So I decided I’m taking a hiatus from here. There’s a lot of change going on in my personal life and also my focus is on graduate school now and getting my Masters, so I’m stepping back from writing and projects to focus on myself and my life.
If we’re mutuals you’d like to keep in touch, shoot me a message and I’ll give you my socials and or number.
Once in a blue moon I’ll pop on in so if you wanna keep tagging me in your writing then please do.
Love you all, take care of yourselves. 💕

If Tony DeFool really does have K’Andre’s puck from his first point, we’re all gonna storm his house and take it back right? Because if we are, I’ll bring the snacks!

it doesnt sit right with me that the nhl and the rangers put up with deangelos racist bullshit for years and never did a thing about it. and still they were going about their #blacklivesmatter and diversity bullshit. like the last straw was him instigating a fight with a teammate and not, idk, saying slurs??? how do you expect your players of color to feel comfortable on a team where they are being forced with a guy who is hateful of you just EXISTING and all the while everyone around you is just ignoring it until he provokes a white player? anyway, change hockey culture

The Metropolitan Riveters’ Saroya Tinker was the first NWHL player to speak out after Barstool CEO Erika Nardini posted a video targeting women’s hockey journalists. For that act of solidarity, Tinker, one of the few Black players in the league, became a focal point of criticism from a site with a  well-documented reputation for racism, sexism and targeted harassment.
Under the guise of standing up for Nardini, Barstool founder Dave Portnoy went after Tinker and the NWHL. In a video posted late Tuesday night, Portnoy called her “the white supremacist crap girl” and said she was “done” in the league.
While the NWHL and many of Tinker’s teammates have stood by her, the support hasn’t been unanimous. The NWHL, like the rest of hockey culture, has its own internal issues to work out in terms of supporting Black players who condemn racism.
Tinker’s teammate Kelly Babstock, who appeared on Nardini’s Token CEO podcast, liked Portnoy’s tweet and several replies. Riveters director of hockey operations Gabrielle Gjelaj also supported Nardini on Instagram.

Things I’ve learned while writing on Tumblr:
This is not meant to be overly negative in any way, it’s just the realities of the writing world. I’ve had many people comment on, “well your fics always do so well!” when in reality... it just doesn’t always work that way. And I want to kind of address some of the issues with engagement that frustrates new writers. It’s not meant to discourage, only enlighten a bit. Writing is supposed to be fun, and putting all this unnecessary pressure on yourself just isn’t fair to you or the things you write.
Don’t expect to get a lot of notes and feedback right away (or ever). It can take days, or months, for a piece of your writing to make it around a fandom and if the subject isn’t one that grabs people’s attention, it’ll likely take even longer. Some people have an unrealistic expectation of getting hundreds of notes on the first thing they put out, and that’s extremely rare and really damaging for self-esteem.
If the story doesn’t contain smut in some form, somewhere, it likely won’t do as well. This is no shade against smut writers because yall are feeding the fandom in ways that us non-smut writers can’t. The writing is all fantastic, but a majority of audiences want that, and that’s fine. It’s just something to be aware of.
If it’s not about the popular boy of the moment, it’s going to take even longer to make its rounds. Sure, you might run into some people who share the same affections for your niche character, but a lot of people won’t read it if it’s not for someone they know or care about (and that is also fine just something to be aware of!)
Sometimes the things you put your heart and soul into don’t do as well as the things you rush to put out. It will feel extremely unfair but sometimes writing here can be a complicated thing. Don’t let that tarnish your feeling for any of your writing.
A lot of writers in any fandom LOVE when new writers come to talk to them about their work or about the things the new writer is working on. It may be intimidating if the writer is viewed as “successful” but 9 times out of 10, the already established writers don’t feel like they’re better than anyone else in any way. We’re all just doing what we love and love to talk about these things with anyone.
Recognition for your hard work is important but at the base of it all, you have to be writing because it’s what you enjoy. You can’t do it for the clout or for the feedback because you will end up discouraged and disappointed. If you aren’t enjoying writing for yourself, don’t force it. We all want people to recognize our hard work but passion has to be at the base of it all.
Supporting other writers is the only way to keep the writing side of any fandom alive. You can put out constant content but if we aren’t supporting each other, it’s an endless cycle of frustrations. Reblog the things you love and let other writers know if you appreciate something they wrote. A reciprocity usually develops from there and then, hey! We’re all happier!
These are just a few things and I’m sure I’ll think of more. But like I said, this isn’t meant to discourage, but I sometimes think people have a warped view of how writing goes in particular fandoms and I just wanted to share what I’ve learned :) it may be different for everyone, but this is my own personal take on the matter.
