“Okay, so, don’t panic,” Tony says, in that carefully-measured this is not a crisis tone he always busts out during a crisis.

Steve, of course, panics immediately.

“What is it,” he demands, all but tossing his sketchpad across the living room as he leaps to his feet. He’s across the space in an instant, hovering anxiously in front of Tony. “Is it an attack, is someone hurt, is there a bomb -”

“Chill,” Tony says, but his voice is tense and his skin is pale and its really not doing a lot for Steve’s nerves. “It’s none of that, it’s just, uh. The arc reactor.”

“The arc reactor?”

“Yeah,” Tony says, grimacing and only then does Steve realize he’s got a palm pressed against his chest, covering the characteristic blue glow. “One of the wires shorted out and Jarvis says it’s going to die in the next five minutes if someone doesn’t replace it. So, uh, kinda need you to do that.”
