It is a fond wish of mine to one day have enough time to participate in Mermay in its entirety; I grew up on stories of merpeople in history and world-wide folklore, and I can’t resist variations on a theme!
Here’s a quick concept based on Oannes, one of the first ‘mermen’ recorded in ancient Babylonian writings. He was also described as being fish-like with human legs and a human head (a project for another day perhaps) and would come out of the sea to share his knowledge and wisdom with the people of the land. His bottom half here is based very loosely on a Leerfish, a coastal Mediterranean species.

I am very interested in the story they’re going to end up telling with this series, whether I end up liking it or not. But in the meantime, I am all about indulging my foolish hopes for happy family shenanigans.

My brain needed a break from work-related art things so it wandered back over to Star Wars, as it is lately wont to do.

I just love these two.

The Bad Batch is slowly growing on me.
I still find the stylistic choices for their design kind of grating, but I wanted to try drawing them with at least something of a passing resemblance to one another while staying sort-of within the bounds of that design. Surprisingly fun exercise!
I wonder if it’s apparent who my favorite is?

The concept of Maul paper dolls started as a joke but turned into a surprisingly fun way to spend a few days of snowy, forced inactivity. I enjoy the silly ones; I foresee more of those!

Still doodling around with this, somewhat aimlessly.

A very merry Krampus to one and all!
I’d never used Procreate before, but I picked a brush at random and speed-painted this little guy after attending my first Krampuslauf last weekend, which was of course glorious. I’ve always loved the imagery of old-world traditions and costumes meant to chase away winter, especially when juxtaposed against modern surroundings. It’s now one of my fondest ambitions to take part in such a procession!

Wanted to try my hand at Star Wars fan art but haven’t a single creative idea in my head, so I spent the weekend amusing myself with one of those draw-whatever-charaters-in-your-clothes memes.
Here we have some morning, evening and daytime wear. Gardulla (or random Lady-Hutt?) in my robe and blueblockers is killing me.
