HARUNA STUFF
things about Haruna's life before the mutual killing game was
She never really got live a normal life, she really did not live a normal childhood because she never really was allowed to play with other kids, she never got to play in the park with other kids, or get to interact with them, because she was not allowed to. The only time when this changed was when a co-worker of her parents had brought their kid to Haruna’s home. That kid was Kotone Minami. Kotone Minami was the first friend Haruna ever had, as they played together, hanged out with each other, and went to the same schools together until they graduated junior high.
Haruna has a tendency to put Kotone Minami on a high pedistol, despite the flaws in their relationship.
Specifically talking about family life, the only people who really raised Haruna been the maids that her parents hired to take care of the house while they were gone. Haruna’s parents themselves, were never really involved in her life, never really been there for her, and never really showed any affection towards her except for the times they showed up on her birthdays and when she won competitions. They never really spoken words of affection either, just congratulations when she achieved something. They tended to try and control Haruna’s life a bit, even though they were not there for her much at all. So her family life was almost like prison. This was the start of how Haruna would never really be in a normal relationship with anybody until Kazuko entered her life.
Kotone Minami was allowed to play with Haruna because she been her parents co-worker’s kid, and the reason as to why Haruna been allowed to attended schools around other kids was since because of that co-worker convincing Haruna’s parents to allow Haruna to attend school with Kotone, and this pretty is one of the reasons why Kotone and Haruna got to attend schools together for the longest of times until they graduated junior high. When Haruna started to attend school, she was able to gain more friends, but things started to change drastically once Haruna got to a point in her life where she entered competitions.
Once Haruna started to enter competitions, and once she started to win those competitions, she had started to develop a complex that was given birth to the idea that she could somehow gain her parents love. During these times when Haruna started to win competitions, she also been trying her best to gain her parents love anyway she could, so once they started to show up more often when she won those competitions, she developed the thought process of “winning”= “parents love me”, which then she began to develop her inferiority complex, which was a weakness about herself that she hated because of how deeply it affected her relationships with others.
Because of that “winning”= “parents love me” thought process, it slowly drained and eaten away at her relations, since when it was not about winning competitions, the thought process became somewhat like “be better than someone else or everyone” = “I am more liked” or “I will gain more affection and love” or “parents love me”. This thought process was clearly wrong as it costed her the friendship of several people. After this, she would lose more friendships due to rumors that spread around her school that were started by those people who she lost as friends. One person in Haruna’s life who she considered a friend had gone behind her back and lied to her constantly when they had made fun of her without her knowing, and once she found that out, she had lost her trust in many people. Losing friendships in general had made Haruna lose trust in others, and became insecure and doubtful. She ended up losing hope on gaining any new friend because of her own fear of losing to her impulses that would cause her to lose more people she cared about.
Kotone, however, for better or worse was an exception to this. She had continued to be Haruna’s friend. The flaw to their relationship is the fact that Kotone would never lecture or call Haruna out on things she known the meteorologist would be wrong about. Instead of trying to get through to Haruna about how to admit when she was wrong or been wrong, she continuously spoiled Haruna to a point where the meteorologist would not at least try to fix her mistakes or apologize, as she would keep telling Haruna she never been in the wrong, when that was not true.
Haruna is a smart girl, so she does know when she is wrong or when she is in the wrong. She does understand when she makes a mistake, but because of her own weakness, she struggles to admit or own up to those mistakes she had made. Kotone did not help her one bit at all to try and at least fight this, so Haruna ended up relying more on Kotone then she should have, as when Kotone was the only person in the world who continued to be Haruna’s friend despite knowing her flaws, Haruna put all of her trust into Kotone as she never had to fear losing Kotone as a friend.
Before the killing game, Haruna had a weird and strange view of justice and crimes. She believed those that steal and forge are not truly criminals because she could see those actions being used by people to save others after a weather disaster, but when it came to murderers, she strictly believed that a murderer is a murderer, that there should be no pity for those that kill people.
When the game started, before the mutual killing game, Haruna did her best to stay cautious of friendships, because of her own fears. Hana, was the first person Haruna became friends with in the parel class. When the mutual killing game started, Haruna had become more cautious, but it really was not a problem until after trial 1.
Trial 1, once haruna learned Hana was a killer, she literally shut down because of how she let someone who lied to her, become her friend. There was also the fact that Hana was a killer, and in Haruna’s book, a murderer is someone to not feel pity or any emotion for. When Hana was executed, a lot of Haruna’s emotions got mixed.
