I N S T A L L A T I O N S It’s been a good 10 years since I created any sort of installation and I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to do this for the end of residency show. This is a small section of it here. Over 30 people donated ricks to my residency and because I couldn’t use them all during the time to make into paint I wanted to include them in another way. I made a small installation of the rocks I collected and people donated and I’m so happy with how it turned out and visitors responses to it. My aim was to create a piece of work that allowed everyone to be part of and I feel like this did that, alongside my interactive piece. If you donated a rock to me, can you see it here? F I N A L. W E E K. It’s the final week of my residency experience before the launch of the Private View on 23rd March. (Link in bio) Over the past 6 weeks I’ve had the use of this stunning soho building alongside 6 other artists. Having all this space has allowed me to create my biggest painting to date. It measure 185cm x 235cm and it’s been such a joy to paint on this scale. This residency has allowed me not only to explore scale but also new materials. These are my first watercolour on linen canvas paintings, and I’ve got to say, I LOVE it! The time has allowed me to contemplate my surroundings and also the motivations behind my work. You probably all know by now that my work is driven by raising awareness about climate change, being more sustainable and starting dialogues about our planet. I have some good titles lined up for these paintings. They aren’t exactly punchy but I think you’ll enjoy them! More to be revealed. Well I’m creating new works made from the pigment of rocks gifted to me and I’ll also be creating a collaborative installation for the end of residency exhibition. How? I hear you ask! H O L I D A Y. M O D E. O N Time to rest. We arrived at our holiday cottage in Scotland yesterday and I’m most definitely ready for a bit of rest and relaxation. I’ve been suffering with pretty bad flu for the past week so this break couldn’t come at a better time. I’ll still be posting on Instagram but I’m certainly going to be using this time to get myself ready for 2023. We have been going away for Christmas for the past 8 years and although I miss family at this time of year I absolutely love the seclusion and time to reset. This year has been an absolute blast. S I N U O U S Gun metal and yellow ochre mixing beautifully together. The pigments used in these paintings are slightly different to normal. I purchased the dark brown / black colour from @a.rural.pen who very cleverly transforms decommissioned guns into pigment and ink! He kindly let me buy some of the pigment and look how wonderfully it has mixed with the yellow ochre I was gifted by @catcoulterartist from Fife 🖤💛🤎🧡 True collaboration between earth, wo/man and artists!
