SO WHY JONSA DIDNT HAPPEN????

I wanted to write down this meta, to try to explain my ideas of what happened in that horrendous season finale. I posted a while ago, some metas with pretty much a collection of all the jonsas foreshadows from both books and tv show from our very talented jonsas from tumblr.

SO, what happened? WERE WE ALL WRONG???? is this all red herrings from the books and show to makes us confuse? I dont think so. And I will try to explain why there was so much foreshadow and why it never came to be real in this past season.

SEASON 8 EPISODE 6

A TIME FOR WOLVES

If you re watch the final episode (i have no plans to see that shit again) you will notice that the ending montage, with the Stark kids; Jon, Sansa and Arya, feels like a set up momment for a new story to begin. And thats exactly what I believe this is it.

A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE was the first part of those characters lives (maybe why George wrote them so young in the books) and now, by the end of this novel, their adults lives will start. And a new song will starts to play.

A DREAM OF SPRING

All this foreshadow left by George are dreams, dreams that will only come true by Spring. Dreams for the future; Dreams for a new song. Here is my first hint about this idea.

ARYA ENDING IN SEASON 8

When I saw it Arya leaving in that ship, I thought with myself, ohhhh, so THATS how her story starts!

I wrote a meta in the past, about the idea of Arya being a Queen in the end of this novel, since there was so much foreshadow of this to happen in the books. (ARYA AS QUEEN PART 1; PART 2).

In book 1, A GAME OF THRONES, George makes sure to name Arya direwolf, Nymeria, who was a Queen herself.

Nymeria nipped eagerly at her hand as Arya untied her. She had yellow eyes. When they caught the sunlight, they gleamed like two golden coins. Arya had named her after the warrior queen of the Rhoyne, who had led her people across the narrow sea. That had been a great scandal too.

And who is Queen Nymeria?

She was a Rhoynish Queen who fled with her people with ten thousand ships to Sothoryos and all the way across to Dorne, where Nymeria’s War was fought, between the Martells who wanted to welcome the Rhoynish and other houses who did not. The Martells won and now the Dornish are of mixed Andal and Rhoynish blood.

So, Queen Nymeria, started her conquering by sailing the seas and landing in Westeros. Who eles did we see sailing way, looking for new lands to be found?? ARYA. Thats the beggining of her story. Thats not the end. Her Song is only starting now and the future years, we will see the fruits of all the foreshadow that promised her to be queen one day.

And George alluded to this is a fair recent interview, when he commented about scrapping the 5 years gap.

“If a twelve year old has to conquer the world, then so be it….”

WHAT ABOUT JON AND SANSA

Thats exactly what I believe will happen with Jon and Sansa. Their song is only now starting. Jon will be King Beyond the Wall and Sansa will be the Queen in the North and the last Stark daughter left in Winterfell. This is a set up for the Bael the Bard Song, with Jon and Sansa continuing the Stark line.

A marriage between them would seal forever the North Houses and the Wildlings. Which would explain why the show and books made sure to tells us in so many ways that those two are destined for each other.

“If I give him Sons, he may come to love me. She would name them Eddard and Brandon and Rickon….. In Sansa’s dreams, her children looked just like the brothers she had lost. Sometimes there was even a girl who looked like Arya.”

“I would need to steal her if I wanted her love, but she might give me children. I might someday hold a son of my own blood in my arms. A son was something Jon Snow had never dared dream of, since he decide to live his life on the wall. I could name him Robb”..-

All those dreams are meant for the Spring, for the future, for a new song……

Now, how do I believe George planned to reveal this New Song….

Option 1 - I believed he actually had intention to write a following book, describing the adventures of Jon; Sansa and Arya and all the other characters that survived the first novel. (this is just a guess, but since I have no faith ADOS will ever be written, imagine my hopes for this final novel to be ever published, zero chances)

Option 2 - George actually plans to reveal the ending of those characters in the epilogue of the last book, A DREAM OF SPRING. (Well, it would blow my mind that such amazing and interesting ending could be the epilogue of the last book, and that tragic unispiring tale would be the real ending. But at least it would make canon.)

Option 3 - George never plans to reveal this foreshadow as official, and wants to leave those hints as a secret ending for his beloved characters. (Well, that sucks too, I am sorry, but I am tired of theorizing. I want the foreshadow to actually have fruits and deliver a reality.)

