I am currently cramming for finals and I have a Very Important Message for all of my neurodivergent pals with bad handwriting bc you write too fast:
If you find yourself thinking,
“It’s fine, I’ll remember the context and understand what I wrote”
in response to the question
“Am I gonna be able to read that later?”
...
...REWRITE IT. NOW.
YOU WILL NOT REMEMBER.
YOU CAN BARELY REMEMBER THE LOCATION OF YOUR KEYS (self-drag),
THERE IS NO WAY YOU’LL REMEMBER THE CONTEXT OF //EVERY OTHER PAGE OF NOTES//.
This has been an adhd grief-fueled PSA, sponsored by myself freaking out after going through my notes just now

With my only knowledge of sturgeon beforehand coming from Stardew Valley, you can imagine my confusion (and horror) upon seeing this post
Bunjy, do you have any fun/cursed facts about sturgeon? They are my favourite fish
sturgeon are probably responsible for most of history’s “lake monster” sightings around the world! these giant fish do sometimes cruise around just under the surface, and from a distance their primordially scaly spines can look like some kind of fantastical serpent, or something.
Tumblr media
“STAY OUT OF THE WATER”
these freshwater fish are generally huge, sure, but some individuals have been recorded as north of 20 feet long, which is frankly ridiculous.
Tumblr media
add that to the fact that a single sturgeon can live for more than a century and you’ve got a lake-monster hypothesis!
Tumblr media
(or sometimes “jesus christ how did a shark get into the Great Lakes?”)

London-based student Lewis Hornby is a grandson on a mission. When he noticed that his dementia-afflicted grandmother was having trouble staying hydrated, he came up with Jelly Drops—bite-sized pods of edible water that look just like tasty treats.
Each of these colorful “candies” is made up of mostly water, with gelling agents and electrolytes making up just 10% of their composition. Available in a rainbow of colors and presented in packaging reminiscent of a box of chocolates, Jelly Drops are an easy and engaging way to avoid dehydration—a common problem for those suffering from degenerative neurological diseases.
“It is very easy for people with dementia to become dehydrated,” he explains. “Many no longer feel thirst, don’t know how to quench thirst, or don’t have the dexterity to drink.” With this in mind, Hornby set out to find a solution. In addition to seeking advice from psychologists and doctors, he opted to “experience” life with dementia himself through the use of virtual reality tools and a week in a care home.
Once he was familiar with what dementia patients need, he brainstormed what they want. “From my observations, people with dementia find eating much easier than drinking. Even still, it can be difficult to engage and encourage them to eat. I found the best way to overcome this is to offer them a treat! This format excites people with dementia, they instantly recognize it and know how to interact with it.”
Case in point? Hornby’s own grandmother’s reaction: “When first offered, grandma ate seven Jelly Drops in 10 minutes, the equivalent to a cup full of water—something that would usually take hours and require much more assistance.”

I saw a post saying that having someone study with you can help those with ADHD and I just wanted to let yall know:
If you go to youtube and look up: "Study with Me" you find many many videos of people who recorded themselves studying
Sometimes they are in a library with background noise, sometimes a cafe, sometimes its piano music in the background, sometimes its rain, etc.
And some of them having timers to show you when to take breaks together etc.
They honestly help me a lot, especially during covid when i dont feel safe to be out in public for long

Sorry but if you laugh at something I say I instantly put a plaque of you up in my Mental Hall of Soulmates and I will remain hopelessly in love with you for the rest of my natural life
It’s debilitating
Anyone else, esp. neurodivergent people, ever talk to someone and get elated because you’re like wow :) I am doing a Conversation :) I am doing the Asking Questions and Listening Attentively and Expressing Interest :) I have shared a Joke or brief Amusing Happening and this person liked it :) this person seems to enjoy speaking to me and I enjoy speaking to them :) I’m a person.

I love the dynamic between me and my therapist
Her with her giving me helpful advice and suggestions to implement and checking back at the end of the week to see how they worked out for me,
Me with my instantly forgetting everything she says and the deep unwavering sense of shame that follows when I have to admit that I didn’t change a single thing
TLDR: having adhd is like living in a Groundhog Day-esque time loop except it’s a coin toss whether or not you’ll actually remember anything to use to your advantage in the next loop

Please DO NOT watch Sia’s new ableist film “Music.” The autistic character Music is shown having several meltdowns and being held in prone restraint. Prone restraint is dangerous, and has killed many autistic people. Take Eric Parsa for example. Autistic people are killed by neurotypicals who don’t know how to handle meltdowns and Sia just makes light of that. Plus, she cast a non disabled person to play Music. So again, do not watch “Music.” Here’s a thread of films with good autistic representation if you want to find something to watch.

things that made me stop wanting to die that require no effort whatsoever
change the color used to highlight text on your laptop
move the pictures on your wall
stack whatever clutter is in your room into piles even if you don’t have time to clean it all
slightly vary your commute, even just by one street
change where you sit and scroll aimlessly on your phone even if it’s only to the chair in your room instead of your bed
drink water or juice out of a wine glass in the morning because nothing is real
shower with the lights off, without music
buy $3 flowers at trader joe’s—they look bad next to the more expensive ones but they look so good in your room
start typing things you don’t post into your notes. your thoughts can be worth documenting even if you don’t deem them worth sharing
wake up super early just once. you don’t have to make it a habit it’s just extra satisfying to go to bed that night
listen to the entirety of your favorite album from 2015

truly the thing that has most improved my mental wellbeing since my slow motion mental breakdown sophomore year was not actually improving my time management skills and getting more organized or any of those things that ive been bad at my entire life but instead just not glowing with incandescent self loathing and inadequacy because of it. like i still do a ton of shit at the last minute and forget to open important emails and my bedroom is a mess but im sooo much happier because at least i am not constantly stewing in overwhelming guilt because of it.
