There's a particular brooch that Kitty Russell wears often. It's implied that Matt gave it to her, though we never see him do so. But every so often, it's used as an important detail to imply that it's important (like in season 12 she leaves it pinned to the seat of the stagecoach she's kidnapped from for Matt to find, and then later in season 17 he figures out that the feral child knows where Kitty is because she's given the brooch to the child). And for some reason, I just really love this tiny recurring piece that's evidence of their relationship being so much more than what we see on screen.
