It's an interesting feeling, being miserable or sick in the middle of other people. Whether you hide it well or not.
Because on one hand you wonder how the world can keep going in the middle of such feeling, how people can just live their lives.
But on the other hand, you wonder if everyone is really feeling miserable or sick, and they're just much better at hiding it than you.

I thought I was pretty familiar with emotional pain until I experienced meeting someone perfectly suited to me in every way, interested in me, and I in them, and for it to have no future because we live on opposite sides of the world. That's a new kind of suffering.
Life: Here, meet this amazing person and talk to them nonstop for like two weeks and have a fantastic date with them in which you discover that if soulmates were real they might be yours
Also Life: Fuck you. Fly back to America and be miserable.

remember how profanity was made out to be the worst thing in the world when you were a kid and then when you grew up everyone was like "just kidding, nobody actually cares, we were just doing that so we could yell at you"

Safely and successfully directing a blatantly antifacist production of Cabaret a few weeks prior to the 2020 election. There are many things I would do differently now but it still remains as my proudest achievement.

I don't think I look up to people anymore. Certainly there are people I admire and respect for a multitude of reasons, but human beings are so fallible. I have trouble putting someone on that kind of pedestal if they aren't truly incredible.
To that end, Stephen Sondheim was someone that I looked up to a lot growing up and well into my adulthood, and his passing affected me in ways I don't even think I've fully processed yet. Now that he's gone, there's no one left that I think of in that way.

It's truly stunning to me the way that people can do such obviously heinous things, but are then far more eaten up about your reaction than their actions, as though my anger is somehow a worse sin than the choices they made to bring us here.
Like...fuck dude. Have some empathy.

Idk who needs to hear this (yes I do) but having anxiety/depression, experiencing gender dysphoria, being neurodivergent, having trauma, etc. absolutely does not absolve you of being a terrible person and does not mean you don't have to answer for your shitty actions. Your mental health isn't a shield you can hide behind when you fuck over other people.
Being an awful human being is a choice, not a diagnosis.

andrew garfield saying, “i hope this grief stays with me because it’s all the unexpressed love that i didn’t get to tell her” about his mothers passing is so gut wrenchingly beautiful because we rarely talk about the love we want to express but can’t, not because you’re not brave enough to say it out loud but because they’re not here to listen to it anymore. calling grief the love you never had the chance to share makes it less of a burden and more of something you want to keep and not something terrible you want to move on from. i love love how everything about grief always comes down to “what is grief if not love persevering?”

Sometimes I'm so keenly aware of how easy it would be to rip a man's heart from his chest and devour it whole.
Today might be the day.
