I’m no longer posting on this blog for reasons that you can read about below if you’re bothered lol. I’ll be ‘merging’ this blog with my main one.
Basically I’ll be posting all the content that would’ve gone on here e.g. future spooks of the day on my main blog, The Paranormal Periodical, so head on over there (i write articles on the paranormal every weekend which are well written as opposed to this garbled mess).
Hi.
I run the Paranormal Periodical blog, The People’s Paranormal Archive website, and this blog for it, obviously. This is a pretty weird post/a rant about life so feel free to scroll but this is more for me just so I can get some closure on things.
Basically, the archive is dead. She had a handful of submissions but just didn’t get moving and it got to the point where it was consuming my life in terms of trying to get reception on different social media platforms, updating and changing the website, and juggling the one true love of my life, The Paranormal Periodical blog.
I over-ghosted, as I like to call it.
I’ve had enough failed projects and youtube channel attempts to realise some things just don’t work out and that you learn from things etc and honestly letting the archive die overtime and finally laying her to rest was a massive relief for me. I still love the concept and stand by the premise, the website will be up until wordpress asks for more money, and one day I’d like to bring her back to life in a different format because I don’t think websites work the way they used to (i.e. in the future people could submit to the website and i make youtube videos of the stories like short films), but for now I’m going to get my life back and focus on the Paranormal Periodical blog again.
Tumblr media
But even then I've kinda found that hard recently. This blog is literally the best thing I've ever done in my life, and I can only thank the people who have read, liked, reblogged and followed enough because you’ve literally made a dream come true. Disclaimer: I don't want anyone to think i just care about notes cause this is the one thing in my life id do anyway because it gives me such a release to write a weekly article on the supernatural and explore a different world etc.
I try not to obsess about the numbers and internet points but let’s all be honest: we all want validation for the hard work we put into things. Currently that blog is going through what i call a ‘dry spell’ or an ‘off season’ - well, a very very long one. Normally it periodically gets a series of posts that do really well after a series of posts that only grab a couple notes and then people go back to the old stuff and they start to get traction etc.
As you can imagine it’s really hard when you don’t know when an off season will end and why its not ending and omg is the blog dead will it ever end will it ever do well again have i peaked is the blog over am i wasting my time will i ever amount to anything…
*spirals*
I write articles about the paranormal - I write exclusively about dead people. That means what i write about is highly irrelevant which is why i think i have these off seasons. I dont want people to think i only care about internet points, it’s more that I’m scared its peaked and its now not going to come back and that i’m not good enough anymore, that i’ve lost something.
I’m praying because i was directing so much attention to the archive and was over-ghosting and obsessing over like a gazillion different platforms and internet points etc. that i couldn’t fully apply myself to the articles and just enjoy it. The algorithm could’ve changed, I could’ve changed, and the world could’ve changed - all three are extremely likely given the way the world is right now.
Hopefully by letting the archive tumblr blog die and directing myself back to The Paranormal Periodical will make me feel like me again and give some life back to her and just idk be happy about her again? It’s time to move on and that’s not as sad as i thought it would be.
So yeah.
In a post about omens recently i read something about black butterflies and how they are an omen of death. But the thing is, some cultures believe it is more of a metaphorical death rather than someone straight up dying: it can also mean a phase of your life ending and moving on to the next one.
That’s why my motif for life right now and for 2021 especially is the black butterfly.
Also i fucking love black, like this pandemic ive gone head over heels full goth, its terrible.
I'll keep this blog up cause i did do a lot of content on here and if people want to see more stuff like this they can check out my main blog.
I don’t even think i’ll like correct the grammar on this cause i’m just pouring out my soul into this post, its a bit like one of my diary entries. Im also watching the movie aquamarine which god its one of those noughties films that has so much wrong with it but also mermaids.
Anyway, if you read all this thanks for listening.

Spook Of The Day #254 • The Legend of the Chenoo
Most Native American tribes - just like most communities across the world, actually - have their own take on Bigfoot, an ape-like being that stalks the wilderness. The Wabanaki had an interesting backstory for their Bigfoot:
The Chenoo was apparently once a human punished by the gods for doing something terrible. The gods turned his heart to ice and trapped his body in a great lumbering troll-like creature. He eats anywhere who dares get too near.

