Tiny Butterly On A Goat Head Stalk
Tiny Butterly On A Goat Head Stalk
If you are familiar with New Mexico and the southwest (I am not really sure where these little thorny things live), then you know these little thorny things that this tiny butterfly is sitting are called goat heads. They are horrible but apparently they provide something for these little butterflies. There are 5 or 6 of them flitting about, then sitting and I guess eating from them.

Tiny Butterfly
This was the tiniest butterfly I have ever seen. The purple flower he is sitting on is about the size of a dime.

The Manual Open Space
The Manual Open Space
Been a long time since I visited any of the open spaces in the Sandia foothills. It was a really pretty day today and sadly, the bugs thought so too. They were out in droves! There were so many bugs that I left after about 10 minutes but I did manage to take a couple of pictures. This was my favorite. There are a few picnic in this open space here but with the amount of bugs … I really can’t…

Aerial Views
Learning how to fly a drone. At the moment I am a recreational flyer (only for fun) so I can’t fly above 400′ and I have to keep the drone in my line of sight amongst other rules. I am working on getting my license so I will be able to take full advantage of the things that can be done photography and videography wise. I have been unmotivated photographically speaking. It’s been a chore to pick…

White Fuzzy Things
These white fuzzy things – I don’t know if they are flowers or weeds – are growing all over my back yard. I much prefer them to the puncture vine – which is also growing all over my back yard.

Mario On Cloud 9
Mario On Cloud 9
Seen on the side of Cloud 9 Smoke Shop on Wyoming … Mario, Toad and a Piranha Plant getting blitzed … and that little frog hiding under a mushroom hoping no one catches him or her that bong. Party TIME …. but seriously – this mural made me smile today. You can find the artist on Instagram: @skindian_art

Hummingbird Rest Station
I love watching the hummingbirds coming and going from the feeders. I also love to watch the one that was there first guarding the feeder and running all the other guys off.Amazingly fierce for little tiny birds.

It's Raining
It’s Raining
The weather was something today. A storm blew in over Sandia Mountain and within minutes the mountain was completely obliterated by those clouds. The thunder was at times distant and rumbly and at other times close and deafening. I love thunder and I know you can’t have thunder without lightening … but I didn’t see any lightening.

The Hummies are BACK!
The Hummies are BACK!
I have seen a few flitting about the back yard the past few days but this one decided to sit and stay for a while. I made hummie juice and hung the hummingbird feeders yesterday. I hope this little guy spreads the word.

The Pigeon Patrol
I thought this pigeon was sort of pretty – for a pigeon. I watched her and her buddy (2nd photo) scouring one parking spot in this parking lot looking for grub. Buddy followed her every were and when the leader stopped the follower stopped too. And when the leader moved again – so did the follower.

I don’t think I will ever get tired of looking at the Sandia Mountains. Some days are sort of hazy and the mountains look like a backdrop. Other days are crisp and clear and on those days the mountains look like you can reach out touch them. Either way they are stunning.

Light At The End of The Mulberry Tunnel
Light At The End of The Mulberry Tunnel
There are leaves on the Mulberry tree which means the Mulberry war is almost over. As you can see there are still some pollen pods so we are not quite there yet but the vertigo is gone (at least for the moment). I actually was comfortable enough to drive today.

Evil Mulberry Worms
So, on April 5th I said that the Mulberry Tree was getting set to make my life miserable. Well, it has and in new and exciting ways. Since my last post I have been fighting horrendous sinus congestion which has led to ear involvement and vertigo. Dizzy to the point of not being able to lift my head off the pillow – never mind trying to take and post photos. I am feeling a bit better today – I am…

A Female Ladder-backed Woodpecker
A Female Ladder-backed Woodpecker
She spent a good while pecking at that tree before she decided to have a snack. She must have gone around the tree about 100 time in an up and down spiral movement. It was interesting to watch.
