Watcher has back pedalled on deleteing all their free content to lock it behind a pay wall but y'know what? maybe I just dont want to give them ad revenue anymore, which is evil but screw them. Also they may still back pedal on their back pedalling, which is to many pedals anyways.

the only silver lining in the YOI movie getting shelved is how it's brought the fandom out of the woodwork. it feels like we're all old neighbors who have come back to the old local diner one more time before it gets closed down.

if those leaks about ice adolescence are true and the movie really made it all the way to post-production before being completely scrapped then i hope someone sends the entire movie in its post-production state to the lost media wiki, i hope it becomes verifiable public knowledge that mappa cancelled a movie that was damn near finished and in the final stages of editing, and i hope the fact that they let people put that much work into it for no reason when they're already known to be an awful studio to work with and then strung fans along for years about it becomes a controversy that they can never escape from. i hate this so much.

edit: i should've shown the leak i was referring to in my original post, but since i didn't think to do so, i've clarified further in a reblog here! take this with a grain of salt as it is technically an unverified rumor, but this is horrible of MAPPA--a studio already notorious for mistreating and overworking their animators--if they truly did abandon the yuri on ice movie so far into the production process.

soooo conflicted about this because janine seems genuinely in her element at the district, and she’s making a good amount of change and doing great work… but at the same time i don’t think she’s happy. we know deep down her passion is for teaching. and sure the money is great, and getting to be the ‘man on the inside’ is cool, but the only time she ever genuinely seems herself is when she’s at abbott or with the abbott teachers.

abbott hasn’t been the same without her and i doubt it ever would be again. the kids need her. the staff need her. and most importantly she herself needs to be back where she’s happiest—at abbott. in this episode she saw firsthand how the students (via alex) need her at abbott, I predict in future episodes she’ll see how the other teachers need her back too. and finally she’ll realize that’s where she needs to be, for herself more than anyone else. only then will we have a complete story arc, when she does what’s best for her.