Spook Of The Day #252 • The legend of the cursed diamond that only certain British Royal family members can wear
Throughout history wars have been started for petty, pointless reasons. The Koh-i-Noor diamond, also known as the ‘mountain of light’ probably qualifies as one.
Sure its a giant diamond, and yeah, its ownership has changed hands so many times the eternal bloodshed will mean more than how it glitters in the sunshine - but even today we have a fear of such an object.
The endless wars that have fought for this jewel have cursed it according to some. It was incorporated into the British crown jewels in 1849 but only female members can wear it due to its historic bad luck...

Spook Of The Day #251 • Does Beyonce have a clone?
In 2016, a Beyonce superfan made a facebook post about Queen B herself. But rather than offering up their opinion on that album or sharing a video of them crying to “If I Were A Boy”, they shared two pictures. They claimed that the people in these photos were not both Beyonce.
One was Beyonce and one was a clone. Numerous conspiracy theories surround this icon, with most revolving around claims that she died in 2000, was either replaced with a reptilian or stem cell clone, and that the clone carried her first child.

The REAL Story Behind The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case (2016), And The 5 British Poltergeist Hauntings That Will Make You, Like, Die
In 2003, a moving van pulled up outside a small council house in North London.
Clare Bennet, a single mother of four, was moving into a new house that had suddenly become vacant. The former tenant who had lived there for over 30 years had recently passed away. It wasn’t long, however, before the single mother and her children began to experience things.
Strange things.
Clare was the first to notice it: that distinct feeling of being watched. Her teenage sons then began to hear the voices. Whispers and murmurs would emanate from downstairs in the dead of the night. And a few weeks later her 15-year-old son, Shaka, woke up to see a strange man enter his room and then dissipate into nothingness.
Yep, the house was haunted.
But let’s be honest - this paranormal activity ain’t nothing special. These events feature in most ghost stories that get told in the pub after a ‘couple pints. But a story like this wasn’t the first to be heard in Enfield’s Wetherspoons.
You see, the same thing had happened in the same house to the last family that lived there. Only the experiences of the last tenant, Peggy Hodgson and her children, in the late 1970s were more than a ghost story. What happened to Peggy and her children would go on to inspire one of the highest-grossing horror movies of all time - The Conjuring 2.
But how accurate was James Wan’s version of what really happened in Enfield? And are there any other poltergeists terrorising the residents of the UK? Let’s find out.

Spook Of The Day #250 • Rudolph Valentino still haunts his Hollywood mansion
Rudolph Valentino is the original sex symbol - but he is also one of Hollywood’s most infamous spirits.
Legend has it he was supposed to have a grand mausoleum built to be laid to rest in but it was never built and his discontented spirit still lurks in the shadows of his former Beverly Hills home. Loud noises, flashing lights, and aggressive apparitions have been sighted frequently. His ghost even allegedly chased out a socialite in the mansion.
It was later discovered a caretaker of the house who was intrigued by the legends did rig blue and green lights to freak out visitors. But what about the rest of the activity?

Spook Of The Day #249 • The miraculous sightings of the Virgin Mary - at the side of a road in an Irish village
Somewhere in County Cork, Ireland, is the small village called Ballinspittle. Most villages typically home a collection of local spirits. There’s a couple ol’ ghostly gaffers in the local pub, a handful of haunting nuns wandering around the abandoned abbey, and even a beast not dissimilar to loch ness monster in the lake in the park.
Ballinspittle, however, is known for the sightings of the Virgin Mary. Yes, her statue on the roadside was first seen moving in July 1985. Reports proliferated over the following weeks. 100,000 have turned out to see the statue with people travelling as far as Russia to catch a glimpse of Mary.

Spook Of The Day #248 • The Haunting Of the Dandy Farmhouse
Picture this - you’re about to move into your new home with your family. Its 1970 and we are driving through New York to get to your new farmhouse.
You pull up the drive only to see a neighbour running up to you. “What are you doing here? You can’t move in here!”
For the next 4 years the Dandys would feel invisible hands burn their body, see bricks removed from their chimney, and even a man in plaid standing at the end of their beds. He was holding a rifle.
(He was also dead.)
The Dandys got a priest to do several exorcisms but to no avail. It would pass between many owners over the years and they would report similar activity.

