I’ll be uploading it by how the chapters are in the novel, so there will be a prologue, six chapters, and an epilogue. Chapter one should be uploaded in the next 4-6 weeks. My goal is to get the entire novel done by next October. If you like it let me know, any feedback would be appreciated!

“You don’t have to force yourself to apologize.” B rolls his eyes, the anger simmering somewhere deep inside and the smoke coming up as annoyance and frustration. “It makes me nauseous.” Could L be actually sorry? Highly unlikely. His bets are on an attempt to pacify. 

The detective did feel a slight tingle of guilt in the back of his mind. B hadn’t lashed out at him, not really. He’d initiated this hostile confrontation himself- he’d hurt the other. While he did struggle in most social scenarios, the cruelty of his words was obvious even to him.

…Damn his morals.

“B, wait,” L started, discomfort visible on his face. “That was…unnecessarily inappropriate of me to say. I apologize. I promise I will inform you when you will be allowed to leave- when I believe you’re ready, that is.”

“Mhm,” A agreed sardonically, knowing first hand that was false.

They had to be half a mile away from the house before they came acrossed the creek bed with a thin sheet of water trickling down. Almost a heart breaking sight, but you could distinctly see a pile of branches blocking stream and creating a deep pool on the other side.

“Dude,” Alec could have cried. “Beavers, bless every single one.”

B doesn’t argue after that, choosing to walk along side A as they dip through the gap, avoiding getting scratched by the rusted metal and out into the forest. Eventually the fence will be fixed to prevent that but right now the staff doesn’t know, or care, B’s bets are on the later.  His eyes scan the trickle before looking over at where A’s attention is. “Oh shit do you think we’ll see one?”

“So what? I break L’s neck and wear his ratty hair like a stupid hat?” Alec deflected with humor. He knew deep down no matter how hard they pushed themselves past the breaking point none of the first generation would never be L. It was all worthless.

Alec ducks out of it and swats his arm in good fun. “You better have washed your hands. I’m already sweaty, I don’t want to be sticky from your jam either in case this turns out to be a foot wide stream.”

They walk along the fence until they reach the rusted gap in the poles. “Will we hit it if we just keep going straight?”