Her first friend In the parel class was a killer, a type person who Haruna once thought to be nothing but a waste of space, so Haruna had developed a lot of mixed feelings. However, she tried to not think about it much, but trial 2 happened.
Trial 2, she was called out for being a hypocrite, which is not entirely wrong, she has been hypocritical a bit during this whole game. However, if it not been for Hana dying chapter 1, or maybe Haruna not becoming friends with Hana, Haruna probably would had continuously thought of killers as nobodies, but since that did not happen, chapter 2 brought out a side of Haruna that was hypocritical, which was bound to happen since, Haruna never really has experienced losing a friend due to death, nor has seen anyone in her life who she found dear, be executed due to them being a killer. Haruna never ever has had a friend who killed a person before, so, her being pretty hypocritical in trial 2, was bound to happen. She did not know how to process going through what she had gone through chapter 1 very well, so when she had told Madoka a lot of the things she told her, it been a part of left over emotions she had left about Hana. She also expressed a bit of her backstory about her parents this chapter too, which she and Hanako were called out for as well.
She did not even expect herself to reveal that much about herself since it was a very personal issue for her, but due to giving into her impulses, the anger inside of her got the best of her and she ended up blurting out stuff she had not wanted to blurt out.
Needless to say, after this trial, she was absolutely sure most of her class hated her, but kept silent due to not knowing, and not trusting anyone enough to express the feelings she had. So, she kept a lot of what she felt bubbled up, and convinced herself that most of her class hated her.
The first merge trial brought upon this too.
There been no way for her to know if Sarara been lying to her since she did not know Sarara enough to give a fair judgement, just a judgement that Sarara looked harmless and a bit weak, but that been all what Haruna known about Sarara. Haruna convined herself that Jamie and Michiko were the culprits for this trial because she could not connect enough dots to say that Sarara killed Genta.
She does regret a lot of what she did that trial, and would apologize to Jamie and Michiko a lot for her mistakes that trial, though she would not beg them for forgiveness since, she is not the type of person to beg someone for their forgiveness. Her weakness even would prevent that from happening. So, she kept a lot of what she felt bubbled up inside again.
The second merge trial.
I will be honest, Ailani had convinced Haruna it been her until Ryouji confessed. Since the robot claim was so sudden after Ailani was being accused, Haruna had the hardest time believing what Ailani said. Though when Ryouji finally confessed, Haruna felt a extreme amount of guilt.
She lost to her impulses again and ended up hurting someone. She hurt Ailani by pouring wine on Ailani.
She deeply regretted the action, and once Ryouji been executed, Haruna wanted to take the first step to overcoming her weakness, and so she opened up a little, and apologized to Ailani publicly, admitting to her mistake and wrong action. The first step she tried to take is leaving behind the past that her parents created.
Then comes the third merge trial.
Me and Kamary have talked a lot about how these two would go to extremes so much to protect each other, and boy, I knew once trial started, if it been kanon who killed Sosuke, Haruna would no doubt, deny Kanon killing anybody at all until kanon confessed. She convinced herself that Ailani killed sosuke because she did not want to think about kanon killing anyone, but it happened, and so, there was no way haruna would not react. She had to go through what she had with Hana again, but this time with someone she has continuously ever since after trial 1, become great to best friends with. She trusted Kanon on a level that she had with Kotone but with a few exceptions.
If I be honest, after Haruna watched Kazuko die. She realized that she needed to stop relying on others to fix her problems for her because (this is a big spoiler but)
HERE IS WHERE WE GO WITH KOTONE AND HARUNA
in the past, while she and Kotone still hanged out a lot, she was extremely dependent on Kotone, and Kotone really did not help her fix that problem (never told her to stop being dependent solely on her, and never told Haruna when she made a mistake or was wrong), so it ended up making their relationship toxic and flawed.
(If I try to explain it a bit; this would be it; Kotone never once told Haruna that she did something wrong, and continuously let Haruna cling to her, letting Haruna become somewhat too dependent on her, but Kazuko was completely different, she did tell Haruna when she was wrong, and she let her know not to be too dependent on her. This made a huge difference because Kazuko helped Haruna gain the courage to fight against that weakness of hers. Since Kazuko "died", Haruna had decided to break away from her weakness and grow stronger so she can survive, catch the killer, and bring kazuko back. Kazuko Kagami helped Haruna become a better person in a sense that she finally has a will strong enough to break away from her weakness that chained her.
And her weakness was something that barred her from admitting her mistakes, apologizing to others in a face-to-face situation, and seeking praise to a point of being dependent on someone for it.
