I was obsessed with Megamind way back when. And while I do bemoan a lot of the decisions they went with for the subsequent series, on the plus side it did make me want to draw fanart again! I have small kids now, so it's been a long time. Anyway...

*DRUMROLL*

I give you: CASTAWAY MEGAMIND!!!

This was part of a crazy idea I had to do a soft rewrite of the series for an older audience that I will definitely never get to because writing is hard and I have no money for childcare.

Basically, Megamind gets trapped through some kind of wormhole/portal thing gone wrong and left on a planet in another galaxy. Right before the portal closes, Roxanne desperately throws his little bobblehead tracker he tried to give her (in this version it's not in her car, she doesn't take it saying it's not a great way to build trust and it stays in his lair) into the portal after him. So he's stuck on a wasteland planet with no tech trying to survive with the hope that his friends will be able track his location and rescue him.

We can’t keep meeting like this (65k, E): a rollercoaster of a fic really, some very memorable oyster-related scenes

No rest for the wicked (24k, M): funny emotional shenanigans with crowley-muriel friendship and an aziracrow happy ending

Dead nightingales still sing (6k, T): aziraphale returns to the earth after a year in heaven. Poetic sentences i want tattood on my body

Covenant of salt (18k, E): angry post s2 sex but very thoughtfully written

A bit of a gray area (7k, E): humour! Pining! Bangers of lines!

I’m the treasure baby, i’m the prize (9k, E): crowley is ‘working’ at mrs sandwich post s2. She gets him <3

Drinking buddies & diaries (31k, not rated): currently reading and enjoying. Crowley reads aziraphale’s diaries…

Thanks, even though I didn't dismantle anything.

I just wanted to give my opinion: I think Aziraphale made a choice, I think the emotions we see on screen are genuine. I've always thought that Aziraphale is very nuanced – that's what makes him interesting to me – and I think his decision to return to Heaven is in character.

On top of that, the whole scene is so well written and acted - and the characters' feelings are so painfully obvious - that I can't think of it as some sort of ruse. It would cheap out the entire narrative that Neil has written so far.

That being said, this whole topic honestly made me tired, as well as the Crowley's trauma discourse. However, I find quite amusing that people believe that we don’t have enough on-screen evidence to believe that Crowley has some kind of trauma due to the Fall - perhaps a long monologue looking straight into the camera might help - but at the same time they develop a convoluted theory of which there is no on-screen evidence to argue that Aziraphale can do nothing wrong.

And I love both characters, they're both nuanced and flawed and that’s what makes them relatable and not… I don’t know, some kind of superheroes or some hollow archetypes.

But, as I said, the whole discourse has tired me and I also feel a bit burnt out, so I’d prefer to move on now.
