Konoha Organisations

The Konoha shinobi society is organised into several units placed under the control of the Hokage. Each unit has jonin or special jonin in charge of it, and hey report to the Hokage and his advisers. Assignments to the different units are issued only after careful consideration.

The Hokage sits at the top of the society, listening carefully to his advisers before making any decisions. There are other groups and units that are not known to the general public.  

The two advisers (Mitokado Homura, and Utatane Koharu) both lived through the war along with the Sandaime (third) Hokage. Their immense experience and knowledge help the Hokage rule well. They help the Hokage to guide the village! 

Operations Unit: The backbone of Konoha!  In other words, regular ninja teams. Operations teams or individuals handle the majority of the missions the village receives, as well as education and other businesses.  However when the world turns to war, their knowledge and strength become weapons, and they concentrate on battle.  Naruto and Kakashi, and indeed, most ninja are in this division. Each team is given appropriate missions whose execution helps keep the village going.

Medical Corps: Incomparable skills support those in battle!  The medical team cooperates with ordinary doctors, learning knowledge and skills that allow them to provide emergency back-up in battle. They also develop new techniques and medicines, research diseases and the human body. By the time they reach the rank of Jonin their healing skills are near godly.  Medical ninja can make medical decisions from the smallest amount of information. Their care is precise and swift.  They remain at the back lines, supporting the warriors. They are divided into several groups by speciality - Emergency staff, technical research, etc. Healing all injuries swiftly and efficiently.

ANBU Black Ops: Special operations for the Hokage!  The ANBU are the Ninja Assassination Corps, the most secretive and elite ninja. They specialise in spying and assassination, and other difficult missions. Their actions and faces are hidden in secrecy. The Hokage selects them personally, regardless of age or gender and their orders come directly from him.  This shadowy unit is under the direct control of the Hokage. They specialise in torture and assassination. To ensure success, the makeup of the units varies according to the goals and difficulty of their missions. 

Bonus: Each village organises themselves differently depending on their customs, and culture. There are many functions or types of squad not found in Konoha.

Shinobi Rulers - A rank found within Kumo (Hidden Clouds). Ranked above jonin, and given the authority to represent their village’s interests.

Hunter Squads - A special unit of Kiri’s ANBU (Hidden Mist). Also called the ‘corpse disposal unit’, they possess medical and assassin training.

Kakashi Hatake Mission Reports, Part 1

Report concerning the certification of Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sakura Haruno: 

“Conducted genin certification test as usual. Specifically, to steal a bell from me, the true purpose being to see If they were capable of trusting each other. In violation of my instructions, they helped each other, and I submit that they are acceptable as genin”.  - Kakashi Hatake.

Other mentions: “Naruto combined ninjutsu and some good ideas, and managed to attack me from behind”. “Recognising their feelings, I inform them that they have passed“. “Sasuke uses Fire Style: Fireball Technique. His abilities are far beyond those of a genin“.

Rank: C Classification: Mission expected to injure ninja involved Examples: Guard private individual, behaviour investigation, capture or kill wild animals, etc. Requests from other countries/nations to join war. Fees: 30,000 to 100,000 ryo

Rank: D Classification: Mission involves no direct battle or risk of death Examples: Search for missing pets, help harvest vegetation, babysitting, etc. Requests from other countries/nations to join war. Fees: 5,000 to 50,000 ryo.
