Jon was so funny this episode. Literally could not have been more petty and direct. Alice says she felt like she was being followed and then IMMEDIATELY got a statement directed to someone named ALLISON about UNEARTHING something DANGEROUS that should have been KEPT BURIED. Okay Jon. Thanks Jon. Very cool Jon.
Alice's possessiveness this episode is FASCINATING. Like yes, Gwen taking the mocha meant for Celia. Very good. But to me that's more about her hate for Gwen than a possessiveness over Celia.
No I'm talking about over Sam.
This episode had a lot of instances of Alice shutting down Sam's feelings by way of saying "we". "I thought WE weren't doing that", "WE are moving forward" etc etc. Also Alice asserting herself as the closest person to Sam. Combined with her jealousy of Celia, Alice wants to take care of Sam but there's a controlling element to it too.
Now, I don't think she's doing this on purpose per say. I think she's scared for Sam and possibly losing him. She knows what this place does to people after all. Plus with so much change happening, having one constant in Sam is grounding.
This doesn't make what she's doing okay though. And if these possessive and controlling behaviors escalate, it will def be a source of friction for the two of them.
Alice continues to be a treasure and my favorite part of the show. She has just the combination of funny, bastard, and causing problems that keeps me at the edge of my seat of every conversation she's in.