Spook Of The Day #247 • The Sewer Alligators of NYC
In the 1950s, those visiting Florida could purchase among trinkets and knick-knacks baby alligators. Yes, small reptiles in inhumane fish tanks could be taken back with tourists to their home towns and kept as a pet. But alligators have this problem - they grow. When they did and became too unruly to have around the house, they’d be flushed down the loo and sent off into the sewer system.
But the first tales of alligators in the sewers actually began in the 1930s in NYC. Although refuted by experts claiming nothing could survive for long down there due to bacteria levels and the low temperatures, reports of huge alligators swimming towards workers had grown increasingly popular in the early 20th century.
The urban legend is still whispered today...

Spook Of The Day #246 • The restless spirits of Villisca Murder House
Most murder houses have a story to tell - Villisca Axe Murder House has an incomplete tale to tell...
June 10 1912 - 6 members of the Moore family and 2 visitors were found dead in the Moore’s family home. The home is in the same condition as the day the bludgeoned bodies were found. You can even spend the night here (for a costly sum, of course).
To this day the murder remains unsolved. But it seems the spirits of those killed there are restless to have the truth discovered. One paranormal investigator even ended up stabbing himself by morning.

Spook Of The Day #245 • The Gravediggers’ Pub
It’s late and I don’t have time to fanny about with too many ghosts BUT turns out there’s a pub in Ireland which is known as The Gravediggers’ Pub because so many gravediggers would come for a pint after working in the cemetery next door.
In fact, the locals still perform the ritual of knocking on the pub wall with a shovel or throwing grave dirt at it to order their pint.
Aside from this macabre ritual, the spirit of Eugene - a man who used to own the pub - can be seen at the bar with a pint of Guinness in full Victorian get-up.

Spook Of The Day #243 • Opals can predict your death!
Turns out opals can predict whether one is at deaths door. When the opal is less bright, the person wearing it is due to die.
This superstition can be traced back to the Black Death (*looks into camera like Jim from The Office*). When the person would be alive and wear the opal it would be bright, but after they died it would be darker. They were basically moodrings, but weren’t so useful to those wearing them.

Spook Of The Day #242 • The legend of the Draugr
Draugen or Draugrs are ghosts of those drowned at sea. There are a number of different stories, but the most chilling one I found was on a (poorly translated) Swedish website.
Legend has it a man saw the draugen in a broken ship sailing during a storm, where these spirits are often seen. But for some reason, the man decided to run, believing it was coming after him.
He ran through a cemetery and asked the dead for help (here’s where Google translate lets me down). The next day the graveyard was slewn with seaweed and the graves open.
Even if she don’t make no sense she’s still a creepy story.

Spook Of The Day #241 • A woman’s corpse was once sealed away in a hidden chamber in this quaint Devon cottage
Chambercombe Manor is the sort of place you wish you could afford. Nestled just off the coast of Devon with its magnificent gardens and sprawling size, any ol’ estate agent would tell you that yes, this is a very nice property.
The locals, however, might tell you otherwise.
This manor dates back to the 11th century, and somewhere in that 1000 year history a woman who was found on a shipwreck was taken here for shelter. She was injured and thus given a bed, warmth, and food to recover. She did not. She died shortly after being discovered.
Her death wasn’t as pleasant as appears however. Residents recently found a concealed room containing the remains of a female corpse on a bed. It is believed she was lured into the house, robbed, and sealed away so she would never be found.
Understandably, the manor is now believed to be haunted.

Spook Of The Day #240 • The gruesome backstory of the Bucket Of Blood Inn
Most haunted pubs - especially the one’s in the UK - often home a few typical ghosts: there’s always the cloaked monk who sits in the corner or is seen with his favourite drink or wanders about the place just being spooky, and there’s some other spirit that has no consideration for personal space and just grabs or pokes people that are just trying to down a shot of Sambuca without throwing up a kebab.
The Bucket Of Blood has both such ghosts under its roof, but it’s more famous for the gruesome story that gave it its name.
Legend has it a landlord once went to get water out of the well only to bring up a bucket of blood. It was later discovered that a mutilated corpse had been dumped at the bottom of the well.

Spook Of The Day #239 • The spirits of those executed here still haunt this Hawaii beach
Kaupoa Beach literally translates to “places of thieves” and refers directly to the dark history that once belonged to this fair and pleasant bay. This is where those awaiting death as a form of punishment would stay in a form of exile from the population in ancient times.
It is since been abandoned and many archaeological digs have found artefacts of the camp that surrounded the location.
Visitors claim they immediately feel anxious when they visit, a sign of strong spiritual presence.
