she’s planted the Azriel seeds but why would she make her and Lucien mates? I feel like there is good arguments for both couples. I personally ship Lucien and Elain but feel like it could go either way! This is one I just don’t know about. It would really help if we knew who the third book was about.. why did she plant seeds for Az and Gwyn?
If she rejects the bond we better get a Lucien book because there are so many things I wanna see from his point of view. Especially his time in autumn and what went down with his brothers!
“She knew Elains journey early on”
THATS WHY ELRIEL SEEDS HAVE BEEN PLANTED FROM THEIR FIRST BOOK, THATS WHY THE REJECT THE BOND WAS IN THAT SAME FIRST BOOK. SARAH HAS ALWAYS KNOW 😭😭😭🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

PREACH!!! SJM take note!!!!
You're telling me JLA published TWO books of the blood and ash series in the same year within 6 months of each other? And now we're getting the next one this April?
You don't even have to like these books to appreciate how insanely amazing this is.
Serving us three books in a year, no author could ever.

It just hit me how it must seem to Nesta that Cassian is just toying with her and that his heart is with Mor.
- He and Mor have centuries of history together. Mor is stunning and sensual and open and warm and all the things Nesta doesn’t see herself being.
- Mor is the one who angrily warns Nesta off Cassian. To Nesta, it must feel like a territorial pissing match, (despite the fact that readers know Mor is just being a protective friend).
- Mor is the one who tries to disrupt the nessian winnowing moment, grabbing for Cassian while he’s clearly engaged with Nesta.
- Mor is the one who warns Nesta away from Cassian’s healing tent after the battle.
- Cassian is touchy and protective around Mor in front of Nesta all the time. He massages her feet after the High Lord meeting, he physically comforts her after Rhys gives Keir access to Velaris, they lounge together on couches. They show a level of physical comfort together that screams togetherness. To someone observant like Nesta, that would be setting off a thousand warning bells no matter how much flirting cassian does with her privately.
- The infamous battle tent scene, where Nesta shows rare, nearly unheard of vulnerability with Cassian. She touches him willingly for the first time, and stares into his eyes, and— he yanks his hand away as soon as Mor enters the tent. Must be *gutting* for someone who feels so much and guards her heart so zealously. She must have felt so foolish.
- While all Nesta can do is watch in the rain, Mor is able to go cut a path to Cassian mid-battle. Mor is the trained soldier with centuries of fighting experience under her belt. To Nesta, it must feel like she can’t compete - two celebrated warriors with that much rapport and history and mutual hotness.
- After the Nessian hybern death scene, it’s somehow Mor who winds up escorting Cassian off the field, with nesta watching. We don’t know how it happens, but somehow it’s Nesta on the fringes and cassian and Mor leaning on each other. Depending on how that went down, that may be the reason Nesta made it clear she wanted nothing to do with Cassian after the war.
In ACOFAS, it seems like Nesta knows Cassian is her mate. She tries to block out “all that he was,” and can sense that he follows her home. Knowing that must torture Nesta. Feeling like the cauldron shackled Cassian to her when he really wants to be with Mor. Feeling like all the attention he pays her is just the result of fate pushing them together and not his own natural wishes. Especially if she fears it was her feelings for him that bound them together when she was in the cauldron...she’d fight that with everything in her. She’d never want to take his freedom like that; and it would be so humiliating to her to have him want her only because magic forced him to.
That’s why his choice of her must be CRYSTAL clear in acosf. The Mor situation is going to have to come to a head. Cassian is going to have to put Nesta first - ahead of the Inner Circle, ahead of Mor. He’s going to have to do something to prove to Nesta that he wants her for herself. I need Nesta to know she’s IT for him and always has been, since the very first day she stared him down at that table.

Maybe those chapters were so bad and weird and cringey because they were translated to English from Italian? Am I grasping at straws?

do u guys think the universal translator sometimes has to add context for words that aren’t directly translatable. Like a human calls a vulcan a nerd and it comes out as smart (derogatory)
