Midwestern Sunset #28
A Red-Tailed hawk perches bashfully at the top of a very tall tree.
I miss pollen-laden bees and outrageous colors…
They’re just geese, but they’re still pretty nice.
I miss wildflowers…
Another very snowy day.
The thaw now comes…
A Bewick’s Wren perches on deadwood, very far from the Midwest.
I miss dandelions.
A young Blue Jay announces his presence to a frozen world, early one morning…
Silhouette #19
Eye of dog.
A woodpecker hangs on, through the cold and the wind.
Silhouette #18
Robins left a long time ago. There are no worms to eat here…
Midwestern Sunset #27
I miss the hummingbird.
I miss its unworldly nature.
I miss barely-perceiving streaks of emerald.
I miss the buzzing, clicking, chirping…
And I miss its companionship as I work in the garden.
A goat contemplates the snow.
It’s a very windy day…
A bitter cold is coming. All of nature prepares.
