Cracks of sunlight snuck between the folds of curtains. The faint call of birds are heard, muffled. Dark brown hair cascaded over closed eyes, an attempt to shield them from the afternoon light… To no avail.

The irritating brightness caused her to stir, slowly opening her eyes to the world. Lara began to wake up.

She tried to shake her grogginess by stretching, but felt her limbs were pinned down. At that moment, she noticed the hands at her hip, the warmth radiating from their touch.

She smiled and spun around gently, an attempt to not wake her companion.

Diana of Themiscyra. Demigod. Aspect of truth… Was a snorer. Lara tried to stifle a giggle as the noise repeated.

Brown eyes half lidded in adoration, taking in the beauty next her. Her back length dark hair, her olive skin matted with the occasional scar, her full lips looking distractingly kissable.

Seeing the warrior princess at ease filled her with warmth. She struggled to find a word for it, this happiness, this eagerness to see what the next day brought in store for the two of them. What new temple would they discover, what ancient monster would they slay?

As her thoughts raced, Diana began to shift, also beginning to wake.

With a yawn, Diana greeted her with a living smile of her own.

“Morning, Lady Croft.” She almost whispered, her accent caused Lara to shiver every time she heard that.

“Morning, Diana.”

“How long have you been up?”

“A few minutes, didn’t mean to wake you.” Diana lifted a thumb to brush a strand of Lara’s hair out of her face, letting her fingers linger across her cheek.

“There are worse things to wake up to, than a beautiful woman in your bed.” Feeling her cheeks begin to flush, they both exchange a laugh and begin to sit up.

Whatever was in store for them that day, they would greet it in open arms.
