Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen,
I reblog marvel & stranger things too!
Just a petite gal from Chicago trying to read all the books she can.
One thing I really love is that all of the people who ensured the survival of Winterfell and the North were Starks. It was a Stark from Winterfell that was the driving force in the fight for Northern Independence. It was a Stark from Winterfell that warned everybody about the threat of the white walkers. It was a Stark from Winterfell that lured the Night King into a trap. It was also a Stark from Winterfell that put an end to the army of the dead. The sons and daughters of Winterfell all risked their lives to save their castle and their kingdom, and they all did in their own ways.
Can we talk how utterly awesome Rhaegal was in this battle?! The smallest dragon has come into his own in a spectacular way. He may not have shared with Jon the same intense moment as Drogon had in season 7, but that dogfight between them and the Night King shows how strong their bond has become and how much they already care for each other.
Rhaegal throws himself into the fight with his former brother without any hesitation, even though he’s at a huge disadvantage: the weather conditions are the worst possible for him, it’s his first battle with a dragonrider on his back and a dragon hasn’t fought a dragon in centuries so he has absolutely no preparation going into this. Yet, he keeps soldiering on like a trooper.
And when Viserion dares to attack Jon and rips off his cloak, Rhaegar roars and rips off half of his face. It’s as if he were saying: “no one touches my dragonrider, no one”.
From that moment on, he becomes much more aggressive, being absolutely fearless, even though the NK is aiming his spear at him. He keeps fiercely protecting Jon with his own body when Viserion, whose main objective clearly is to kill Rhaegal’s rider, tries to hit Jon with dragonfire. He holds his own, diverting the NK’s attention, until Drogon and Dany come and throw him off Viserion.
And even when hurt and falling, Rhaegal tries to break the fall as much as possible so Jon would get hurt as little as possible. And when Jon recovers it’s Rhaegal he looks at first, worrying whether his dragon is alright.
Dany doesn’t fight. Like physically she doesn’t know how to. She might have had a lifetime running away from assassins besides Viserys, but in this sense she is like Sansa or Tyrion. But yet she was like no bitch not today as well. I have no skills,I’m not even holding this thing right but she didn’t hesitate by a second. She was ruthless and tried her best because she certainly cared. It’s risky for someone who is a fighter but riskier for someone who is useless in battle and it just reminded me why I stan her.
It also took me back to Tyrion’s battle against Stannis
Lord of Light! Come to us in our darkness. We offer you these false gods. Take them and cast your light upon us. For the night is dark and full of terrors.