So yeah after Kazuko was executed, Haruna decided to fight and break free from her weakness for the better of her life and others.
So Haruna would not be extremely dependent on Kazuko, not at all like she was with Kotone.
To be honest Haruna herself does not want to have toxic relationships, and wants to strive to be a better person so her relationships won't be toxic.
Kotone never once told Haruna that she did something wrong, but Kanon did. This made a huge difference because Kanon helped Haruna gain the courage to fight against that weakness of hers. Since Kanon died, Haruna has decided to break away from her weakness and grow stronger so she can survive, catch the killer, and bring kanon back. Kazuko Kagami helped Haruna become a better person in a sense that she finally has a will strong enough to break away from her weakness that chained her.
In general, seeing a lot of people die has made Haruna think differently, as she does not view killers as just nobodies anymore, she has more sympathy.
The only people she truly hates now are the masterminds, as she believes them to be people who have helped the mutual killing game continue.
(SO BIG EDIT HERE AFTER A CHAPTER OR TWO) Turns out…!!! She only hates the Parel MM!
She had accepted Chou to pretty much be a innocent bystander once the second MM trial ended.
So. That trial.
Trial 8.
OH BOY.
She had figured out it been Ailani- but since no one in her class “wanted” to vote for her- haruna; slightly going into the void; p much accepted it.
She at that point, did not care at all that Ailani killed Yuka- she understood the girl regreted it and known- after speaking to Ailani alone after the results of the trial- she understood Ailani known the weight of her own actions, and p much, Haruna accepted that like;
“Hey at least you know the damage you done, and your not denying what you did was bad or horrible.”
So yeah, she was pretty cool with Ailani, but, that was where she was lead into believing that Ebullience was mastermind (SORRY EBULL); The idea Ailani brought up sounded really good to Haruna, so she went with it.
LETS JUMPSTART TO NEXT CHAPTER
Ai died?
Ai is dead?
Her texting partner gone? And died pretty badly? When the murderer could have chosen a less painful method? Or choose anyone else???
Yeah- she was not happy.
Then when she found out everything she had needed to know it been Tadashi.
She was basically like; “FUCK YOU” to tadashi, for trying to hide away the fact he killed Ai, tried to act like and make himself  look like a victim, and was getting help from one to two of the major invest leaders from the past.
So- she had to fight like her life was on the line for dash to be voted as killer.
DEAD KIDS, SHE THANKS YOU A LOT OKAY- LIKE- SHE REALLY IS GREATFUL.
She almost killed Michiko and Ebullience, right at the end there- in the middle of the trial room, but dead kids saved the day.
She cried happy tears
Then Tadashi says he does not want to be executed; and this leaves problem with haruna bc; she thinks that is p hypocritical considering that Ai did not want to be killed- even though they were in a simulation; she still thinks Tadashi was p hypocritical in the end for those words. Also- because of this- it lead her to believe that Tadashi felt no remorse- or anything at all for what he did so in the end, to her, Tadashi was a A-hole. So- she just treated him like garbage there at the end (FREE HIM PLEASE)
Y now know why Haruna got the thought that ebull was mm so I am just gonna say here, the only reason why she kept on insisting Ebull was still a suspect was bc of two reasons
1.       Haruna did not trust ebull- not at all- and did not trust Michiko at all bc they lied and helped Tadashi kill Ai
2.       Yuji was getting some trust points from haruna until the very end there
Yuji, at that point to Haruna, was somewhat trustworthy, like, he acted kind to her, and helped her.
(Major point; Haruna is easily tricked into liking someone because their kind to her; but at this point, if someone betrayed her, it would take a cost)
KEY IN LAST MM TRIAL
He basically betrayed her- and- Haruna- fucking done with being betrayed was like;
“FUCK THAT SHIT!”
And proceeded to punch him, because she was done with being lied to, betrayed, and easily backstabbed.
Now that Yuji has reveled himself to be mm.
She wants to punch him again.
So yeah, Haruna is a really complex character with a lot of flaws, she is not perfect, but nobody is.
I hope this can explain why Haruna did some of the stuff she did!

‘Friendship, love, attachment. All things that grab hold of my heart are and has been always dear to me, please do not betray me, I do not know how I could handle it if you did-’
“Why! Why!? Why do I have to lose someone {dear to me} again? Why did I do to deserve {such a awful fate such as} this! Why- {Is it destiny for me to keep falling like this?}”
You never know how much you truly love something till its gone.