Option 4 - He was just messing with us and wanted to use as red herring. (Well, tahts sucks even harder)

As you can see it, none of those options are good enough. But I would be happy with at least an epilogue confirming all this foreshadowing, but, will I ever see A DREAM OF SPRING being published???

I have to be honest with all of you. A GAME OF THRONES, has been one of the most frustrating, unfulfilling and dissapointing experiences i ever lived. Foreshadow is a very exhilarating writing mechanism, that makes the reader completely absorved in the story. But it needs to have a pay off, or will be a waste of time and thats how I have been feeling latelly, like I wasted my time.

The fun of following a story so passionated, like we did in the past years, its to actually harvest the fruits of some of our investments. Yet, the show and George rrm decided that, in order to be a unique story, they would subvert the expectations and give us that unexpected ending. In my mind it goes like this: “haha, I am going to write this unsatisfying ending for this fantastic story, but dont worry about it, there is this amazing and fullfiling tale hidden behind the very subtle foreshadow, hahaha”. “I wrote all those dreams and plans for my characters, but I am gonna make them suffer a lit bit more for a few years until I give them all they are hoping for, hahahaha”

Its feels indulgent, frustrating and quite frankly, bad storytelling. When all the characters arcs seems to not matter, or not going anywhere and all the story plots feels like red herrings, are we really reading a story or a surprise cliff notes collection???

And it just sucks!!! I get it that its in their right and I am not entitled of my ending of my dreams, but I am tired of being called delusional, I am tired of being laughed of my theories, I am tired of hoping and dreaming about an ending that never comes. Its exhausting and I am not sure I want to feel this way anymore.

Funny thing is, George once said that, he puts so much work and time in those little details of the books, because he wants the reader to discover a new detail everytime they re read the books; yet for me it was the opposite effect. For me, all this foreshadowing without a pay off, killed any desire I had for this story.

I have no plans to re watch the show after this horrible ending; I have no desire to re read the books; I no even have desire to buy the new books because, If j@nerys will be the main romance of the final books and Jonsa, once again, will be hidden behind foreshadows and fucked up hidden POV, then I dont want to put myself in this frustrating position anymore. Maybe I will feel different after a while, but now? My love for this story is not the same.

DO I BELIEVE THE SHOW ACTUALLY SHOOT AN EPILOGUE WITH THE REAL ENDING???

I actually think they did. There has been a lot of rumors and behind the scene comments about certain scenes that were filmed that were never used and some scenes that were making the actors confused about the story.

First we have a scene in Season 7, where the writers spell out to us, both Arya’s and Sansa’s dreams as children. Arya got to live her dream, Sansa didnt.

We have this interview with Sophie Turner where she points out Sansa’s old dreams of love and happiness.

And we did have a few leaks mentioning a Jon/Sansa wedding scene, which lets be real, would not be in th radar of your typical fake leaker, because this storyline is not very possible for the general audience.

AGAIN, what do I think it happened??? Maybe they planned to show us the epilogue, with the final ending of the characters, but after the Mad Queen backlash they changed their mind; maybe they only plan to release this epilogue, in a far way future (Tyrion question, ask me again in ten years, left me wondering) or maybe they just plan on releasing once George finishes his books. Or maybe I am just assuming things and no epilogue was ever shoot and nothing will ever be released.

BUT, DOES IT MATTERS???

Not really. Will I care if they release this Epilogue 10 years from now? Probably not. The feeling of frustration and disappointment is simply too big. Bryan Cogman said that the ending is supposed to make you not feel right, but it was supposed to make me feel like crap? Am I supposed to feel like I wasted years of my life, investing in this story? And thats how I am feeling right now.

BTW - The fact George made sure to save D@ny body and have Drogon fly way back to Essos with her, leavs with the feeling he also has plans for a new Song for her character, but I have no desire to go look for those foreshadows myself.

ANYWAY, enough of my rants. I wanted to put this idea on papper because, it actually gave some peace of mind. To know that George may have future plans for those characters and that all this foreshadow may actually be a hint for their spring, made me few less unhappy about the trainwreck that was the finale. I want to dedicate this meta to all the jonsas that are in pain right now and need some closure. I know this experience was hard on everybody. I am gonna tag some wonderfull, talented people who inspired me in these past years. BTW, I wish I could tag EVERY SINGLE TUMBLR I am following right now, but that would be more than hundreds, so this is just a few.
