But that self-control had taken a pretty big hit when he'd quit human blood and still wasn't back to normal two years later. Meanwhile here comes along a stuck-up sister he didn't ask for whose newborn self-control is inexplicably strong. He grinds his teeth just a bit every time Carlisle lavishly praises Rosalie's restraint.

But what Edward doesn't see is an upbringing where Rosalie was trained, from a very young age, to be in absolute control of her body. Perfect posture at all times. Anxious checks in the mirror as often as possible. An arsenal of beauty products, uncomfortable clothing, and accessories. Ruthless control over her eating. A beautiful, sophisticated mask as strong as steel. Carefully practiced expressions, gestures, and phrases for countless situations.

Even Rosalie isn't aware of how many years she's trained for this. Her newborn control might not be magical, but it was hard won in a thousand battles that her omniscient brother will never understand.

One of my favorite little moments of the movies is actually the little friend group part of the “La Push baby, it’s La Push” scene. It only lasts like 10 seconds, but it’s so . . . real. Yeah maybe it’s not going to win any oscars. Nobody is delivering an intense brooding dramatic monologue. It won’t take your breath away. But it’s good.

I took acting classes for my entire childhood and we were always taught: good acting isn’t just knowing how to cry on cue. If the audience or viewers can watch and feel like they’re looking through a window at a real conversation between real people, then that is the best acting. Make the audience feel like they aren’t watching actors on a screen. Make them forget that you’re playing a part. If you can achieve that, those moments where they’re fully immersed. Where they feel awkward like they’re eavesdropping on a conversation that they aren’t part of. Then you have truly done your job to the best of your abilities”

That part only lasts maybe 20 seconds but everything about it is so real. How awkward Eric is when he tries to seem cool, but he’s not over playing it. Bella’s facial expression when he asks “La Push baby, you in?”

Like yeah all of this totally could’ve flopped but acting choices, even subtle ones, the actors made really made the scene feel real. They seem like an actual group of friends. Even the cheesy lines aren’t over acted. High schoolers can be fucking goofy, but they didn’t make it over the top like most portrayals of goofy high schoolers do.

And it’s not just this scene! It’s almost every scene with bella and her human friends! I feel like the twilight movies, movies about literal vampires, portrayed actual every day highschool friend dynamics better than most movies/tv shows that don’t have a fantastical/supernatural element to them.

I just had a dream that there were new Twilight movies about these new characters who just turned into vampires shot like The Office/Parks and Rec but the cameraman is also a character and occasionally he runs off because of something the main character says and also he doesn't know that the main character is a vampire??? And because of this there were fans who were saying that what if the original Twilight movies were also shot this way and we just don't see the cameraman so Bella and Edward's cameraman also had to become a vampire because he was there during the "I know what you are." scene

- I know it’s like a thing like they live in the woods to stay away from people and not be Discovered and everything but....fake. they exclusively live in small towns y’all have to DEAL with people whether you like it or not

- I mean I get secrecy but you’re really gonna look me in the eyes and tell me Esme isn’t the type of woman who organizes block parties and brings baked goods to everyone??? Carlisle comes home and tells her they lost a patient today and she’s already out the door with a week worth of homemade casseroles and cookies to give to the family. Volunteers to watch little kids getting dropped off at the community center for day care. She’s the immediate Go To in the town if you need help with something. Everyone adores her

- Carlisle obviously is Stanned because he’s this freakishly great doctor who’s choosing to work in their small town barely-functioning hospital and he turns that whole place around. The town has never been healthier. He and Esme also donate money towards whatever the town needs, be in filling pot holes or renovating something or getting better school books or whatever, they’re on it.

- Edward...after Nessie is born he starts feeling like he needs a job, like realistically he knows he’s a billionaire but his olden days thinking gets to him and he’s like,,,,father’s and husbands Provide and all that junk. Bella thinks he’s being dramatic and Knows he will physically and spiritually die if he has to work even just one hour of retail, but she leaves him to it. Edward- after a few harrowing attempts and one black Friday that nearly sent him straight to hell- also realizes he can’t keep up with jobs like that, and he also looks way too young to get a professional(tm) job, so he eventually comes to the conclusion he should become a music teacher. He ends up loving it, because he’s literally getting paid to just do his one hobby over and over, and all the kids he teaches absolutely adore him. Raising Nessie helped him overcome a lot of his awkwardness so he’s great with kids now, and he’s a great teacher, their town ends up getting well known for winning regional band competitions because of him

- Jasper can usually pass for a little older than some of his family so consider.....Jasper becoming a therapist.....how powerful. Healing through his own trauma by helping others with theirs. He always knows if their lying about something or if their meds aren’t working right because he can sense their moods...He’s finally helping and saving lives instead of hurting and killing them...

- Emmett helps out at a parks service! Teaches people forest safety and how to defend or get away from animals, leads hikes every now and then. also 100% he frequents open mic nights and considers that his main contribution to society lmao

At some point in those books they cook up like ten eggs at once to feed to the werewolves. 13 yr old me thought that sounded crazy and wanted to test if you really cook 10 eggs in a pan. So I did and they turned out well and then I ate them all by myself and got sick. And that's how I learned you're not suppose to eat 10 eggs in one sitting. It occurred to me later when I was sick that the werewolves probably split the eggs and it wasn't 10 eggs per werewolf in the first place.
