Today is Erev Pesach, Passover begins at sunset!

Passover, or “Pesach” in Hebrew, is the holiday which celebrates the Exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. 

Preparations for the holiday will often continue throughout the day, as the first Seder is tonight. A Seder is an orchestrated festive meal, which includes lots of food, singing, the story of the Passover, and other rituals.

During Passover there is a different set of dietary restrictions, which forbids Chametz, leavened bread products. On Erev Pesach, there is customs to burn all such products in your home, and recite a special blessing to “nullify” them.

Some observe T'anit Bechorot, The Fast of the First Born, from daybreak to sunset today.

one more call for help as i get my shit together

hello hello, it is me again asking for help getting to my next "life checkpoint" as it were. i am starting a new full time job this tuesday and am relieved to be at the end of my unemployment saga. the tricky thing is that i don't get a paycheck until may 3rd and thats only going to account for one half of a full pay period. the problem of course is that rent and quite a few other hefty bills are due for me on or before the 1st. i will need some help paying rent especially because my first paycheck wont be enough to cover it in full. i also need help buying food, medicine, and paying for train rides to and from the city (about $9 usd for a round trip) so i can actually show up to this place and get it all right. i'm proud of myself for getting here and incredibly thankful for the help i have received along the way. this is hopefully my final push for financial help for the foreseeable future since this job pays well and is guaranteed to be full time and is well-backed by a reputable organization. whatever you give, even if its just a few bucks, helps. a few bucks could buy me an extra meal! im setting a goal of around $600 and i think that should be enough to stay comfortable until my paychecks are self sustaining.

this actually lines up well with what cas's canonical interest in bees represents at that point. bees being another order of angel, cas admiring them for their structure, their hierarchies, their closeness to god, and everyone with a job to do, during a time where cas feels like his every choice and action has led to disaster. he's desperate to be back "in the fold," to have a job and do it well. and bedlund saying here that angels are also the "closest to his missing God" also supports the idea that bees = a longing for heaven and order. honey!cas is cas at his lowest and most "helpless." he feels defeated, he wants things to be simple and easy again. this cas is perhaps looking for the guidance of that "missing God." he's searched desperately for god before, when he believed god had all the answers and would help them. following the bees, admiring them, wishing to be like them, ties into those themes of feeling helpless and looking for structure and purpose again, the kind of structure and purpose he found in heaven for millions of years. but observing the bees also twines with cas's love and admiration of earth and god's creations. it's a very cas way of longing for the familiarity of heaven. instead of just being like, "ah yes i miss heaven and it's structures" he goes and admires bees for those same attributes. (also imagine cas, in this broken defeated state, telling the bees of all his faults and trauma and regrets. the bees as angels being tuned into angel radio, receiving and relaying cas's confessions) anyway, bedlund saying bees are possibly another order of angels just !!! slams home the idea that cas is looking toward heaven at this time. and again that his interest in bees, while seemingly cute and wholesome on the surface, runs much deeper in ways that are often glossed over or not represented in fandom
